Jabo’s Ace Hardware Coppell

Ace IS the place for helpful hardware folks! I broke my bathroom sink while trying to clear out a clog. I took the parts into Ace and as soon as I walked in the door there was a very nice employee ready to help. He walked me through how to replace it and all the different options for parts. He even helped with another project and was so willing to help with any questions I had. I fixed the sink, without any help from my husband… woo hoo!

Went in to purchase a Big Green Egg cover, but they were out of stock. This was understandable but the sale associate advised they would have a shipment come in Monday and they would call me to let me know. I then asked the manager if I could go ahead and pay for the cover and was advised that would be ok. After I checked out I was assured my cover would be in Monday. Monday came and went without any phone call, I called Tuesday morning and was told they do not get shipments on Mondays but on Tuesdays. I just called the store and was told they did not get the covers and I could leave my name and number and a manager could call me on Wednesday. Absolutely the worst service, if they were unsure of the arrival date this should have been spoken and I would not have paid for something that was unsure of the delivery date.

I’ve been in this store about 15 times in the past two years and the customer service is pretty dismal. The associates look at you then go about their business. Not even a welcome to Ace or hello. The high school kids on the register don’t really care about the customers. Their attempts of being nice are pretty weak. I waited over 15 minutes to get a paint sample before I walked out and went to Lowes. A manager asked if I needed help and referred me to the only person that can mix a sample. Some lady was taking up all his time. He could have said, you can look around while I help this customer or call someone that can mix a sample of paint. I will drive the extra 10 minutes to Home Depot from now on. The only good associate is the older gentleman with the mustache.

Couldn’t ask for a better small town hardware store! They are polite, courteous, and knowledgable. They have what it need or are able to order it and have it shipped right into Coppell. So convenient! :)

About 20% of the time they have what I need and I pay a premium for it. No longer shopping here after five years. Finally learned it’s worth the drive to Home Depot every time.

I have been going here for years. Almost always have what I want and almost always I get great customer service.

Every time I’ve been to this place, the customer service has been worse, and the prices higher, than the time before. There’s only one employee who is actually helpful and smiles, and I haven’t seen him the last couple visits. The managers are smug and unhelpful, and the cashiers act as though saying ‘thank you’ is an enormous burden. It doesn’t matter at this point, they’ve burned the bridge to get to my money. I’ll gladly drive right past Jabo’s and continue down the street to Home Depot.

Great hardware store. Of course they don’t have everything you would find at a big store, but they do a good job stocking parts that the twenty year old houses nearby need.
Staff is generally nice, and most of the time helpful.

Great store. Prices are competitive generally but the service is why I really go here. Trying to locate a product at home depot can be a pain, and if you want to find an expert to ask a question that can be even more painful. At the big box stores sometimes I feel like employees actively avoid customers so they don’t have to answer questions. At Ace there is always someone readily available to show you where a product is and an expert that knows how to do it. I get at least 30 minutes of my life back every time I go in there because I don’t waste time wandering.

Serious attitude with the workers on the floor. Cannot understand, a mom and pop shop like Ace Hardware should keep their best behavior for their job security.

One of the last mom and pop ideas, this places beats the big box stores on service. I mean do you really need 60,000 square feet of garden center when you just need that 12 volt battery for the Verizon FiOS box (like I did)?!? Oh and I must not be the first person to need one because before I said the word «box» he knew what was coming after «Verizon». I mean — what IS that thing in my garage? The nice man at Coppell Ace hardware told me in was the battery backup unit for the Network Interface Device (NID). I said «oh, gee, thanks. I didn’t use to have it before I got FiOS». He said that is because old telephone service was «line-​powered» over the copper pair of wires. FiOS is fiber-​optic cable run all the way to the side of your house. There is no power on the fiber, hence why they plug the NID into a wall outlet. The battery is used for when the power goes out — that way you will still have home phone service in the event of a power outage, like one caused by the vicious storms we get in the DFW area.
I paid my $ 7.63 and said «you’re awesome and I am going to write this up on Unilocal.»
