I have always tried to give local, mom and pop businesses my business before going to the chains or out of town. I called The Bru Thru to get a price on a keg of beer and was told by the very friendly young woman that she had to check on the price & would call me back the next day. No call back so my husband called and was told the same. Still no call back the next day so we went to Harker Heights. Our party was yesterday(Saturday) and The Bru Thru finally called back Friday afternoon, NINEDAYS after my original call. We were so disappointed. I occasionally go there for a margarita but will no more. They have poor business practices but maybe are making so much money they don’t need anymore business.

So my best friend from high school and his family just go stationed in Fort Hood. I saw him for the first time in 8 years over the 4th and we came here for beer. This place is pretty damn cool. Basically, it’s a beer barn. They have a pretty decent selection of beers and relatively good prices. They also have a grill on the drive that they cook burgers on. The staff is super friendly as well.

Let’s see, I am not quite sure how to categorize the Bru Thru in less then 2 sentences. It’s a drive-through coffee house during the day, that serves daiquiris and sells beer at night. Throw in a couple of pool tables in the adjacent«man cave,» an outdoor seating section with BBQ grill and a sassy kitty cat. Oh, did I mention that this all takes place in a former gas station?! This is about as eclectic as a bar can get, and definitely the most interesting place in Copperas Cove. I feel as though no other city could really pull off such a business without it coming off as trying too hard. The people that work there and hang out there are a treat, as well. I’m actually looking forward to my next trip there. Just watch your fingers so the cat doesn’t nip them.
