If you are looking for a great casual environment where the menu changes often enough where you just start craving something and they have a whole new experience waiting for you then you will love it here. The staff remains the same. Five star standards. Beautiful views and quite often entertainment of live golf. All at very reasonable prices. Food is superb quality.

Brought my family here for a holiday dinner. The food, service, everything was excellent, made for a memorable meal. One of the best places I’ve eaten in Copper.

This is the best kept secret ! What a lovely place and what a great Menu with changes each week. Very reasonable too. Elisabeth, the Chef, is so creative and excellent as executive Chef, with a real passion for culinary arts. Nigel, her assistant, originally from New-Zealand, is also one of the best Chefs I have had a chance to know in California. The service is impeccable and if everyone is expert in making you happy, Brian is probably one of the most expert Maitre Ds’ and servers I have seen in Northern California. Yesterday, we enjoyed their Grouper(a superb fish, fresh and wild). Their duck and lamb shops are also excellent. Try it for yourself. You will be amazed…

This was my second visit this year after many years of not visiting. Many years ago, when this restaurant opened, I loved their food. After a few years the food had gone downhill. This chef is bringing back the quality they had lost for many years. Enjoyed the fish/chips and Cobb salad. Their Eggs Benedict was also delicious.

The Easter Sunday brunch is great food and very reasonable. Friendly staff too. They also have a great happy hour weekdays. If you like eggs Benedict, you’ll be quite satisfied with theirs here.

Best kept secret in Calaveras County. Only open Fri-Sat for dinner. I would love to see this place open more as the food, service and dining room are fantastic. This place serves food that could cost a lot more but they keep everything affordable. This is now the finest restaurant in the county. You can have a great steak or a hamburger. Service is the best and a bar also. They will see a lot of me and my friends.

We were visiting friends when we went to eat at the lodge(Copper grill @ Saddle creek GC) I had the blacken swordfish & my wife(who is Gluten free) had the scallops. Both meals looked & tasted great. Looking around, all the other items on the menu looked & smelled just as good. Chef Elizabeth has got it right. During our meal, she came over to make sure that my wife’s plate was cooked to her satisfaction. The wine list was above average. We are looking to buy a house inside the gates & this will help make our decision a little easier. I heard the place fills up fast on the weekends, so make a reservation if you are coming from out of town.

WALKEDOUT… We made a reservation for dinner on Sat night and drove 45 minutes from our home in Modesto in search of a nice evening meal. After standing more than 5 minutes at the front of the restaurant somebody finally greeting us but they were completely stressed out. We immediately were informed they were«short-handed» and super super busy… geez. It was funny to us because the restaurant is not very big and we could see it wasn’t even nearly full. We were eventually seated outside on the patio as we requested. We sat there for another 10 – 15 minutes and were completely ignored the entire time. At that point I walked inside and as I entered the waitress made eye contact with me and realized I was looking for her. She then came outside to our lonely table and before I could say anything she unloaded on us that they were short-handed, incredibly busy, blah blah blah… Okay, if I wanted this type of stress vomited all over me I would have just headed to the office instead of going out to a restaurant. That said, I replied to her that I felt as if we were just an unwanted burden on her. I asked her if she thought sharing her overwhelming stress with her customers was very professional.(No response… just a roll of the eyes). I gave this young lady every chance to recover but she just didn’t get it. My family then stood up and quietly left while nobody even tried to stop us. My rating here is obviously poor but in fairness to the business owners this could mostly be caused by 1 or 2 really uncaring employees. The chef might have be world class but we couldn’t get that far to find out. It’s a nice looking restaurant with an awesome view of the golf course but managed very poorly. Went to Diamondbacks(Sonora) instead for an A+ dinner after this. Robert V.

We have eaten here as both«passer-by» tourists and also as guests in the cottages while attending a wedding. We love the tables by the windows with a view of the golf course. The servers are pleasant and efficiency and service varies by server. They were happy to accommodate our special request(a small serving of oatmeal vs. a bowl). We have had only breakfast here, but have enjoyed it; as with the servers, it seems that different mornings there are different cooks, so. . the same dish may be different on different mornings.(e.g. the smaller serving of oatmeal.) As noted by some, there were LOTS of flies at the end of October; we’ve not had that be an issue before.

We have been eating there for over a year now and today was the straw that broke the camels back! Flys flys flys! Every where! When I made a complaints regarding ALL the flies the busboy brought me a fly swatter! Now that’s what I call«self serve»! We will not be back. This is not the first time we have complained! We are what you would call«Regulars» every Sunday, we have been tolerant of the service being very inconsistent, but again today was it! We are looking for another place for Sunday breakfast! If the Health Inspector would have came in you would have been«SHUTDOWN»!

Not sure if it’s really worth the 4 mile drive off the main highway coming home from a Bear Valley vacation… Here’s my experience: Stopped there for lunch yesterday on our way home. Upon entering the grounds the place looked very well cared for. Air-conditioning was really on high — seemed colder than the average air conditioner. The biggest issue were all of the FLIES buzzing around the tables. Why, might you ask, would we then elect to sit down? Well, the hostess/waitress explained they had an «event» there the night before where many of the guests were leaving the doors open; she apologized. I didn’t buy it though; they had these dishes on all the tables with a slice of lemon with either pepper corns or clove studs in them to keep the flies away. Trust me, there were no more than one would experience at a picnic but hey, this was a country club environment so one would expect not to deal with fanning flies away virtually the entire time. This just isn’t okay and they seriously need to take care of the problem. Aside from THAT issue, I enjoyed the angus burger with sweet potato fries — both done perfectly. Husband had some sort of steak with frites which he thoroughly enjoyed and the kids both had burgers. The ice tea was home-brewed but the lemonade tasted like it was from a powdered mix. Service was pretty good although the hostess initially said our waiter would be with us shortly but then quickly realized she would be the one taking our order and didn’t seem like she wanted to but was still friendly. The ambiance is nice though in terms of clean rest rooms with ample space to freshen up after a long car drive. Funny thing is, we stopped at the copperopolis shopping center(don’t really want to say which store) to shop and mentioned that we had just dined at the Copper Grill. First question from the woman working was, «Were there flies in the restaurant?» When we replied in the affirmative, she said that’s all she hears from customers who have stopped in. Please, if you manage or own this restaurant, you’ve got to do something. Thank you.

I am happy to leave a review as of today’s date. I say that because in the past year, this restaurant had been steadily declining in food and service. The prices have been very competitive, meaning reasonably priced. Maybe that’s why I kept excusing the lackluster fare. I am very VERY happy to report that in the last month this restaurant has stepped up to a whole another level. Well presented, tasty AND still reasonably priced. The restaurant does not have any live music unfortunately but on the other hand, it’s nice that you can hear each other talk. Still, maybe some piped in soft music would be nice and give it some real ambiance. The beautiful scenery of the golf course while dining is also a plus.

Lunch was good and nice overlooking the 9th hole at Saddle Creek. I had the mac & cheese and Mike had the chicken melt on ciabatta, both were yummy and our service was good! this was a nice lunch stop on our way to gold country.

Agree with other reviewer that service was and seems always to be slow — but we also had a low tolerance because we took our kids. Still, service spotty. The table next to us got soup after their meal. Another table of 5 near us got their entrees served staggered with 3−1−1. That said, service staff is very friendly. We have only been for lunch and find the food quality to be fine. My panini sandwich was quite good. My son’s burger seemed mediocre. Daughter very pleased with grilled cheese. Husband happy with chicken salad(watch out, chicken is fried for those of you on healthwatch). For those with kids, we did feel like we had to keep hushing our children because it is a clubhouse restaurant. This was our sensitivity not others.

We have been coming to Copper Grill in Saddle Creek Resort for the past 5 years. The quality of food in the restaurant has improved tremendously over the years. Our recent dining experience was really enjoyable, whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner. The double cut pork I had for dinner was cooked perfectly. The quality of wait persons has also has gotten better. This is a great place to dine even if you don’t play golf.

Copper Grille, aka Saddle Creek Restaurant has the finer frills of dining here in Copperopolis. Attire is business/dress casual and that includes golf wear. We’ve dined here many, many times in our four years as full time residents in the community and have always been satisfied with the atmosphere, service and cuisine. It’s difficult to recommend any favorites as we like them all and they change their menus with the seasons. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinners. Call ahead for reservations in the evenings or on weekends as it gets busy.
