This is my neighborhood liquor store — it’s sort of hidden amongst the chaos of stores in the Sedano’s shopping center on Calle Ocho and Granada Blvd.(49th Ave). It’s located just east of Diego’s tapas and bar — in this tiny little shop — that’s fully stocked with wines and spirits. I’ve been here 2 times so far — for Bacardi. That’s all I really drink anyway. So — the first time i came in I wasn’t too impressed. I went right for the bottle, easy to find, and paid and left. The second time I came in was about two weeks later — same thing. The same man was behind the counter. He greeted me — and said — ‘So you’re a rum drinker’ — I looked at him curiously and agreed. I guess that caught his attention because he then said — you were here a while ago and bought the same thing — I was floored that he had remembered. He said he never forgot a face or a drink, but can never remember a name. We talked a little about rums — and he pulled a bottle out from the back of the register. You could see that it had already been opened. He poured me a sip in a little plastic cup — it was warm but sweet. I wasn’t particularly happy with the taste of it — and decided to stay with my regular rum — but was really impressed by his customer service. I asked him if he was the owner and he said yes. I guess that was an obvious one — although like him — I can’t remember a name. Very impressed GL — you have won yourself a patron :)
