Steak’n Shake

As far as Steak n’ Shake goes, this was a pretty run of the mill dining experience. I visited pretty late at night as this chain is one of the few places open 24 hours a day (to which I give them serious kuddos, that’s really not easy!). However the restaurant itself was dirty, with used napkins and spills on the floor, some of which looked crusty (ew!). But again, as options are limited during that time, myself and some friends were seated and proceeded to attempt to gather some sustenance. The server was very busy as they only had one on staff for that shift, and it took a while to place the order and receive our food. Someone did come out to mop while we were eating, so at least they did try to address the floor issue. Basically here, and with most franchises in this chain, you get what you pay for. If you’re trying to sit down for a $ 4 meal at 3 am, you can’t really expect phenomenal, super enthusiastic servers at that time. Not a bad experience and definitely satisfying food for what it is!

I haven’t been here in years. Its a great place to get that greasy burger after a night of drinking. Its really cheap too. There milkshakes are always good as well.

Ok for starters I ordered sweet tea. not only did it come out in a humungous Styrofoam cup but the tea was fresh and didn’t have a bitter tinny taste! I also opted for creamy coleslaw instead of fries. I ordered the Chicago dog. cause I just love hotdogs. My dog was good, the bun was soft and the garden had crunch to it but my dog wasn’t as hot as it could have been. I hear the grill sizzling in the background but but my dog was med warm at best. Dont get me wrong my dog was cooked it’s just I would have liked it it little hotter. The coleslaw is creamy and crispy. I’m not sure that’s healthier than fries but it sounded good. I could have upgraded to a foot long for 40 cents more but didnt need the extra few inches. My server was quick and efficient and I guess because I didn’t want fries he figured I didn’t want dessert either and brought my bill after he gave me my Chicago dog. I noticed chili on the menu and definitely have to come back for a 3 way with cheese and onions. I also saw if you download their app on your phone you can have a free shake. I love a malted so my next cheat day may just be here. I’ve passed by here a million times and decided to try it for the first time today. I’m glad i did. It was the perfect fast food and I don’t feel stuffed or uncomfortable. I have to add I am shocked that the huge iced tea was only 50 cents. what! All together my dog, slaw and tea was only 4.76.a definite deal! I will will be back. I loved the Chicago dog!

The shakes were good but there were lots of ice crystals. It took me over 5 minutes to order, no lines just me waiting. Then we waited another 15 minutes for two shakes.
I watched a line build for the register, a line to be seated and the manager no where in sight.
To add to the fun, the floors were filthy with discarded lemon and lime wedges on the floor.

I hit up the drive through while in the area today and to be honest I don’t eat too much fast food and let alone write Unilocal reviews for fast food joints but if your in need for that quick inexpensive fix to relieve your hunger pains, this is your best option. I had the single steak burger and I have too say it was pretty good. This was the 3^rd time I have been to a Steak & Shake. This drive through adventure was a pleasant one. No Complaints, Price was right, A little greasy but I only ate only 1 so I cant complain. worth checking out if you haven’t tried them before.

THE MOST HORRIBLE SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD !!!
My waitress did not tend to us once and she was just sitting in a booth talking to her friends that came in !! We had no utensils. The single bacon cheese burger I ordered came with absolutely NO BACON !! I ordered tea and I was brought water. My food was cold and it took about an hour and a half to arrive. When I got up to leave she cussed me out and said she didn’t care if I called cooperate because this is her «side job» and it’s just «extra money» she made rude comments towards myself and my family. I will NEVER come here again !!!

Called to preorder a milkshake and they told me it would be 15 – 20 min … FOR A MILKSHAKE? No thank you McDonald’s here I come !
