Slumlords, even by Iowa City standards. Invent reasons for taking money out of deposits and brazenly violate city and state laws. If you rent from them, be prepared to end up in small claims court if you want to exert your rights. Best to stay away from them to begin with.

THE WORST RENTAL COMPANY IN IOWA CITY! Most arrogant and disrespectful landlord I have EVER dealt with. His assistant Tyler is extremely rude and zero experience in the industry.
HORRIBLE customer service. I had someone break into my apartment on a Friday and Tracy never showed up to check out the damage. Sent someone over on Tuesday to replace completely broken door.
Could not believe the way issues were handled with company and their license should be revoked.

Not a fan, terrible day to day experience with this company and they have some of the poorest customer service in Iowa city. Tracy nickle and dimes people and does not give you any respect. He will not respect your privacy and will demand access to your unit with no notice. Please be sure to review your lease before signing with Big Ten, and know your rights as they will try to cheat you at every turn.

Completely agree that I would give Big Ten a zero if I could. Tracy Barkalow is a scumbag human being who will try to charge you for damages you did not create. Tried to claim our last months rent check that we gave him upon signing the lease did not clear and wanted to charge us $ 80 more, when my roommate showed him her bank statement that showed she had plenty of money in her account he dropped the late fees. I think he probably did this cause he realized he got caught in his lie/​scam. DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE. They are so unhelpful and I think they are even worse than apartments downtown which is saying alot.

If I could give Big Ten a big ZERO, I totally would. Worst rental property I’ve ever lived in, with the absolute worst management. Don’t expect to get your deposit back, because Tracy Barkalow will STEAL it, and probably bill you for charges once you move out that are completely nonsense. Worst landlord I EVER had!
