Saf-T-Swim

My nephew takes lessons here and loves his instructor Emily! She is amazing with him and treats him as if he were like family every time! If all their instructors are like this, they are doing something right! I really enjoy attending lessons with him to watch him fall in love with her, the water and swimming. Did I mention he’s 1 year old and he swims. SWIMS! It really blows my mind what she has taught him!

The lifeguards and ok-​too young and checking phones during sessions — office staff is rude and the place is overpriced — they don’t teach enough life safety — only concentrating on the next session they want to sell u… three sessions of six classes each and my kid is just learning to keep himself a float (life safety) on the last session — at 169 $ each session — useless !

I recently visited Saf-​T-​Swim in Coram to inquire about purchasing a package for my daughter and grand daughter for Christmas. The woman I spoke with told me they were running a special for the holiday at $ 169 for 6 lessons with mother and daughter. I went home to discuss this with my wife and we agreed we should purchase it. Upon my return, one half hour later, I was now told that in addition to the $ 169 cost of the package, my daughter would have to pay a $ 20 «registration» fee. They asked me if I wanted to pay it for her in advance. When I questioned why this wasn’t «disclosed» to me before, I was told that this fee was to cover their insurance costs and to use the package I wanted to purchase it would have to be paid. How obsurd. That makes the true cost of the package and or any other «packages» they sell $ 20 more than is advertised, presented, or disclosed at there site. Finally, after expressing my displeasure at their deceptive practices, they got indignant and rude, telling me «that’s the way it is» and we don’t care who you report us to. I will be reporting them to the BBB, consumer affairs and the attorney generals office for deceptive sales tactics and non-​disclosure.

Place is OK. Too many minors are lifeguards. Staff is friendly. Overpriced. For birthday parties they don’t pay attention to the kids as much as they should.
