I can’t think of a complaint about this Farmer’s Market other than one instance when I purchased some bad sweet potatoes. By bad I mean they started spotting and going bad within a 2 week period. This should not reflect the over all status of the Farmer’s Market. I’ve been buy fruits and vegetables there for over 30 years and I will continue to do so over my life span. For freshness and price, they can’t be beat.

This used to be a good farmers market years ago. But now there are few local farmers here and few things offered other than Florida watermelons in the summer.

Cordele is the watermelon capital of the world. Unfortunately, when I visited last week, the watermelons aren’t in season yet. This State farmer’s market is huge. Currently, they have the following in season: assorted peppers, tomatoes(the sweetest I’ve had anywhere), potatoes(regular and sweet), okra, beans, and kale. A huge delivery of kale and chard were being unloaded during my visit. Everything is fresh from the local farms. A must-visit if you are in the area. I spent $ 23 on 20 pounds of assorted fresh veggies. Can’t beat that. Don’t forget to get a bottle of pure cane sugar!
