Pay no attention to the star review I just gave. This place has changed yet again. Now the name on the building is City Hall. Not sure what is going on here now. Maybe just a name change or maybe more, who knows.

I’ve been to this place exactly twice. Once for dinner, and once for drinks with friends. Essentially, it’s an upscale restaurant during the early evening hours, then the scene changes and it turns into nightclub late. Now, I hate to be a party pooper, but honestly, I was not especially impressed with the food. I mean it was good. Just not great. And when the entrees are priced around $ 30 each, I expect great. I had the Grouper, which was blackened and served over spoon bread. It was nicely prepared, although maybe not quite spicy enough. When I order something blackened, I am thinking New Orleans spice and heat. And it just wasn’t present in this dish. But otherwise it was good. Before it opened, rumor had it the place was going to be a strip club. It certainly looks like one. The décor is a little opulent — a little too much so for the kind of place it is, so you wonder what’s going to happen down the road. Will it eventually turn into a strip joint? Humm…we shall see. Meanwhile it’s a decent place to eat and a pretty happening night spot in Cordova. I say go, but don’t forget your wallet. You’ll need it.

It was on a whim that we went to Stella Marris last night…“opulent” is an understatement of the décor. Once inside, you are instantly transported to a very Vegas-esque place. Sadly, the Vegas action was very much missing. On a Friday night @ 8 pm, it was dead as a door nail. The drinks were ehhhh… okay. I ordered a Cosmo and a dirty martini(neither were executed very well) before giving up & just having a glass of wine. We ordered oysters on the half shell, which were delicious. For entrees, we had the fillet & grouper with jalepeno spoonbread. The fillet was good… but far from being a prime cut of meat. The fish was very tasty. The place started filling up around 9, and from what I can see, it turns into quite the meat market. We got the bartender upstairs to give us a tour of the locked private rooms upstairs and they are quite impressive… I can only think that Mr. Cooper, the owner, had other plans for this place(coughcoughSTRIPCLUBcoughcough), but for now, it’s just a very lovely restaurant that is lacking in patronage. Also, it should be noted that it was being run by an ex-manager of Ruths Chris… now he is gone & its being run by a guy that worked at Red Lobster for 30 years.

I went last night for my birthday! It was alot of fun! Its basically a steak and seafood restaurant that turns into a club on the weekend. Extremely NICE inside!!! They do live bands and live dj all night. The people are fun… some ready to party, some just eating those chicken wings that smell hella good and some people there mingling and looking good tryna find somebody to «poke» tonight lol… Fun new spot oh and no line…$ 6 cover and drinks are pretty cheap too
