An update. the doctor took the time and care to look into ingredients I sent over. Super nice and we found out a few things that may be causing my problems. So glad they took the extra time to dig deeper

I’ve been to 1 other allergy specialist in my adult life so I don’t have a vast amount of experience to compare this visit to. First impression was odd. The receptionist was telling me how badly she was suffering from allergies and had a Zyrtec sample pack on the desk. She said she just didn’t know what to do and heard Zyrtec made you sleepy. I kept thinking how weird why don’t you ask one of the dr’s, this is their specialty. Then I did the whole history thing with the MA and went over my allergies to pets, outdoors and hornet and bee stings. I then briefly met with Dr Herring who ordered allergy skin tests. Every time the dr needed to do his part the nurse would say he’ll be right in and I waited and waited and waited and waited. It was painful. In the end it was recommended I do shots. The video said twice and week every week then for the next 7 months once a week. On the way into my appt a patient had said they were coming in for their weekly shot and I asked how long that takes and he said you get the shot and have to wait 30 min but he’s typically there for a full hour. So this program would require me to invest 72 hrs(plus travel time) of my life over the next year to do this program. The dr explained that if I miss a week or shot it sets you back, I travel a lot so I knew this just couldn’t work for me. My sister is an injection RN and their policy is all shots have to be given in house or they could coordinate with another allergist office out of state. Moving on, I still need allergy relief here, he prescribed Levocetirizine which is very similar to what I’ve been taking Zyrtec. He said he would call in a 90 day which he didn’t, he called in 30 so I had to call their office from the pharmacy. We’ll see how that goes. I asked about refilling my expired epi pen and the dr said well that’s a whole other thing you should have told us about. Okay — I did. He said he would call in a refill but he didn’t and he said he’d give me a copay assistance card which he didn’t. I found this out at the pharmacy so again had to call his office. In generally I’m glad to know what my allergy testing revealed(and the woman who did the testing was nice). The dr was just a bit arrogant, a bit condescending and overall just not very helpful. I left thinking I need to go to my primary car doc to see what else we can try. In general I feel if I am paying for a service that I am the customer. I don’t care if you have your M.D. It does not excuse poor bedside manner. If I go back, doubtful, I will see a different dr. Total appt time 3 hrs
