On a recent tour of Lake Norman area breweries, D9 was our third and final stop along I-77, right behind Primal and Bayne. We had plans to hit Ass Clown too but time got away from us… Next time! The brewery is in an odd industrial complex, which I have to admit, feels a little weird. As we pulled in, I was convinced my GPS had taken me to the wrong spot until we spotted corn hole boards out front among the other nondescript business fronts. Bingo! Luckily, once inside the rustic(lots of handsome wood and dark leather clinches) tap room, you pretty quickly forget your surroundings. I ordered a small batch beer, the Cinnamon Session Brown Ale. It wasn’t awful but had a few sour notes that I didn’t love. Ted had the small batch Red IPA that he, «absolutely loved; it was AWESOME!» So again, we’re conflicted on our rating. Typical. ;) If we were a little closer to Cornelius, I think we’d visit often. They’re definitely worth a stop before/after lake days though! And, I’ll be sure to hunt them down at local beer fests.

Their sour game is very strong. Lots of great beers and very eclectic flavors. They have a food truck on site on the weekends too, impressed with this place!

First off — phenomenal beer. They are experimenting with great flavor combos and have some nice sours. Dogs are welcomed as long as they’re behaved and ample seating area for them outside. There is also large enough space inside to be comfortable & game tables for entertainment. The staff was friendly & knowledgable. Bathrooms were clean & easily accessible. They do flights of beer, you can choose any four which I was a huge fan of. Con — would be the location. The gps directs you to a house where they brew the beer, but the actually brewery is further down the road on the next street to the left(look for the umbrellas). *A little in the middle of nowhere. In the end — go for the beer. You will not be disappointed.

First time here and great atmosphere! I loved the set up and openness. I was a little disappointed they had no light beer on tap. The pale ale was out, and that was the closest thing. I had the Peruvian chocolate beer and my husband had the oatmeal raisin cookie. I especially loved the chocolate beer– just the right hint of chocolate. The bartender was very friendly and helpful. She took the time to explain the different options(Especially sours, since I wasn’t very familiar), and let me try a bunch. I will be back soon!

The staff was very friendly. The taproom has plenty of seating room. Some taprooms are cozy feeling, some with a cool vibe, some industrial feeling. I think D9 is leaning more towards industrial, but not completely that way. Its a spacious, high ceiling room, concrete floor, with tables, chairs. Some large community tables and some individual tables. It’s family friendly. There were several kids around. A family brought in food and was enjoying it with a beer. They have some games, foosball, etc. There was a food truck outside on Saturday evening around 5:30 pm. They had 3IPA’s, one pale ale, one stout, and about 6 sours. I had the Hakuna Matata IPA, and it was pretty good. Not overly hoppy, but also relatively unmemorable. My wife had a flight with 2 sours, the stout, and the Tangerine Session IPA. The bartender said the Tangerine IPA was their lightest beer, and not hoppy at all. My wife, who doesn’t like IPAs, actually liked it. I also thought it was pretty good for a refreshing beer, but probably not hoppy enough for typical IPA drinkers. I’m going with 3 stars because I wasn’t that impressed with the beer, and because the brewery competition in Charlotte is very strong. Its a decent brewery and I would come back if in the area. But I wouldn’t drive out of Charlotte just to visit here.

A really neat spot with some quite tasty beers! Definitely try their sours or their oatmeal cookie brown. It’s worth the drive up from uptown to check here and ass clown. Does not have food at the brewery, but there is are food trucks that show up to feed the hungry!

I will admit I am not a beer drinker. But these beers were true to their taste. The sours were sour. Their experimental beer called the«witless» was sweet and refreshing. Not having a huge knowledge base to determine the quality of beer I won’t speak too much on that besides saying that I enjoyed the 4 beers I selected for my flight. The atmosphere is laid back and the staff is friendly.

Most amazing little place! I was very skeptical about it at first because there is nothing around, but when I walked in I was pleasantly surprised. The bartender, Jackie, was so friendly and extremely helpful! She gave us a lot of interesting info! My favorite beer was by Witless! 100%!! I really hope they make it a permanent fix on the menu. I will constantly come back just to have it. Great selection otherwise. Very impressed.

In Charlotte there are no shortage of breweries. You can pretty much find any type of beer to quench your pallet within a few miles of your home. As such, there are so many different types of establishments trying to attract beer snobs like myself. D9 is the 15th brewery/tasting room I’ve visited in the last several months. The only reason I have not come sooner is because it is a bit further north than I generally like to venture to satisfy my craft beer taste buds. That being said, if D9 were within my daily driving radius, it would definitely be in my top 5 choices to visit. Like many of the other establishments, it has a great tasting room complete with tables, games, music, and other various flare. What makes this place great is the staff. When we came Jackie took the time to explain their selection in vivid colors. Unlike many places, she really does know her stuff and has a knack for explaining tastes. Personally, I lean towards the higher non-IPA octane varieties. D9 has a great selection, including an Imperial Black Ale that comes in at 10% and an unclassified sweet experimental that taps in at 13%. While they have other high ABV choices, we came on Valentine’s and they didn’t have them on tap so that some of their sweeter choices were available. I’ll need to come back to try the others later. They offer flights; a canned version of the Growler we called a Crowler; and they will fill up Growlers from other locations. They also have a variety of swag for sale and a fair section of bottled beers in 4-packs if you want to bring the fun home with you. All in all, D9 is a great option for any craft beer enthusiast.

What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than to venture out to some of the great breweries in Charlotte. D9 is a fair drive North to Cornelius. They have a fantastic selection of beers from IPAs to Ales to Porters. Low to high octane(13%)! I love my breweries and this place does not disappoint. Games, couches, great music and wonderful service. Jackie was the only one working when we visited but she rocked it and took care of everyone. She was very knowledgeable about the beers too! This is refreshing as I always like to learn new things: especially about beer. Flights were very very popular! Don’t forget your doggies. It’s pet friendly. Oh, and, they have wireless, just ask for the password.

Driving home from Charlotte Boyfriend and I decided to stop by D9, Ass Clown Brewing Co and Primal Brewery since I have been dying to try them and they are all within 2 miles of each other. Out of the 3 around this area, D9 was definitely my favorite! Flight 1 — Our Town Brown, Holiday Hope, Wishlist Christmas Collaboration and Battle Hymn I enjoyed the Battle Hymn, a black IPA, and the Wishlist, a tasty collaboration ale but you have to like ginger to enjoy this one. I was so impressed with flight 1 that I had to get another to try more D9 beers plus they changed the TV to the UNC V Georgia Tech basketball game so I couldn’t leave before half-time. Flight 2 — Southern Tea, Whiskers on Kittens, Witless Ale and Hakuna Matata This was Boyfriend’s favorite flight, minus the Whiskers on Kittens since he does not like sours but I do so I got it all to myself. I let him have the Southern Tea since I do not like tea, not sure how that is possible since I grew up in the South. Hakuna Matata is a smooth drinking IPA plus the name is a wonderful phrase! Our favorite beer out of all 8 that we tried was the Witless Ale, it tasted similar to apple juice and at 13% it is dangerously good! The bartender, I think her name was Brie?, was just as passionate about beer as I was which made for great conversation. I almost forgot to mention that the tap room is spacious and nice. There are several games to play as well as an outdoor seating area. I wish this place wasn’t as far away but I hope to make it back for another visit soon.

LOVE this place! We were on our way to Assclown brewery when we found out they were closed on Sundays so we looked up other breweries in the Cornelius/Mooresville area and saw D9. What a great place. The staff and patrons were all very friendly and welcoming. The Viking is now my favorite sour of all time! So delicious(I’ve pretty much single handedly drained Juggheads of their keg of the stuff). It’s a large venue and they even have outdoor seating. My aunt lives in the area so next time we go to see here we will def be stopping by for a pint! :)

The only problem with this place is it’s out in Cornelius. I like what D9 is doing and I drink the Viking every week so when they did their bottle release I headed up! The place is part of an office park so it is a different experience than the breweries in Charlotte, but at least I didn’t have to park in a gravel lot and play frogger across a busy street.

High ceilings and stencil block wall art. They don’t have a farm house ale or a saison so I tried their sweet ale. It was more bitter than I’d like. The men folk liked the Viking sour and the Uptown Funk; also a sour. They have uno cards and a Foosball table. Also if you’re a young married hipster your children can play with the Duplos. The bartender was nice when I perused the tee shirt rack.

This is the new location for D9. It’s in a small industrial park off of Old Statesville Road. Despite the industrial location, they make the inside work with a mixture of comfortable seating, high top tables, 4 seater tables and the seats at the bar. They have a variety of beers on tap including IPAs, pale ales and their Viking Froach sour. On weekends they will have a food truck onsite. They also have a foosball table. The staff is great here. Very welcoming and friendly. Thiis brewery has a bright future. Check them out when you have a chance!

D9 is where it’s at. My husband and I frequent local breweries often and I have yet to experience the amazing customer service as we did at D9. We went on the first beautiful Sunday of the year and the weather was perfect. We were there pretty early(no judgement please, lol) so at the time we were the only two customers. I love it when the bar is small and intimate because you can really connect and learn. It always takes me a while to choose my beer as I am quite particular. Our beer-tender really took the time to find out what our taste was and he prompted us to try a variety of beers. I love that because you really get to hone in on what you like. I started with the Hakuna Matata. It was great. Like most breweries you can see the brewing process. I love Breaking Bad so it always gives me that Heisenberg feel. We were taken on a tour of the process and it was amazing. No other brewery has offered to do that! I finished the day with the Witless. Let me tell you about the Witless. The taste is amazing; I literally drunk it with no problem. However, it will sneak up on you! Don’t be fooled by the sweet taste of peaches. It’s now one of my favorite drinks. In summation, D9 has impeccable customer service, the friendliest staff and a great layout. The beers are also equally amazing. This is definitely a hot summer spot, and we will be visiting again. Thanks to the great staff at D9 for showing us a good time.

Hello D-9! I really like your beer. Can we be friends?! Located in a Cornelius industrial park, you must make D-9 a part of a brew tour North of Charlotte. The double doors open to a very spacious taproom. Yes, it’s more function than looks; a very clean and neat warehouse with plenty of high tops and stools. That’s because there’s some serious beer makin’ going on. Hakuna Matata New Zealand IPA and Twelve Pale Ale were solid, tasty products. The best for me was their Battle Hymn Black IPA. Just a plain, damn good beer. Nice. If you like Sours, this may be your place; there were at least two of them on tap. Seasonals plus guest taps(like Unknown and Triple C) round out the selection. I’m a fan! I remember they brought some excellent beer to Unilocal Get Freaky at the Factory too!

If you find yourself in an office park– yes, your GPS did navigate you to the correct place. Look for the D9 flags and such. I enjoyed a delicious and unique sour beer. You can get a flight of four beers for $ 7, solid. Some soft seating but mostly chairs and table. Nice place to play darts or foosball and food trucks on Fridays and Saturdays. I will say while the beer is unique and delicious the service on our visit was atrocious. After trying D9 at a Unilocal event we couldn’t wait for our first visit. Despite the moderate crowd the people(three) behind the bar seemed apathetic and otherwise occupied. Hope we just came on an off day. It took 15 minutes to put in the order for our drinks and not because of a very busy day. Others were waiting empty cups in hand while the staff flitted around… one even said she wasn’t the regular bartender.

The reason why I visited this place, is due to they announced the release of Black Ice Imperial Black Ale. I was visiting my friend in NC all the way from FL, and decided that that was something not to be missed. The beer was available only on that weekend. I have to say that it was the best beer that I have tasted. So good, that I bought a Fowler for I which I paid $ 27. Overall, the place is very nice, the guys who were serving were very very friendly, all of them wearing a polo shirt with the company logo. I had fun here. It was worth my visit.
