The GPS got me and my parents here just fine! More on that in a bit. Charlotte is a hole, especially this area! The roads are narrow and poorly marked, traffic is rushed with impatient drivers, so be prepared for that if you have to come here! It’s as if roads and signs were an afterthought, if thought of at all! Even the restaurants and stores seem hidden from view. Only the homes in the area were impressive. The Levine Cancer Institute is the place most recommended for the treatment of my fathers rare cancer — small-cell carcinoma. And, since talking with the doctors, I can see why; they were very honest about the surgery and treatment, and talked about many options for us. They do this exclusively and know the risks and benefits. It was a relief to speak with doctors who spoke with such authority and in easy to understand language. The Levine Cancer Institute is in the same complex as the Medical Center and Hospital, where the procedures are performed. Two coffee shops in LCI alone, and several eateries throughout both, luckily, since restaurants are like finding bigfoot! Large waiting room with massive windows were you can watch medical helicopters fly in and out of the hospital. Free wifi, also! They even have an option for out-of-towners(like us) to stay at a local hospitality for forty dollars per night.(We have not seen this place yet, so I can not comment on it’s quality nor standards.) From Charleston, the drive to Charlotte is about 4 hours. If you have a GPS not properly set up, the drive back will be longer! Mine took me away from Highway 77 down back roads and got us thoroughly lost! I had to stop and ask directions. Later, I found a factory pre-set for roads with speed limits to be UNDER50 mph!!! No wonder it kept me off Hwy 77, who’s speed limit is 70 mph.
