A very interactive museum about a few native species in the Hudson valley. A nice place to take children on a rainy day. It would have been nicer if the staff had been friendly, knowledgeable, and less rude. The animals were all taken care of well. The grounds were pleasant for a short hike. Hike at your own risk, however, as grounds could be better maintained and safer. Call ahead to make sure scheduled events are actually being held. I’ve been here twice with family. The outdoor discovery place is basically the same rude people, not well maintained, but good for a cautioned trip with children.

Great place to take the kids to have them burn a little energy outside. Check out grasshopper grove behind the outdoor discovery center. Note theHHNM has two locations: the wildlife center and outdoor discovery center.

Lots to see and touch. Animal show was great.
Most appropriate for 2 to 8 year olds but my older ones had a good time as well.
