Service was pretty bad. The waitress didn’t even ask us how our meal was. Food was pretty mediocre. Place seems very outdated. Not impressed. Won’t be coming back.

Arite, so the menu gave me an extreme OCD attack. Different colored sheets, fonts were all over the place, tacos in the Pasta section, hoodies in the sides section, inconsistent ORing on the beer menu, prices missing or forgotten… I couldn’t stop looking at the tragedy that is this menu layout. And the food was at times good, sometimes weird flavoring though prepared very well. Like the beautiful pad Thai that my friend gave a shot… looked amazing but tasted like ketchup, and the sons noodles in that was previously forgiven for the sake of fusion, I guess. Some of the entrees looked very good like the fish & chips but not at 24 dollars. And the fried chicken should not be in the 20s either. The salads, too, had substance but also a bit of price attached to it. Loved our server. Fun layout of the restaurant. The beer selection is great but, again, its presentation of it on the menu is not. Would I go back? Definitely if I was playing with someone else’s money. I’d get those huge nachos and some interesting beer. I’d also be willing to experiment. I kind of wish there were pictures of all the dishes somewhere too. I could see the focaccia being great but I didn’t want to take the chance. Yes, pictures would quell me a bit.

It seems to me that the American Hamburger is experiencing a renaissance which appears on the surface a counter-intuitive statement however in the case of Painter’s is not. I do not remember to name of the particular hamburger entrée that I had however I am sitting at my desk some 2 weeks later reliving the experience, service and flavors… yes…they were that memorable… all of them. I have been going back and forth to West Point over the last 5 years and unfortunately just discovered this restaurant at my Cadet’s graduation. Not only was the hamburger and service superb but the craft been menu(a resurgence of Canadian Craft Beers as well as American) and the onion rings were quite notable. If you are a frequent visitor to the Highlands you should not overlook this restaurant.

The best for an authentic home made meal and lodging. I know it’s authentic cause I live here ever year for three nights and the Chef begins preparing«stuff» at 0600! I smell wonderful aromas wafting up to my quaint BR!

It’s only ok and that’s disappointing, with so many wonderful restaurant choices in the Hudson Valley. First, it’s expensive. $ 24 for fish and chips?! $ 24 for fried chicken?! We settled for some apps and sandwiches. We asked our server twice for a children’s menu and it was never delivered. We must have arrived near a shift change because one server took our order and another waited on us for the rest of the visit, but with no notice to us. $ 55 with tip for 2 apps and a sandwich… we won’t be back.

My wife and I stopped by for lunch. Staff was very pleasant and the atmosphere is very nice. The drink selection is very nice and a pleasant surprise. We had the cheese plate appetizer which gets my vote for best appetizer I have ever had. I ordered a burger, which was very good. It is a bit pricey, but portions are large and the food is great. Lunch for two was $ 56 with no alcohol.

Cold, cold night… wish we could’ve been closer to the fireplace. Quaint, but no one’s here for the ambience. Service is pleasant if not always attentive but they do get busy. French onion soup came out with steaming hot cheese on top, but lukewarm soup underneath. Sent it back… they microwaved it and sent it back out! Still, tasty if not artful. The hangar steak was delicious, the spinach with garlic on the side ordinary but the truffled sweet potato fries delicious. The dragon bowl featured a lovely peanut sauce drowning terribly mushy soba noodles(they said they always come out mushy cuz they’re not Italian — I don’t think so!), but the dish was much better, if soupy, with linguine. Okay, but choose carefully. Best feature: nicely-vslued wine list.

Very meh unfortunately. I ordered a $ 32 sirloin and I ordered it rare. It came out near well done and was tasteless and dry. Sadly the $ 10 steak from a chain like Texas Roadhouse is better than this. I’ve had $ 30 steaks in the past, and this was so not worth it. Mashed potatoes that came with it were dry and cold. Pretty poor experience.

Excellent lunch… butternut squash soup and goat cheese salad. Everything was fresh and flavorful. We had forgotten how extensive their menu is. Glad we stopped.

My boyfriend and I only stayed for drinks, but it was awesome. Huge beer selection, our bartender was nice and attentive. It’s a little bit on the pricy side but they have a huge selection of top shelf liquors. I also loved the mural in the bathroom, cats in a tub adorable!

When our food came out and I saw my fries were out of a bag, I knew how everything was going to taste. First, they were out of two beers and one whiskey that was on the menu. The chicken sandwich had a very odd texture and tough, meaning it was frozen. Next we ordered and never saw our server again until it was time for the check. I understand why people in Cornwall like it, as it is the only place that is not 100% fried food, but the other places you know what you are getting when you oder. Bottom line… Skip this place and hit a diner. Same quality of food with better service and you will still have a few bucks in your pocket.

Nestled in the lovely town of Cornwall-on-Hudson, Painter’s is an inn and restaurant that offers high quality with a small town feel. Our one-night stay to visit a friend was a highlight of our east coast meandering road trip. There are only a handful of rooms above the restaurant that can be booked for over night stay. We enjoyed the extremely roomy suite with a queen bed. It was impeccably clean, quiet, and absolutely charming. This is not like a regular hotel with 24-hour front desk service. You check in at the restaurant hostess stand and are given a front door key to let yourself in or out when the restaurant closes. But this is the fun of Painters and I loved it. We sat in the cozy little sitting area at the top of the stairs and enjoyed listening to the hustle and bustle of the restaurant. We made our was downstairs for drinks and dinner. How awesome that we could go right to our room above for anything we needed. The kids in our group loved that they didn’t have to sit with the adults bored by the conversation! The bartenders are experts and we enjoyed delicious, strong cocktails. And the food? Excellent! The potato skins had a nice little crisp to them and the calamari were full of flavor. I thoroughly enjoyed the fresh, tasty Caesar Salad topped with a perfectly grilled filet of salmon. We tried a tuna special which was very good. We weren’t big fans of the chicken Parmesan, though… The sundried tomato was a bit overpowering for the dish. Overall, the beautiful and creative décor was so inviting and the staff are friendly and accommodating. There is a fabulous private room and bar to the right that can be booked for private parties and events. When the dinner rush subsided, we soaked up the hushed quiet of the inn. I truly wished we could have extended our stay to explore more of the town. Alas, we’ll just have to plan another trip! And I can’t wait to visit Painters again. Two thumbs way up!

Painters never disappoints! I’ve been 5 times now and tonight ventured off the always delicious specials menu and ordered chicken parm; one of their staples. I anticipated the usual breaded chicken but theirs actually comes as a pasta dish… order it, its’s amazing! Creamy pasta magic. If you’re looking for a new spot painters is worth your time. They have reasonably priced wine list, seriously tasty warm goat cheese salad(no skimping here… comes with oranges, almonds, olives, onion and a generous goat cheese portion), always good stuff on the special menu and fantastic friendly staff. We happily trek the 30min to this spot. Great for summer as well since they have a large outdoor space.

I wish I could comment on the food. I walked in with my son who got all dressed up for our weekly date and the hostess did not even look up at us. After SEVERAL minutes of waiting to be acknowledged, we just walked out. And no, she didn’t attempt to stop us.

We found Painter’s while driving and looking for a quaint spot for lunch. Parking right in front. A gorgeous day so we sat outside and were allowed to have our small dog sit with us. Service was prompt and friendly. Yummy menu — lots of vegetarian choices — hard to choose. Recommend the warm goat cheese salad. Painter’s is a little bit of heaven and I look forward to going back!

My bf and I came up here for the weekend. We started off with the gorgonzola fondue appetizer(which was ridiculously unhealthy but so delicious). For our main course I had the duck sliders and my bf had the Painter’s Burrito with pulled chicken. Both dishes were delish(my bf finished his ginormous burrito). For dessert we had the green tea ice cream which was aiiiiteee but on the menu/per the waitress this is a gelato but the consistency and texture just wasn’t «gelato-ey». The décor in Painter’s is very cute — kinda like a barn meets art gallery. I’m a fan of cute places like this however, the atmosphere felt kinda depressing and a bit too dim(not romantic/good mood dim but dingy dim). We dined in the main room(the back is where the bar is) and it was a decent size. Lots of the diners were families and other young’uns(teenagers? college-ers?). While the food was good, the atmosphere really just wasn’t doing it for me. The plus of Painter’s is that its one of the few places in the area that’s open late and has a bar. If I’m in the area, I would definitely come back tho as the food options on the menu piqued my curiousity.

I’ve had a few pleasant experiences here: two dinners and two brunches. Portions are huge, prices are reasonable, and the waitstaff are all very friendly. The front room is very child friendly, and the bar room is a little more appropriate for adults only. People get really drunk here, but I’ve never witnessed an embarrassing scene, and thankfully I’ve never taken place in one, either. There are literally a few dozen pages of choices between beers and wines and liquors; the menu goes on and on and on. Prices are affordable considering the quality. But enough about the alcohol, this place is so much more than just that. There’s also some really good food offered, particularly the Biscuits & Sausage Gravy, the Curry Dusted Sea Scallops, and the Steak Nachos. I can’t wait to return and try a lot more!
