Corolla Wine Cigar and Gourmet

This place is amazing! If you’re looking for something exotic and different and there’s a need for party materials, this is the place. Kenny and Mary are awesome. The wine wine and cigar collection is the best i’ve seen. A must visit if you’re in Corolla in season.

Lady at the front counter tried to tell my 18 year old cousin that he was not old enough to go in the humidor. Even though he had his licence out and handed IIT to her as soon as he entered the shop. She then argued with him for a good five minutes that he was not old enough to go in and even went so far as to say that he wouldn’t be 18 until September. Even though he will be 19 this year. She finally just told him to go in. I tried to show her my licence to prove I was old enough also and she said why bother because she knew I was just gonna wine about it like my cousin did. Even though I’m 20 so there wouldn’t have been any confusion. Its a terrible place to go and I will never be going back.

This is one of those shops that I have been wanting to check out in Corolla, but they are always closed off season. I had to stop in when we visited this last weekend. What a great little shop! Nice selection of wines at reasonable prices. Nice cigar room. Upstairs held a selection of candles and giftware. This place had some really unique products and I managed to get a bit of Christmas shopping done in addition to picking up some new wines to try. The owner was helpful and very friendly. In fact, he gave us his card and told us to let him know if we needed anything when we were down off season again. Bonus — we found some Orin Swift wines we hadn’t had the opportunity to try yet. If you are in the area and a fan of wine and/​or cigars, stop by for a visit. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Good selection, however very overpriced. Go to either the food lion or brew thru for your alcoholic beverages.

Aroma as you enter this little shop was inviting, but you go to the humidor room where they keep the cigars and its close to being bare. It was a small room, Hopefully this is because of the «season «coming to a close and they are just trying to get the remaining cigars out. I say no more than 3 people can fit in there, so me being a big guy it was tight quarters almost.
The wine selections they have are good, some great selections to choose from, I went with a beautiful Cavit bottle, of an ’ 2010 selection. If you can’t find the wine of your choice, there is a second floor with much more selections to choose from.
Friendly service, great scent once you enter this establishment. I’d have to come back when the season is in full swing to see if the selections of cigars has increased with a wider variety to choose from.

Good wine selection. Separate room for beers and had some selections not available at other gourmet beer/​wine stores in Duck. Worker was not overly friendly. Hard to compare beach stores like this, to those back in Northern Virginia as they never really measure up unless the store workers are friendly. Selection was great for an OBX store.

This was my second year visiting this shop and the experiences were very consistent. I wandered in both times looking for a few sticks to enjoy in the evenings and, although the selection is quite small, tastes have been well represented. I am a huge fan of Rocky Patel cigars and have found them here (1 or 2 variations) every time. This year I left with a Nub Connecticut (new to my list of favs), a Patel Vintage, and a Montecristo (some Connecticut wrapper variety). I will say I found prices to be a dollar or two per stick high, but I don’t think that’s unreasonable at all.
The shop owner has been friendly on both visits and even gave me some tips and suggestions on sweeter white wines (my wife’s favorite) last year when I was in that were a hit!
Certainly worth a look, but I cannot make it a 5-​star strictly because of the limited selection — which I think they do a fantastic job of considering the space they have to work with.

Terrible cigar selection. Essentially a gas station selection in a small walk in humidor. Reasonable unsocial staff that was more interested in discussing a concert than helping customers. I was particularly shocked to find that they were attempting to sell poor counterfeit Cohiba Esplenditos for about $ 11. I’m not sure if I was shocked because Cubans are illegal and those who deal in them stateside typically keep them under the counter, or because of how poor of a counterfeit they were. Had I not ran out of cigars during my vacation and was not in desperate need I would have walked out empty handed. I will wholeheartedly agree with the other reviewer and call this establishment embarrassing.

Corolla Wine, Cigar and Gourmet was our diamond in the rough. We came to the Outer Banks for a family reunion and really wanted a place to hide and hang out. I contacted Kenny through his web site email and he kept in touch with me months before our visit.
When we arrived, we came to the store to pick out some local wine and enjoy a cigar from the walk in humidor. I was very excited to meet Kenny face to face, and when I did, he was gracious, helpful and funny even though he was exhausted from spending the day at the Whalehead Club for his wine festival.
He let us taste a few wines he had left over/​open from the festival and we chose a local wine and a sweet red German wine to purchase. We sat on the balcony enjoying our cigar and drinking our wine.
The shop is small, but has a nice selection of wines and his walk in humidor has a small selection, but there is something for even the pickiest cigar connoisseur.
If you are in the Outer Banks and like wine or cigars, PLEASE stop by and pick up a bottle or two or three. Call ahead as this store does have seasonal hours.
