From the reviews I thought this restaurant was going to be GREAT, I thought wrong! It’s very expensive! I got a hot sub but it was old! The onion ring was good though.

Food was good, but nothing special to set it apart from other steak & cheese. Would eat there again, but would try other places first.

This is the best Philly cheesesteak I have ever had. Super thinly sliced meat grilled perfectly with whatever toppings you like. The perfect amount of cheese to hold it together, soft fresh bread… It’s all so perfect together. The staff was all very kind and friendly, it takes a few minutes for the food to get out but only because it is all made fresh as orders come in. The onion rings are great too, very crispy, crunchy batter coating which always makes a great onion ring in my opinion. I highly recommend stopping by and I plan to go again before my visit here is over!

Loved the cheesesteak with whiz and onions. Generous portion of fries, we shared a small amongst three people. My husband opted for a turkey sub and really enjoyed it, they were accommodating with changing toppings and making it a cold sub instead of toasted.

On my first trip to the Outer Banks last year my friends, who are long time NC vacationers and Philadelphia natives, got us cheesesteaks for lunch from Philly Steak Subs. I am always wary of out-of-town cheesesteak spots… and there are a bunch of Philly cheesesteak spots IN Philly that I wouldn’t go near with a 10-foot pole either. Soooo I was thinking my friends were crazy. ANDTHEN I TOOK A BITE! If you’ve never had a Philly cheesesteak and you want an example of the ABSOLUTEBEST example for about 200 miles, you should absolutely go to Philly Steak Subs. We had several kinds and were sharing them all… their mushroom steak is fantastic, the classic with cheese and onions was amazing… even the plain one(no cheese) was tasty. The bread was great, the steak was great tasting and PLENTIFUL, the cheese was all melty and distributed throughout the meat… I can’t wait for my next trip down to Corolla to have one!

We just enjoyed a much anticipated and delicious lunch of Mushrooms and Peppers Phili Cheesesteaks with large sides of onion rings and seasoned fries with Vernor’s Ginger soda! Quick and friendly service in a relaxed environment is what we also look forward to! This is a «must visit» for our family vacations in Corolla! We absolutely love and enjoy the overstuffed cheesesteaks which are delicious and prepared just right!!! Thank you for being such a fun part of our OBX vacations! Till next time!

The cheesesteak sandwiches were absolutely delicious! I would rank it in the top 3. The service was good and the food came out surprisingly fast. I will definitely be back.

I’m not going to write a lengthy review. I will say this… BESTDAMNSTEAKSUB I HAVEEVERHAD! My mouth is watering right now thinking about it. The french fries are some of the crispiest most delicious things I have ever put in my mouth as well. EATHERE. A few of these reviewers offended by signage in the restaurant? Quit being so sensitive, Sally.

My family vacations to Corolla every year and this is a favorite of everyone’s! While we live in Indianapolis, my husband is a Pennsylvania native and will report these are as good as the real deal in Philly! I’m also partial to the cheese fries! The lines are always long for good reason, we visit in October out of season and it’s still always busy, but it’s worth it for a few minutes of waiting!

So, this time round seemed to be a bit better. Staff was much friendlier than 2 years ago this time of year and the subs and fries seemed to be better. We got the ranch fries this time. They were not battered and were really good. I would highly recommend them. The subs still kinda lacked a little in flavor to me but they were really full. We got 212in. subs, one Philly steak with onions and one with mushrooms, peppers and onions and mine was so full I ate a lot of the toppings with a spoon. One 12in was enough for me and 2 toddlers to make 2 meals for all of us. Was nice too that they didn’t charge me for the ranch. It was pricey for lunch but it ended up being 2 lunches for us all so $ 35 went a long way. AND, people have been much nicer this year so far. Apparently they got the memo that this is the BEACH! Be happy! ;-)

BEWARE they are serious about keeping the restaurant cool. So much so there is a sign on the door and a woman who monitored door openings. She walked in between my husband and I and closed the door and mumbled about keeping the door closed. I had to say excuse me just for her to release the door and get out of the way. The food was good and in the past the staff was great, today not so much(which is the reason for the 4star). They are definitely from Philly!

Very disappointed that it was only 730pm and they were closed! No chance to try this restaraunt while vacationing here! My husband and I had our hearts set on eating here tonight!

This place is cooked to order. Not fast food. And you can tell. You can tell by the taste and the wait. This is an above average steak and cheese place. It is especially good hidden up route 12 in Corolla. Steak and cheese restaurants so far away from civilization can make me nervous. But this place delivers.

Taste of home! Real cheesesteaks in OBX! The people who complain about service didn’t grow up in Philly… These guys are 10 times nicer than the Pats and Genos guys. Cold beer, cheesesteaks, and lots of Eagles and Flyers stuff on the wall…

We snuck away from our beautiful beach house to gorge on these fab subs. Interior is a bit dark and appears a bit dingy(although not dirty!) but the subs did not disappoint. They use Amoroso rolls straight from Philly, which really make the sandwich great. Nice amount of cheese, perfect grilled onions. Loved the fries with cheese whiz too! Crispy and delish! The sandwiches are cooked to order so they take a little while to come out, but they are definitely worth the wait. I know some people were upset about the snarky signs, but the food was super good and the people that took our orders were nice, so I didn’t really care. Good food=happy chick.

Best sandwich on the Banks! Order a #1 and you’ll be happy like me. Quick note for other reviewer’s who have problems with the signs… Take it with a grain of salt and enjoy a joint with personality unless you prefer your food served by a clown named Ronald.

Rude signs were posted throughout the store about don’t do this or don’t ask for that. Complaining that if you don’t like it go elsewhere. People who treat their customers like this don’t deserve the business. They are darned lucky to be in a tourist location because they likely have no repeat customers. The food was sub par and miles away from anything that I’ve had in Philly, where I visit about(6) times per year. As mentioned in other reviews, the lackluster service promotes the poor business plan theme. When asking the counter for something for our order, a snarky«did you want something?» Was the reply. I would normally give this a 2-star rating, but anyone this openly hostile towards their customers deserve nothing more than 1. For what it’s worth, I write very few 1-star reviews. Restaurants really have to go above and beyond for those! Congratulations! Jeez.
