Loved Kelly and every coffee drink I tried was delicious! The Cocoa-nut was my favorite. A must visit!

Corolla Village is charming no matter what but add the coffee shop and beer garden and there’s no better place!

This place was awesome! The coffee was fantastic and Kelly was radical :) if you’re in town, this is the only place to get coffee and although I didn’t go to the beer garden, I’m sure it’s just as wonderful!

Highly recommended. While staying in Corolla my girlfriend and I dropped in both for coffee and subsequently a night out with friends at the bar. Cute shack on the inside which serves up some great iced coffee. The bar is also great, with a very relaxed atmosphere and great selection of beers. We were graced with some excellent live music while we were there as well. Staff is very friendly. Looking forward to my return trip.

So glad we discovered this place… and a little reluctant to tell others about it for fear of ruining it. But Matt(owner) is awesome and deserves to do well. Great place to sit and drink a beer… order a pizza and have it delivered.

Pros Cool seating Corn hole They have alcohol It’s something to do They let you bring in food Cons Bathroom is a porta potty(they have a bathroom inside but don’t want to let people In since the coffee shop closes at 4) Only beer and wine(no mixed drinks) Cheap wine gave me a headache They are sticklers about ID … Tough to even go up and get a round for your group. …we kept getting a hard time. All of our ID was checked when we arrived but if one person went up to get five beers not gonna happen. No waitress only service is at the bar. Biggest con— there are kids here. I mean I love kids I plan on having a few but we went for some drinks before dinner around 5:30. There were a bunch of toddlers and babies too. Tough to chill when a random baby could scream bloody murder.

Little gem of a coffee shop, husband/wife owned. Visited every morning during our week long stay in Corolla. Great coffee and warm and inviting eclectic vibe. Not to meeting good coffee for the coffee snob(like me) :) The owner remembers you and is very friendly! Haven’t been able to visit the beer garden part as we have young kids, but they play live music once a week during the summer months. Hope to check it out one of these years once our kids are older.

I love this place! It’s a go to must if you’re visiting Corolla in the Outer Banks during the warmer months. Beware, it’s a completely outdoor bar so keep you’re cool if you see a spider crawling down from an overhead tree limb. The beer selection is plentiful at this place. They even have a mobile beer truck that travels around to surrounding areas. The bartenders are nice enough and really laid back(it is a beach atmosphere after all). The also have live music on some nights which makes for an awesome atmosphere.

Corolla is a unique destination in the Outer Banks. Unlike Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Southern Shores, etc. Corolla is home of the sprawling shopping centers rather than unique stand alone businesses. The Shack is an exception. Tucked away behind a wild horse tour company this little spot did us just right on our second to last day staying in the area. As soon as we took a seat we knew were in capable hands and I took it all in. Sprawling grounds under a beautiful tree with unique seating(brought back from Indonesia) along with the bar top itself. How do I know this? Because I was sitting next to the woman who runs the coffee shop upstairs and her cute as hell boyfriend runs the beer garden. How cool is that? 2 businesses in one, closed from October to February. Man what a life. The beer was served in plastic cups, which I did not love but I did love everything else about this adorable beer garden. We met my brother, wife and 3 boys, it was early around dinner time. My sister and husband joined us as well and we had our own little happy hour. If you find yourself in Corolla and you like beer this is the spot folks. Enjoy.

Went for the live music last Wednesday night. Great selection of beer. But, I opted for the refreshing Hard Cider. The place was beautiful, lots of lightening, unique tables and seating. It quickly filled up. Live Music began at sunset. I highly suggest going early if you’d like a good table. Loved the ambiance. Very chill. It was a relaxing experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it here. Bartenders were nice and did a great job slinging beers. If we stay in Corolla again, next year, I will definitely go back. Probably will stop by during the day for some corn-hole too! The only downfall was the overwhelming amount of bugs. They had a bug zapper and offer complimentary bug spray at the bar. Which is really cool and thoughtful! But it was still really bad! Members of my group still were getting attacked and had a ton of bug bites. Which ultimately made us leave a whole lot earlier than I would have preferred. I’d probably bring my own Citronella candle and bug spray next time… as lame as that sounds.

Great local hangout spot. Tucked away from throngs of tourists, this bar is a breath of fresh air for people who love beer and conversation. Unique setting, good music, and very chill vibe.

This place is super chill, coffee is good, conversation is great. Owned locally and a hidden gem. Chairs and atmosphere is completely different than any other coffee bar. Be sure to check this place out!!! Also, the coffee is reasonably priced! White unicorn is the bomb!

I can speak for The Shack Coffee Shop, but not for the Beer Garden(sorry, underage still). The Shack Coffee Shop was a wonderful experience. This is coming from a guy who doesn’t drink a whole lot of coffee! They offer many different drinks in addition to the regular coffee fare, such as frappes(which are my absolute favorite), smoothies, and even mimosas. The Shack Coffee Shop also has coffee cake, muffins, and bagels to compliment your morning beverage. With a comfortable & cozy vibe inside and VERY friendly service, I would recommend this place for anyone to try while they vacation in the Corolla area.

Lots of choices for craft\local beer on tap and in the bottle. Bar tenders are friendly and fun to talk to. The best part is this place is walking distance to surrounding houses. The down side is they don’t have any food or snacks. The saving grace is that Corolla pizza is a parking lot a way. I highly recommend this place if you need to escape a packed beach house or just want a night out.

Best beer garden I’ve ever been to(and I’ve frequented more than I’d like to admit)! Matt and Kelly are the best! Took care of our family like we were their good friends! @Katie R — not sure why the bad 2 star review. The lighthouse was not a good experience but what’s that have to do with The Beer Garden??? Please change — this place rocks and folks should know about it! If you’re in the area and don’t visit here, you’re doing yourself a real disservice. Trust me, come by, have a beer(any you could think of), play some cornhole, listen to some good music, and thank me later. –Adam

When my search for coffee led me to this place, I had no idea I would fall in love. I read the reviews, and expected great coffee, but The Shack is so much more. I wish it existed at home so I could visit often. The overall vibe is awesome. It has such a great energy. The coffee is fantastic, as was the muffin my son and I shared. My husband had a giant chocolate chip cookie, which he generously shared, and I loved that as well. I have now visited four times since the day I found this gem, and my husband and I were able to get away for a few hours to enjoy the beer garden as well. There are twelve different beers on draft, and many many more by the bottle. Being craft beer lovers, we were thrilled with what they had to offer. It wasn’t long before we made a few friends and enjoyed a couple rounds of corn-hole. I will definitely find myself there a few more times before this vacation ends, even if it is just for coffee. I highly recommend doing yourself a favor if you are in the area by stopping in. The chances of you regretting it are slim to none.
