Only open from 10⁄15 — 12/31, this pop up store(with the ever-so-creative name of «Pop Up Store») is pretty damn rad. …and everything inside of it is much more exciting and creative than the name of the store. I knew I’d like it as soon as I saw supremely cute, yet minimalistic wrapped gifts in the window display. Call me a yuppie, but as much as cute junk at Target tempts me, I’m really trying to shop local for Christmas this year — and I think this place will be a big help. It’s not a huge shop, but it’s probably bigger than you expect, and they’ve got a bit of everything — t-shirts, stationery, old school toys, stuffed robots, home décor stuff, candy, and, well — lots of things that are all perfectly selected for their innate hipness and overwhelming cuteness. Is it expensive? Well, it’s in CDM, it ain’t cheap — but I was expecting the worst, so when I looked at some prices I was actually experiencing relief instead of sticker shock. Faux bois Christmas cards? Yes please, I’ll take two! Artsy schmartsy screenprinted tees? Yeah! A plain ol’ slinky, but in the cutest retro Slinky packaging box in the world? Hell to the yes. I just may make another stop or two here before the season is over.
