Very unprofessional Doctor. I waited 20 minutes in the waiting room, another 10 minutes in the patient room, was ready to leave this place after this long of a wait and go to my regular doctor 40 minutes drive away in OC since they see me right away, right then Doctor comes in, I tell him I was in a car accident 8 months ago, that Physical Therapy has helped a lot but since I moved from OC a month ago, I had stopped going(too far away). I am not at 100% recovery as I still have mild to moderate back pain, especially at night/in the early morning when the pain wakes me up. Said that unless I have an «objective» sign, as in MRI, x-ray, neurological signs, he cannot treat«subjective» pain. This visit was a complete waste of time, this«pain specialist» doctor doesn’t treat soft tissue back pain, I called ahead of time to check if the doctor treated soft tissue back pain, was told he did by his office staff. All I needed was a referral to Physical Therapy, maybe a prescription or advice on pain management but all the doctor did was second guess my «subjective» pain. In hindsight, I should have expected this. This place doesn’t have a website, cannot email you patient forms even when you ask them to, they do everything by fax or phone, they don’t take credit or debit, just cash or check. Office staff called twice after I left to ask insurance related questions. I’ve never had this sort of experience in OC with Doctors I’ve seen in the past, office seemed stuck in the 1980’s. I will not be seeing this doctor again and will share my «objective» facts and experience with everyone I know.

My first Visit with Dr. Eng was about 5 years ago when I had to have a test called an EMG, prior to back surgery. This past Fall, having serious back pain again, I recalled that Dr. Eng was a neurologist, specializing in pain management and did acupuncture as well. So I scheduled an appointment. He changed up my meds, told me that we could try acupuncture, but it may not work. That was OK, I will try it. So I returned the following week at 9:00 am shuffled in, the pain was off the chart. Dr. Eng came in and went straight to work. Within a few minutes I am laying there with half a dozen needles sticking out of my lower back. So I lay there, for 15 minutes or so, face buried in a pillow crying, Big baby. No, not the acupuncture, just tired of the pain all of the time. Soon I am done, and off to work, a 45 minute drive into the OC. As I go into the office, I realize as I go up the step, that I am not in pain… None, zip, zero… and the staff notices immediately that I am walking without pain. I see Dr. Eng 4 more times. I still have to be careful, when I over do it, like washing the car or yard work I get pain. But over all I am off pain meds and feel great! Dr Eng rocks. There’s something to be said about Chinese medicine, for more than 2000 years they have been practicing this procedure, Now I know why. And the cool thing is that modern medicine recognizes this. My regular Dr. was thrilled that I would be seeing Dr. Eng, and my insurance covers it, as most do now.
