I was here for the first time and last time. I bought ice cream for the child. good price and big balls. This situation disappointed me service. When they gave me one napkin. I asked for a second. I received only one piece! The third time the clerk sent me to a co-worker and from me sent with nothing. My kid was dirty but they don’t see problem. Never back.

I had great velvet cup cake here and the food was good. I only spent less than 10 mins waiting, and this place has a calm Colombian vibe. They don’t accept credit cards so that was a no bueno. Other than that, I’d say check this place out if you’re passing by but not as a planned place to eat, if you know what I mean.

Since the day they opened, I have came here. Workers hardly know English, Food takes forever to come. For the price, it only makes sense to have the same quality of food and service. Food is decent but its worth ordering from a different café.

The oreo and dulce de leche mousses here used to be very good, but for some reason the quality of their mousses has diminished. Prices of the pastries are decent and there’s moderate seating available as well. Even though the mousses are not what they used to be, I’ll give this place an extra star because they have a wide variety of menu items, including both Asian and South American dessert options. I’ve found service here to be polite and quick for the most part.

Very good coffee! The pan de queso are very good(not the best) but it will do with coffee in the morning. The empanadas are just ok, could be better. If you’re hungry for breakfast, get the egg/bacon/cheese on a bagel(hits the spot each time). For sometime lighter, get the toasted sesame seed bagel with cream cheese. Even better than Dunkin, the bagels… hot and crusty. Great place to sit for a bit, have a coffee and read the paper, meet a friend, or I bring my daughter, nice and relaxing. They have Latino morning tv show. If you want a quick lumch or dinner, order the fish sandwich w/fries and salad, and the hamburger. The iced coffee hits the spot. Have to try iced latte and other drinks. We needed this café in the neighborhood, otherwise I have to walk to Dunkin on 89st.

I came in for a strawberry smoothie. Call it a pregnancy craving for sweet things. It was alright. It was extremely sweet and at the same time cold and relaxing. It was a medley of blended ice, real strawberries, tons of sugar and maybe milk? I think I will come back and try the Chinese pastries or the sausage roll. There is plenty of seating and also tons of tasty hot options to try.

I was really debating about whether or not to give Vanilla Café 3 or 4 stars… I decided on 3 simply because I think they had a bigger selection of stuff and because sometimes customer service is a bit… lacking — with how long you need to wait to order even if the place is kind of empty. The ice coffee here is FANTASTIC. It’s cheap($ 1.75 I think) for a nice-sized cup and it’s delicious and actually ice brewed unlike some places. The baked goods look fresh and I’m pretty sure they do all the baking on the premises. The only baked good I’ve had is a «Milky Bun» think which was interesting and their Colombian cake which is amazingly moist, delicious, not too sweet and really authentic as far as my childhood experiences so… tastes just like the homemade Colombian cake served by practically everyone at the Colombian Independence Festival that takes place annually in Corona Park. Not a bad place overall, could have the potential for so much more though…

CLEAN, NEAT&DELICIOUS! Know you need to pay attention to when you food is ready cause they make little effort to let you know to grab it off the counter but it’s amazing nonetheless! Great spot for the neighborhood and when I’m in it I will hit this place up!

Really nice option in the middle of Jackson Height for a quick bit to eat. They brew very very delicious coffee that are strong & tastefully in their dimensions. They also have an amazing Colombian cake that just falls apart in your hands and in your mouth — so tender and sweet and delicious. All in all, a very diversity and convenient place to get a bite.

I was so surprised to see a Vanilla Café while walking down the street here, that I just had to stop in and order a bubble tea. The staff here is definitely not used to customers ordering this drink, because they did not even know the price and were tripping over themselves trying to remember how to make it. The tea was not all that bad, but you could definitely tell that it was not made by someone with experience. Maybe this is just a place to come for coffee… I almost gave it three stars just because it is the only bubble tea in the area, but then changed my mind.

I’m on the fifth-leg of an outdoor taco crawl in 90-degrees-hot-&-oh-so-humid weather… I pretend to grocery-shop(in an air-conditioned supermarket) while I wait for my friends to finish their meals outdoors. Then we reluctantly moved on(away from the AC!), but we catch glimpses of some signs(Hawaiian Ice, Smoothieessss!). It was an indoor café with AC, we were sold! The Strawberry smoothie they serve here is very good. It’s sweet, creamy, and the ice crystals melt as they flow down your throat. A smoothie of this nature has unnatural powers, and rejuvenating qualities. After I finished my smoothie, I trudged onwards with our taco crawl, and I ate, and I ate, and I… Rejuvenation! Thank you Vanilla Café.

*5th Stop on Jeff O’s 2010 Roosevelt Avenue Food Crawl* The muggy heat ultimately became too much. Sweaty and delirious, we began seeking out places with air conditioning for intermittent respites. Vanilla Café was one such place that ultimately made for a nice stop. They claim to have the best iced coffee in town($ 1.75) and offer a delicious selection of bubble teas and fresh fruit frappes, but I ultimately differed. One clear standout on the menu caught my eye: Ovaltine. I ordered up a small cup($ 1.50) with sugar and was pleased with the result. A taste I had not encountered since early childhood was now before me. This was so delightful. Whimsical and reminiscing was I. Recommend.
