This Elite Event was a lot of fun — as usual! — Coronado Island is beautiful(my first time driving across the bridge — yikes!) — Broadstone Coronado on the Bay was beautiful(although I got a little worried when we drove up — don’t judge until seeing the remodeled interior) — The food was delicious — Lasagna and Ice Cream — Brad and Estefany are wonderful! — Got to meet some old Unilocaler and new Unilocaler friends Anybody notice the poor lonely jellyfish in the tank? My boyfriend gave some friendly advice to the building manager on how to take care of jellyfish. Fingers crossed that the jellyfish lives.

Resort living at beautiful Coronado on the Bay? Yes, please! The clubhouse and countless amenities in this recently remodeled apartment community are pimpin pimpin sweet, from the golf simulator, the fitness center, and even a doggie wash area to bathe your furry little baby. After enjoying some of the evening’s hosted snacks, we roamed the property with Broadstone’s lovely tour guides to check out the digs and see a furnished model apartment. Danimal, where were you? The folks from Blue Bridge Hospitality did a great job of dishing out tasty bites to showcase some of what’s available at Coronado’s many restaurants: –Lasagne from Village Pizzeria –Poke bites from Leroy’s Kitchen+Lounge –Pulled pork sliders from Lil’ Piggy BBQ –Stake tartare from Stake Chophouse & Bar –Ice cream from Moo Time Creamery It is great to see the usual faces, and continuing with a 2015 trend, I am psyched up to meet and greet new friends. Shoutout to Maritess C and congrats on your shiny ’15 badge. So nice to meet you and the hubs. Sup to Cara C. I’ve seen you on Unilocal Talk for the lulz! You’re a real person, not some anonymous throwaway account ;) I also finally got to say hello to our new Unilocal intern extraordinaire, Sandra M. It was hectic at the previous Vin de Syrah Event, but I didn’t forget this time. Don’t worry about any hazing. It’s not a real thing. Thank you to the team at Broadstone for opening the doors and letting us crash one of the coolest house parties on the Bay. Thank you to team Blue Bridge Hospitality for the delicious snacks. Thank you to our awesome photographer, Chris Brake, for the spectacular images and many classy candids. Last but not least, thank you to the dynamic duo, Brad B and Estefany B, for coordinating and organizing another Unilocaltastic Elite Event.

The town of Coronado was founded in 1885. The land was purchased by Elisha Spurr Babcock, along with Hampton L. Story and Jacob Gruendike. Their intention was to create a resort community, and in 1886 the Coronado Beach Company was organized. By 1888 they had built the Hotel del Coronado and the city became a major resort destination. They also built a schoolhouse, and formed athletic, boating, and baseball clubs. Wikipedia Coronado. I use to go fishing every weekend at Shelter Island when I was a small boy. Those endless hours waiting for a fish to bite I stared at the other side of the bay and wondered what it was like over there. I was excited by the notice about the elite event at Broadstone so I could see what it was like in Coronado. There is a cool small town vibe to the neighborhood. A block away kids were playing in an athletic field as day turned to night. The entrance to Broadstone featured a cool fountain with water flowing down stone obelisks. Inside there was a live video feed of the bay arrayed as a triptych. Further in there were paintings and statues. Place seems more like a modern art museum than an apartment building. Inside the recreation room was where I found the snacks for the evening. Delicious pulled pork sliders from Lil Piggy’s. I loved the flavors from the soft Hawaiian sweet bread rolls, the tangy bbq sauce, and the tender pulled pork. I also had a few sundaes from MooTime. The vanilla ice cream was frozen solid as I like it and had a deep rich french vanilla flavor enhanced by the marshmallow cream, Oreo and rainbow toppings. Fully fueled the tour began. In the courtyard past the pool and the spa was a majestic Banyan tree. The years melted away and I was back in Maui. It was summer and I sheltered in the shade of the Banyan tree as the sun beat down around me. It was one of those perfect moments with a Lappert’s
