I was here a few years ago, and I’m surprised of the poor ratings I see, so I decided to write a review as well. The staff here was very accomodating, professional, and courteous. I had the special of the day which was a kobe beef filet with lobster in a lemon-ginger bleur blanc. It was quite delicious. My date requested our table to be set with candles and gardenias, and that was exactly what was waiting for us when we got there. The server wasn’t overbearing, but didn’t ignore us either. So overall, 4 stars for good food and good, accomodating service. For a romantic, splurging dinner on Coronado Island, I would recommend Prince of Wales~

Fancy place not so fancy tasting food. The salad both my husband and I were served tasted like they dumped the whole salt shaker initial(I’m really not exaggerating) it was so bad we had to send them back. The ice tea was horrible, very bitter. The filet with beet au jus was decent but not worth the high prices. Won’t return.

I had great time here, yes the food is over priced but you should know that going. You can’t beat the locations and the food is good, it’s even better when it’s on an expense account. It’s one of the few places in San Diego where you can get a Kobe Steak. You’re not going to get a double double here.

Alas. I think this super fancy, upper echelon, tourist attraction no longer is in business. I actually ate here a couple years ago and can still remember the sweet taste of the best crème brûlée that has ever graced my lips. *drool* From what I remember, the food was pretty good and we had not one, but two waiters. That’s some service there. I just wished one of them cut my steak for me for the price I paid… That crème brûlée was going to be my last meal on earth. But I guess I’ll just die without a whimper or dessert now.

Chi Chi restaurant in the Del Coronado hotel. My mother and I realized they’re trying very hard to be a five star location, but not quite there just yet. Amazing dishes, such as the usual chi chi soup presentation where you get a bowl with garnish and the server pours the soup in with a miniature jar. The food tasted quite well, but was spectacularly overpriced. It looks like most diners are there to see and be seen, versus enjoying their party’s company and conversation — which seems at odds with the peaceful resort we’re in! I would go again if I’m in the area and up for a dressy dinner, though I can think of quite a few other locations I’d rather go to first in the convention center and gaslamp areas.

ALLYOURREVIEWSPUTITOUTOFBUSINESS :). The Price of Wales has gone and so has the restaurant by that name. The cottage where he courted his Coronado divorcee Wallis Spencer Simpson which caused him to abdicate as King Edward VIII, is a popular wedding place and separates the hotel and front lawn from the“New Beach Village”.

Another reason to find a local to give you tips… Outrageous prices for mediocre food.

What can you say about eating in a giant tourist trap? This place was fancy-schmancy I’m sure during the early 1900’s but now it’s just a tourist ripoff. The food is decent and servers don’t care about you unless it seems you’ll throw down a fatty tip. Look but don’t touch.

The most expensive restaurant in the Hotel del Coronado is also its biggest ripoff. The food and service are mediocre, but you get to pay top dollar.
