Dos Comales

My friend, her husband and I came here on a beautiful day in hopes of good food and drinks because my friend had previously been here and had good things to say. Unfortunately that didn’t happen – they came at night so maybe there’s a difference. the waitress was so lackluster in service that a sock would have done a better job. We had ordered drinks which took forever to get and were watery from sitting at the bar. The waitress took forever to get our order and seemed to be way out of it. Not sure if it was these horrible allergies we all have or something else but she was super checked out. Oh and she coughed on my friend’s food! So gross! When we got our food and drinks she asked us how everything was. I told her about my Margarita water and she replied, ‘oh yeah it does look really bad’. Didn’t offer a fresh one or anything. She then asked how everything else was 2 more times out of obligation… not that she actually gave a crap. On the other hand my shrimp tacos were tasty and the beans were super delicious. Please please please hire some staff who actually cares about their job enough to it well and not cough on food!!! I don’t know if I’ll come back after this but it’s definitely not on my top choices

Worst food ever, service is not much better.
Server got the drinks fifteen minutes after ordering, appetizer never came and got a sorry! Order charro beans, got canned refried beans. The manager had an attitude and tried to tell me they were fresh. Are you kidding me, your telling a born and raised south Texas Hispanic that the beans are fresh and not canned! Tortilla on plate wet, dos pollo soup was only veggies, no chicken. Ordered flour tortillas, never came. Manager said well you already tasted the food so you have to pay. Wow! Avoid this place like the plague. As I was finishing my conversation with the manager, another customer was waiting to make a complaint about an unauthorized tip on her bill. This place has really gone down hill. I’m a fat guy, and easy to please, but this was disgusting.

The food and service were perfection. We loved the red and green salsas they provided. The food was outstanding. Our server was attentive without hovering. We highly recommend this place.

I meant to post a review last time I came but ended up forgetting as I left SO fat AND happy! But After another amazing experience I was not going to forget this time! Service, food & drinks are definitely worth coming back for! Corpus Christi favorite for me and my family!

Delish! Happened upon this place when executive club was too packed. Greeted right away, and our waitress Annette, was wonderful.

Great salsa! Annnd… thats it. Son had fajita beef nachos. Terrible. Everything fell off his chips into a gelatanious pile of goo. I had the mimis tacos… chicken fajita. Low quality chicken as almost every bite was a mouthful of grisel. Nasty. And the guacamole? How in the heck do you screw that up… uh hello mexican restaraunt… not too sure after eating this crap pile. Do yourself a favor… eat at the Omni or anywhere. just not here.

Awful. The service was terrible. They weren’t even busy. We felt like a burden. The only reason o still had water was because my ice had melted due to them not coming by. The food was okay but not worth the price.

Just returned here today after not having been in several years. I must say my husband and I were not pleased. We waited several minutes before anyone acknowledged us to seat us. They were not that busy. one or two tables at the time. The queso was grainey as if it had not been melted properly. I ordered chicken tacos. The chicken was smothered in some sort of thick red sauce. not what I’m used to. My husband ordered chicken fajita tacos n hardly ate a bite. He said they had no flavor and he didn’t like them. Usually my husband likes his food a tad on the bland side so it was a big deal for him to complain about too little flavor. The tea with lime tasted like water with lime. I was also not impressed with the beans and rice. Not much flavor in those either. Having said all that, we will not be returning.

The restaurant was a bigger hype than what it actually was. I went here for a party for my girlfriend’s friend. There was about 20 people in our party. And only one server. The food took forever and the waiter kept forgetting about us. But I can’t really blame him for dealing with such a large table.
I got the «Plato Reyna». It was alright. The chicken quesadillas were some of the best ones I’ve ever had. They had the perfect spice and were as soft as my ass (which is pretty soft). The quest dip was alright. It tasted like they just poured a jar of Tostito’s queso that was served lukewarm. The fajita taco was pretty bland. The actual fajitas were kind of tough and didn’t have a strong flavor. The flavor that it had though, was good.
The mariachis were actually enjoyable over here and the atmosphere was nice. Very clean from what I observed. I’d come back maybe in a year or two. It’s not a prioritized restaurant of mine.

Average food, terrible service. Great looking place and would probably be a great place to have a few drinks.

Pretty good. Good chips and dip. Fajitas were average. Service was good. And shrimp wasn’t tailed. Parking is horrible.

Tortillas were fresh and seemed home made. Bahia shrimp was good– it came out steaming. As described there was a lot of breading on the shrimp and the sauce kind of reminded me of marinara but still not bad. Salsa and chips were great. Our server was nice. For some reason the owner doesn’t give out the password the the wifi that says «Dos Comales Guest» as the title, oh well. I’d come back to try other menu items.

we were greeted by the manager which was unusual??? she’s very petite and soft spoken but very kind and attentive, she mentioned a live band outside and asked if we would like to sit outside, but I requested the bar. My friend Amber and I sat at the bar, the manager bought the first round of drinks, which by then I started to feel like royalty and wondered where’s my red carpet?
The food was very tasty, the bartenders were extremely friendly we were talking about the tattoos we each had and how beautiful they were, the overall vibe I got was comfortable and relaxed, friendly, and later we went outside to listen to the band which played great Latin music, I would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone looking for good Mexican food, good music, relaxed atmosphere

I was hesitant at first because of the other reviews but I must say that I had a good experience here. Ordered food and drank some drinks with some friends and we were there quite a while with no problems as far as service or food. Out waitress Susan was a young lady and she was awesome, made sure we had what we needed and brought out our drinks in a timely manner. All in all I will come back and eat the same plate I had the fried avocado and some drinks…

Came here for an early dinner with a group of eight. Our waitress worked very hard and was very friendly and polite. The restaurant was not very clean, but it was busy. The cheese dip was gritty, like it was powdered and not mixed correctly. I had the steamed fish and shrimp, and it came in tinfoil that was like a pouch. It was good, but not terrific. After we had eaten, the table clearer came to the table and held his tub out, and asked us all to place our own dishes and glasses and trash into it. It was awkward and a mess, we all got food on our hands. Won’t go back again.

I left Dos Comales feeling the theme of Hit or Miss. I went in a group and even though our waitress was attentive, there seemed to be trouble and confusion in the kitchen. Firstly, all soft drinks tasted disgusting. Secondly, many of our orders were incorrect. And some food was cold. However, a few plates were delicious. This restaurant has potential to be a great place to eat.

Poor service, poor quality, and high prices round out this lackluster establishment. There are far better offerings in the area.
The shrimp cocktail was essentially a bowl of ketchup — not cocktail sauce — with shrimp floating in it. It was absolutely disgusting and nothing like a traditional shrimp cocktail, Mexican or American style.
Mimi’s Tacos were bland, with seemingly flavorless meat, completely unseasoned. The seafood enchiladas had shells in EVERY bite. Their so-​called «tarasco sauce» is pure Alfredo sauce like you’d get with fettuccine in a national-​chain Italian restaurant. Sorry, but Alfredo sauce has no place in a Mexican restaurant and it is certainly not a substitute for real tarasco sauce. Even for Alfredo sauce, it was pretty gross.
The service was awful. Soft drinks were not refilled promptly and were expensive ($ 3 each). We switched drinks mid-​meal after trying the disgusting iced tea. We were charged for the replacement drinks and the original (four non-​alcoholic drinks for two people = $ 12). The server was surly and unresponsive. She vanished for long periods of time and was indifferent when we told her how bad the food was, seemingly well-​aware of the train wreck that Dos Comales is. No resolution was offered.
The food here is inauthentic, the service is poor, the quality is poor, and the prices are too high. Avoid this place and choose any other restaurant in the area. Corpus Christi has plenty of great Mexican food that’s excellent and costs about ¼ of the cost of this awful place. This is not Mexican food. This is not Tex-​Mex. This place is just simply awful and that’s all that can be said.

Standard Tex Mex fare for the tourist beach crowd. This place would also be great for a large party of work function as seating is abundant. The food was filling and enormous but not spectacular. It does the job. A word of advice though, do not try and be sketchy and park there to go somewhere else as the lot is monitored very heavily.

Nice atmosphere salsa is good the flour tortilla chips are great. Strong drinks waitress was super friendly and she kept the drinks coming. I order the chicken stuffed avacodo was great not california style mexican food but it is good food.
