J.P. Bombers

Wow, I’m not even sure where to start, maybe with the frozen, overcooked hamburger patty’s, the awful BBQ sauce, the «atomic» burger that had pickled jalapeños with no heat at all, or the packets of mayonnaise. $ 60 for a family of 4 and you can’t buy real mayonnaise. If your going to come off like a boutique burger joint then you shouldn’t serve frozen Costco burgers that taste like hockey pucks. Service was fine but we overheard a cook yelling at another guy in the back to quit showing up drunk. Visiting from San Antonio and definitely will not be back.

In a city practically jammed-​packed with burger places, I think this place has, at least, the potential to be great. I’ve gone a couple of times now, each time ordering something a bit different. These guys can make a burger… When they feel like it. I ordered my food, a cheesy bomb-​burger; a double cheeseburger packed between two grilled cheese. This of course came with fries and a drink. The meat was ok, but the patties were thin. The grilled cheese had all of the grill, but skipped out on most of the cheese. But the real kicker was the tiny amount of fries I got. I believe I counted about 8. My previous experiences were ok, but the one constant has been the fries. I recommend giving this’ll place a try, but hold the staff accountable… especially if you place a to go order.

I am giving this place 2 stars, but the only thing even getting it there was our service. Our waitress, Alicia was great. Very accommodating, as i, having a lactose intolerance had modified my burger worth no cheese and no bun, and had asked for a small side salad instead of fries or tots.
As my ticket hit the kitchen, you immediately hear the cook complaining of the modifications as well as now, the restaurant had gained another 8 – 12 customers and you could hear his comments from the window as to how he wasn’t excited they were getting busier. (and that’s my nice way of putting it.)
Our food had arrived, everything correct, except for my burger, covered in cheese. I was going to just scrape it off after i felt i had already disturbed the cook but Alicia insisted, so i let them remake the burger.
Moments later, my burger comes out, i thank her and get eating…
To my surprise, i flip the patty over, and the chef has re used the same patty and charred the cheese off of the one side, put ot in the plate, UPSIDE DOWN so i wouldn’t notice and covered it with the toppings!
Where on earth is this acceptable!!! I have been a Chef for 10 years, and if a guest tells you they are ALLERGIC to cheese and you F@#$ up, you REMAKE the burger!!! I am simply appalled!
I will never be back. I did however, as an angry guest, still tip my server the accustomed 20%+ because she was great, and you shouldn’t penalize your server for a terrible cooks judgement and attitude. People like him give hole-​in-​the-​wall joints a bad name and shouldn’t be allowed to be on a line.

Not much on looks but scores big points on taste… The place has a big mom and pop decore to it. It serves big portions. Ill be back.

I didn’t try the food… I had a car load of family grandparents and kids… They did not want to enter. It looked too much like a Biker bar… And it was next to a bar… Lol. I was willing to try it… Couldn’t get them to change their minds.

If you are hungry for a delicious burger look no further! Had a shroom & atomic burgers with jalapeño bombers. All were excellent. Service was great!

Great food for sure! Dining area is small but for the quality of food it’s worth it.
My burger was hot and cooked perfect. The fries were crisp on the outside just the way I like them.
Waitstaff were on the ball keeping my drink full and cashing me out in a reasonable time.
I recommend this place!

Really good burgers. But no selection of cheeses. Just American. Only burgers. The salad is nothing special. Really pricey and in a very odd location. Still pretty good bar food. Everything is also home made. Over all pretty good if you have take out. I would recommend the bomber. With hot cheese sauce on top.

Obviously, the Ritz it’s not. But if I want a proverbial «heart attack on a plate» burger topped, smothered, and dressed any way I dream up (last time it was a fried egg over-​easy, and served with a huge side of Tater Tots in a completely non-​pretentious environment and a gallon of soda that never gets more than an inch below full thanks to casual, down-​home style hospitality, I can’t think of a better place in Corpus Christi than J.P. Bombers!
I’m glad my 40+ years on this planet have taught me not to judge a book by its cover. Otherwise, I may never have overcome my initial skepticism and visited J.P. Bombers to experience the GI-​NORMOUS premium «boutique burgers» and crispy fried sides that leave me in a euphoric food coma afterwards (followed closely by the less glamorous meat sweats and eventually by the grunting and straining to zip my clothing). Needless to say, there is nothing low-​cal on the menu and this isn’t an every week kind of place unless you want to weigh 2 metric tons.
The winning recipe here is starting with basic premium ingredients: lovely bun options, prime beef executed perfectly to order, and quality toppings and sides. After that, you just can’t go wrong. I love a medium rare execution served open-​faced with sauteed shrooms, ample cheese, and an over-​easy egg. Even if your Cotillion Tea allowed you to «tuck in», there simply no way to eat this burger with one’s hands– fork and knife are mandatory. Another option I adore is sweet Hawaiian bun with avocado, a heaping helping of chopped streaky bacon, gooey, melted pepper jack, and basil pesto mayo. Even for items not on the printed menu (egg), JP’s was willing to accommodate with a smile– just ask for your favorites.
The wait staff at this location are so charming. Both servers I’ve experienced were attentive, warm, competent (my glass never even became half empty and they sent me home with a full cup and lid of my soft drink) and remind me of the type of person you would expect to see in a movie featuring a small town diner– a waitress calling you «honey» and serving up extra helpings and a kind word.

The outer appearance of JP Bombers does look a little questionable, however, the dining experience is pleasurable. You seat yourself upon entering the restaurant and the wait-​staff is quite friendly. I recently ordered their shroom-​burger with tator tots. Although the bun was a little too greasy for my liking, it was quite delicious; the tator tots weren’t anything too extraordinary but fried well.
Definitely a «hole-​in-​the-​wall» joint, but with friendly service and great food.

Ohk, at first glance, this place looks like a shack.
But let me tell you, the burgers are THE BOMB, pun intended.
I got some burger with avocado in it and it was actually really good.
There was nothing too fancy but it was a classic burger with the condiments and the vegetables off to the side to your liking.
The waitress and the people there were so nice as well, which made the experience that much better.
Overall, I think everyone should check out this place if they want great burgers for the price.
It’s a diamond in the rough, but it gets a plus from me.

Unilocal and the great reviews brought my family here, I must say the Big daddy burger and atomic burger are so delicious! The kids had mozzarella sticks and tots and they just loved them.
The service here is amazing so attentive and courteous! You don’t leave without getting a refill to go .

I’m visiting Corpus Christi for work… It is always good to try new places. I went with someone from my office as they had never been. Let’s just say that they will probably be in weekly now.
This place was absolutely delicious and the service was good and very quick. We ordered the jalapeños poppers. They were filled with goodness… cheese, jalapeños and bacon. They were served with ranch which added to the delicious flavor.
We both ordered the atomic burger. Note: All burgers come with Lettuce, tomato, pickles and tots or fries. The atomic burger is absolutely delicious!!! It had cheese, chopped bacon, jalapeños, sautéed onions and a sweet toasted bun.
This place does not serve alcohol but please note that they do partner with the bar next door so you can byob or if you’re having a wild evening at the bar and need to sober up you can order and they will bring it over.

This place is amazing. It’s a small, simple, and plain little building slightly off the beaten path but it makes up for it’s mild simplicity with some amazing artery clogging deliciousness.
We started with the jalapeño bombers and dear god… they were so amazing. Fried to perfection, cheesy, bacony, chicken… Just awesome. I had the open faced chili dog. The hot dog was huge and the toasted bun had this subtle sweetness that just brings happiness to your tongue accompanied with the chili and cheese. He had the atomic burger and I had a couple bites and it was literally the best burger I’ve ever bitten into.
We’re from Houston and are just visiting Corpus for the weekend and we enjoyed the food so much we plan on going back there tomorrow for a meal before hitting the road.
This isn’t a fancy place but if you have a craving for something tasty and satisfying and not healthy, then definitely check this place out!

I am so upset right now that we do not have this place in San Antonio. Easily one of my top dining experiences.
We had the jalapeño bombers to start and they were unexpectedly one of the most delicious things I’ve ever ordered at a restaurant. I mean, once you’ve had one jalapeño popper you’ve had them all, right? Not the case at all here. My mouth is watering just thinking about them.
I ordered the mini SOB. I may not have read the description very well and thought I was getting something that was actually mini. I was not. It was huge. The patties were great. I loved the buns! I got the tots with chili and cheese. My husband ordered the fries with his, he wasn’t a fan.
We all agreed that this was the best place we could have chosen to eat at in Corpus.

This place wants the general public to die a beautifully appetizing death. I swear this is the classic burger spot but with more cheese and bacon and then served with a coke. It is like a bomber dropped viciously gluttonous goodness into your belly.
Few places have the whole thing done well. From the burger patty to the dressings and the bread. The bread is where most places screw up but not here! I got the jalapeño bombers, a double cheeseburger with the bacon bits, and the fries. OMG, OMG, the jalapeño bombers were awesome. I usually bite a piece off and then fill it with ranch for maximum body damage to myself.
It’s a hole in the wall so when you look for it expect nothing glitzy on the outside. If you have been around long enough you know that the hole’s in the wall are the best places.
Serious talk… beautiful death, bomber dropped gluttonous goodness.

You will Pass the building… but you will turn around.
Cold sweet tea with the tiny crushed ice, homemade jalapeño bombers with Chicken and BACON (we’re amazing!) and that thin ranch dressing that coats without the thick after taste.
Then the burgers came… OMG
My bun was grilled and sweet… the top crispy and the bottom, thick and soft. I had the shroom burger btw.
Did I mention, Crispy light Coated onion rings?
The waitress was welcoming, crazy Fast and will yell the orders for appetizers back… so that they get to your table before you order the entrée.
This is quick service, NOT even close to pretentious and oh… so good.
Casual, fast service, constant drink refills… and a place where you can talk to each other. A find…

I will be returning here and recommending this place to anyone who asks. JP Bombers definitely has one of the best burgers and batters in Corpus. The jalapeño cheese bombers (stuffed with crispy bacon and chicken) were the BEST I’ve ever had. The fried mushrooms came out scaldingly fresh and delicious. Fresh cheesy mozzarella sticks with homemade marinara was also delicious. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fries, it was amazing. I got to try the burger with two grilled cheese sandwiches as buns, it was crazy and I loved it. The buffalo chicken burger was also amazing and the tater tots are crispy!!!
The service was also great! We had everything we needed, napkins, refills and condiments. Great place, looking forward to introducing others and going back!

Wow. This place was a nice surprise. Burgers were HUGE and amazing. I could only finish half — which is not like me! My husband got the cheesy bomb burger which has grilled cheese sandwiches instead of buns — and he polished off the whole thing. He’s a little dizzy now, but smiling.
I should probably eat salads the rest of the week to offset this meal.
