We have booked our wedding at Chocolate Turtle and we are looking forward to it. Denise has been so easy to work with and it speaks volumes for the type of event we are planning.

The Chocolate Turtle is by far the best B&B we have ever stayed in. There are no «Mehs» there are no «Ughs». We’re all about the«WOWS» here. First, the hosts: Dallas and Nancy could and should write the book on how to run a successful and adulation-worthy B&B. Friendly, helpful, cultured and completely discreet about not pushing anything on you. Truly genuine people without a single fake bone in them. Unlike many other B&B’s that are constantly trying to impress you with their listing in ‘this registry and that” the Renner’s quietly go about running the best B&B in the world. They are so accommodating that they added a whole new course of veggies and fruits to their already excellent breakfast to make us happy. Secondly, location: Corrales is about 20 minutes from downtown Albuquerque but feels like it could be somewhere in Santa Fe. The small winding roads snake between sandy hills and adobe houses and you will often see riders keeping pace with you on the horse trail paralleling the street. The horse trail makes a great running path as well. Just watch out for the rather large, steaming gifts left everywhere by our Equine friends. The Inn itself is located about halfway up a large hill and the back porch looks out on the gorgeous Sandia mountains that put up a fantastic color display everyday at sunrise and sunset. The back garden is a desert paradise and the playground of Road Runners, Jack Rabbits, Quail and various other fauna I could not identify. One day we even got to see a pair of hawks hunting and sharing a quail. Thirdly, food: As mentioned above, the breakfast menu is local, innovative and delicious. In the spring you are served out on the beautiful patio where you can watch the rabbits and road runners frolic among the lavender bushes. We loved our stay so much that on our way back from the Taos and Santa Fe, we decided to spend one more night at the ‘Turtle.

We love the Chocolate Turtle! This was our last stop during a July 2008 New Mexico trip, and our favorite. The innkeepers are friendly, the property is immaculately maintained, and the location is superb. We lodged in the Sandia Room, which features its own small private patio. Be certain to spend time in the back yard, though, as it is a delightful space with beautiful views. We enthusiastically recommend the Chocolate Turtle and hope to have the opportunity to stay here again.
