This place was on the way home from lunch. We decided to check it out on Father’s Day and they were open! It is very cool to see what can be done out of someone’s house. It’s also great to see how passionate the winemaker(Chris?) is about making wine! That’s what every winery needs! The wines: pretty good. We really enjoyed and purchased the Cabernet. The prices are fantastic!

My friends Chris & Martha Carpenter own and run the winery and tasting room. I’ve been fortunate to taste their first 3 bottlings 4 years ago and every year since. Last year I also got to help them bottle their Spanish Dancer Syrah, and in the fall I was able to help pick grapes at all the local Corrales vineyards on 3 or 4 occasions. Their Valentines Wine & Food Pairing is the BEST! They also participate in the Corrales Bike & Wine Event in April and October. Def. check them out!

I created this business page nearly one year back. One year later, I’m the first to review it. I’m gettin’ so jiggy in anticipation, I’m squirming. Me, me, me! Okay, I’ll shut up. There isn’t a lot to report, honestly. Yet another random home in the outback of Corrales, yellow sands and turkey vultures hovering the landscape, Pasando Tiempo is a little oasis of suburbia. As I pulled up on my trusty bicycle, a fellow cyclist said«I recommend the syrah.» Dude was on point. I tasted all of the varietals and the syrah nailed the European variety: simple, nuanced but certainly not heavy, meant to accompany lamb or spinach salad, friendly. It was a welcome change of pace from the American or Australian versions, and it made sense. Most of the grapes in New Mexico are sourced in the burning fields of Deming, not a lot of fruit in these pours. I thought every varietal measured up, nothing spanked the competition, they were tasty. And the place was cute. They had a tasting room and something of a converted garage where barrels sat awaiting consumption. Family owned, the conversation between tastings was very down to earth. They had a smallish back yard to sip to your heart’s content. Overall, a nice place to unwin(e)d and a welcome addition to the growing wineries of this lovely little town on the outskirts of Albuquerque.
