Barshack Scott MD

Dr Barshack was recommended to me by the previous head of Marin General Hospital and graciously agreed to see me almost immediately despite his fully booked and in demand schedule. I had become desperate with post partum depression going on over two years and was having every area of my life implode including a great job at one of the best companies in the world to work for, my family and friendships. Dr. Barshack is one of and if not the best medication management psychiatrists nationwide and I’m grateful he is able to help me and my family finally have a life again.
I hope other reviews were well thought out and not posted by a scared and anxious parent just trying to do best by their child in need. Dr Barshack is not a therapist and his specialty is pharmacology/​med management. Although it’s not my choice to use illegal substances or others not prescribed by my doctor, I’ve seen enough good doctors to understand that they will share the truth with the patient and any research done on the topic including any pros and cons. There are very good reasons for patient confidentiality and I hope one negative review from a parent of a teen who doesn’t follow doctor’s orders doesn’t reflect negatively on such a good professional who saves lives daily.

Absolutely do not ever entrust your teen to this guy. Triangulates with parents and told me son he could drink as much alcohol as he wanted or smoke as much pot as he wanted — along with a prescribed anti-​depressant Lexapro for anxiety — with no ill effects.
