Unfortunately, our dinner at Central City was far from pleasing. We ordered calamari as an appetizer and received a bland, tasteless, and rubbery platter of it. For dinner, my arugula wrap was disappointing, and I mean to the point where I just couldn’t eat it. The «avacado» inside, which was NOT avacado, was thick, firm slices of tasteless texture. Avacado is supposed to be soft and easily mushed, not frozen in strange diced formation. The chips were equally disappointing. Not a pleasant crunch, and the overwhelming spices on top left a bad taste in the mouth.
The service was okay. I didn’t enjoy hearing the waitresses loudly gossip by the kitchen, though.
It’s a shame because some of our friends love Central City. As for us, this experience leads me to believe that we won’t be back.

Had an open face Ruben that was amazing. My buddy had the chicken pot pie came out homemade in a huge pasta bowl and didn’t lack flavor. Salads are huge and fresh. Great beer selection. Friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Nice little find off of Main Street in downtown Cortland. Seems like a typical pub with just bar food but menu had a really nice variety on it. Great beer on tap as well. Sweet potato is awesome.
One suggestion. For your veggie burger option, don’t use morning star brand. If you don’t want to make your own house made veggie burger (which you should consider) use another brand. Morning Star brand veggie burgers are disgusting. It taste like mashed cornmeal slop with a few grinded up veggies in it. There is a ton of better options out there.

Simply stated, this place got me through most of grad school. A perfect hangout spot if you aren’t into the typical Cortland bar scene. The staff have always been really good to me and always make sure Penguins games are on the TV when I’m there.
Lots of different beers on draft, their pasta and wing nights are great, and I really appreciate that they have good vegetarian options. Most people don’t realize they have a deck attached to the back of the restaurant, which makes it a great spot for happy hour.

Been here many times for lunch so thought we would try dinner. Wed night so not too busy. Still, slow service, disinterested waitress and mediocre meal for the price. Never heard the specials, would have ordered a second round of drinks… Long wait for the check… Sorry. Has been a good place up until now.

Everything from the service to the food was awesome!!! I went there with the family (2 adults & 2 kids, 9&10yrs old) and everyone enjoyed their meals and us grown folks enjoyed our drinks. FYI DANA’s sangria is CRACK!!! And the desert was amazing!!! Home made apple pie and vanilla ice cream. If you’re ever the area you have swing by!!!

This place is the hidden gem of cortland NY. The atmosphere was fantastic. The food was incredible and the wait staff was amazing. I was very pleased with everything and everyone was extremely nice. We ordered the nachos and they were absolutely amazing. I highly recommend Central City Bar and Grill.

BEST.BURGERS.EVER
There is a great menu. There are also vegitarian options. The optimal amount of people to go with is about 5 to 8. Normally, with large parties, it can take more than an hour for the food to come out.

There are not a lot of great dining options in the downtown Cortland area, and we went here as an emergency Plan B after our intended restaurant was randomly closed for the week. We went in pretty much blind after only a cursory check of the Unilocal reviews to look for anything scary.
It’s pretty much typical bar-quality food, with some great additions like a Friday fish fry and the «tower of fries» which is just what it sounds like, and enough fries for about 4 people. The service was fast and friendly, and they have a lot of good beers on tap including local things like Cortland (duh), Hopshire, and Bacchus.
They do turn tables pretty quickly in here, especially when it gets busy and there are people waiting. Do expect them to move you along once you’re done eating. Good for people waiting, but don’t expect to have a leisurely 2-hour table occupation.

Great food. Recommended by staff at Hope Lake Lodge and was quite content with the choice. My tilapia was a little bland though, should’ve went with the Friday night special (which was a huge fish and chips dish for half the price of my entrée)
I would definitely come here again if I’m ever in the area.
