We were looking for something fun to do outside in October when we stumbled upon Lime Hollow Nature Center. The visitor center isn’t much, but they seem to have a lot of programs for kids and families. The day we were visiting they had a pumpkin carving program and it looked really fun. The lady inside was super friendly, we chatted for a few minutes, grabbed a map, and we were off! The paths are labeled really well and are very clear as you are walking. There is also all sorts of really cool art all over the place. This really made the walk enjoyable, looking for fun art pieces(like the smiling tree face). There is also a good amount of wildlife around if you are wanting a nature hike. We also explored a little camping area that they must use for classes. They had built a little hut out of sticks, which my 2 year old loved. It was the perfect place to let her run off some energy and go for a really nice walk.

Just spent an enjoyable Sunday morning snowshoeing at Lime Hollow. We’d never done it before and rented snowshoes at the Visitor Center. The two young men working there were extremely pleasant and very helpful to us «rookies.» Free map, trails are well marked and maintained, traversing hardwood stands, conifer stands, even an old railroad bed! Nothing not to like: cross-country skis can be rented. Some trails are cross-country skiing only, others can be hiked and snowshoed. Rentals are reasonable, no trail fees, donations welcome.
