As it is in most places run by volunteers, it’s hit and miss with who you deal with. Try and look poor when you go there, because all but one of them alter their prices depending on whether or not you look rich. I pulled a shit, bent wheel out of a pile of other wheels. Straightened it and offered to donate another wheel with new tube and tyre. This women looked me up and down. And said«$ 20. I’ll give you 5 bucks off for your wheel«. “I got the tyre and tube from you yesterday, it cost $ 10. I dont think this wheel is worth that much?» «i’ll look it up on ebay, yup they are going for $ 20» «those are new ones… with new tires?! «$ 20». I had just spent an hour and half truing it, so i gave her $ 20. «I thought YOU where going to give us that wheel?» «I thought this was worth 5 bucks» For a community based non-profit there to serve the community, they really like to pick and chose who they help.
