Atomic Tan

They are now closed… I was in there on Wednesday tanning as usual, no mention of them closing, on Friday I went to tan and they were closed… lame. A heads up on Wed, that I shouldn’t waste my time rushing to get a tan in before a date on Fri would have been nice. Electric Beach is better anyway, go there.

I’ve been tanning at this salon off and on for several years. They sold me a tanning package on Monday (as in 4 days ago). When I went to tan today, I was met with a sign on the door that said «Atomic Tan is Out of Business»
A crew was inside gutting the place. A guy came out and handed me a business card for Newport Tan and said that they would be honoring our packages. I drove over to Newport Tan and they were quite agitated, as were the irate Atomic Tan customers in their lobby. Newport Tan has absolutely NOTHING to do with Atomic Tan and they aren’t honoring anything Atomic sold to anybody.
There’s no way they didn’t know 4 days ago that they were going out of business when they sold me that package and cheerfully took my money. It appears that they have other locations. BEWARE of buying packages from these people if the other locations are still in business.

Alright. I started going to Atomic Tan because they do have some specials that run that are totally worth buying… but those are hit or miss & they are written on a white board inside… they change often!
I’m not sure who owns it or runs it, but whenever I would go in and there was some guy (who I think is the main owner or something) would really really bug me to buy a bunch of extra stuff. which ya, I get it, you need to make money, but when I have been coming here everyday for the past 3 months, I don’t think I’ll be buying anything different & if so, I’ll tell you… you know?
Aside from that guy, everyone else that works there seems to be really nice… the beds are alright, I don’t think they have changed the bulbs in awhile, I was doing the regular beds so I’m not too sure about their high end beds.
I pretty much have stopped going there simply because I was sick of being hounded to buy more tanning stuff from that guy. Hopefully he will read this and learn that he is scaring away customers because he was just too pushy!

Still searching for a tanning place that realizes there is a recession and it is NOT okay to charge $ 25 for 12 minutes of fake sun, I came back to my old fave Atomic Tan. The purple guy is gone now. The last time I was there was 2002, the girl checked for me. I don’t think the beds have been upgraded since then either. They did have a 10 sessions for $ 110 in the high end beds, so I plonked down the money and went in to get toasty warm. My bed was pretty worn, but the bulbs seemed hot. There were a lot of smears every where which made me think it hadn’t been cleaned real well. Kind of a letdown. But the girl at the front was very sweet.
