Food is great, we had the breakfast with fresh eggs and fresh bread, awesome. I could not believe the prices compare to chain places. Good job!

Im so sad :(I came here on my lunch break and I was excited to get a sandwich because the Reviews were so «great» and I was so disappointed. It tasted like my little niece made me a quick ham sandwich and I paid 12 bucks for this. Definitely wouldn’t recommend this place for lunch.

5 stars for the food. Delicious cakes and pastries, but it doesn’t make up for the crappy service I received. The employee taking my order looked like she was dying of boredom and when I came up to the counter and started ordering it was very clear that she wanted to be anywhere but here. I was trying to ask about certain pastries but her attitude was so cold and insulting I just picked by what looked good. Which was a shame because I’m sure I missed out on other good pastries. I would say I want to come back again to try the rest of the pastries and cakes but I am very hesitant. Will I get the same bad service again? And even if not the parking is absolutely horrific. I understand that in places like LA but Costa Mesa is empty. The fact is the parking lot for the area is way too small. And now they cut even more spaces with the valet. I may be back. But only in the middle of the week and not during the lunch hours(that’s when I went this last time).

THISPLACEISSOHAWT! The food is phat! The employees are super attractive. The turkey is so lean. The tomatoes were fresh. The cheese comes straight from the goat. The juices flow fluidly from the BLAT. Avocado is not scarce. The bacon is so crisp – I swear it was shipped from the sun. All I can say is: wow. Great environment for pal hangz. The temperature is super hip. The bathroom meets the needs of both genders. Go Black Market Bakery.

My friends took us here for breakfast last weekend on account of the high ratings and we happened to be in the neighborhood. Parking was relatively easy early in the AM. This is primarily a bakery with a lot of yummy looking sweet stuff on display with a few tables in the corner for those who want to eat there. We ordered #1, 2 and #3 listed as the«eggy wiches’(essentially eggs with cheese, ham/sausage/bacon on brioche buns) on the Breakfast Menu listed on the board overhead. Service was prompted. While the sandwiches were flavorful and fresh, they were not impressively outstanding. We will have to come back and try their sweet bakery specialties which seem to be their forte.

This is one of my favorite breakfast spots. Everyone I recommend to go there always thanks me. They have one of the best breakfast sandwiches on earth. The atmosphere, that bakery smell, the music, everything about this place is wonderful. Two thumbs up to the person who created this establishment and the kind staff who make it what it is. I love playing chess and eating my breakfast. Thank you black market bakery.

This review is strictly based off their sandwiches. I don’t remember the name of the sandwich I got because it was a special, but it was absolutely delicious! Similar to the Hot Mess I suppose, it was a grilled ham and cheese with jalapeños on sourdough. So simple yet so good! My bf had the Members Only and it was pretty good, but not as good as mine. I beat him this time ;) ha The service is good. I’ll be back again for sure… probably to try some desserts as well

The reviews for this place had such high remarks that I had it bookmarked forever(well at least it felt that way). I finally made my way to the Camp for brunch with a good friend of mine and was very excited entering BMB with high hopes. The aroma of this place is very enticing and you can bet your senses that the baked goods are as good as it smells. This place is very quaint and cute but tiny. In addition to their bakery and drinks, they sell a variety of items from paper straws to baked goods. Many of their items are very cute and local which is refreshing. The menu is very short and simple and the line can get long quickly. My friend and I placed our orders and went looking for seating. Unfortunately seating here is limited and patrons do sit and chat for awhile… we found seating… by the bathroom(yuck). Our meal took a very long time to make… considering all I ordered was an egg and cheese sandwich. It took so long, we had to go back to the counter to make sure that our orders didn’t get lost. By the time our meal arrived, it was just«meh» and I found it very unoriginal and quite boring in flavor and it was disappointing because I really thought it was going to be very tasteful. After reading a few reviews, I realized, I should have ordered the pastries instead… so maybe next time, I will just order that!

Came upon the bakery by sheer accident. Cute shop with quite a few dessert choices. Personally, I was hoping to find a baked treat that didn’t contain butter to share with my hubby. Alas, it was not to be had so I went ahead and picked up a couple of scones and a cinnamon roll to sample. I arrived at the bakery in the early evening. The chocolate raspberry scone was a tad dry, as though it had been baked earlier in the day. Also sampled a lemon, almond, lavender scone which was also a little dry and I couldn’t detect the lavender influence. The cinnamon roll itself was good, although the icing was a bit thick. Maybe if it had been heated, it would have blended in to the roll. Parking in the area is really challenging as the area is densely populated with multiple stores and restaurants.

Everyone must have been out of town because parking was plentiful at the CAMP, but then again we got there at 3, so maybe that’s the trick. Anyway, last year I came here with my cousin to find that they had an awesome chocolate selection and that they carried Raaka chocolate, which is why I returned. Raaka is available closer to me now, but only sweetened with organic cane sugar, which is lovely and all but I prefer chocolate sweetened with coconut sugar or yacon syrup, both are lower on the glycemic index. Anyway, I’m happy to report they did have the Raaka I was looking for… Although I ended up buying Fine & Raw another brand sweetened with coconut sugar. The Hazelnut Butter bar was a 10 plus plus so thanks for making my Saturday. It’s great to find something sweet that I can eat that’s both refined sugar free and gluten free, even though that’s not your audience. I appreciate it!

So far, I have only been to Blackmarket Bakery for sweets when at The Camp. It is definitely hard to find parking at The Camp, so if you are looking to pick up something in a hurry, I would go somewhere else. Walking in, your eyes definitely focus on all the pastries and desserts behind the glass display and their delicious giant cookies. I have tried: One«Toff» Cookie, which is salty Toffee with Dark Chocolate, Cinnamon Snick which is a classic snickerdoodle cookie, the Blackstrap Betty which is a molasses cookie with dried apricot, and the Classic 2-tone which is your regular chocolate chip cookie. Out of those, I would say I enjoyed the One«Toff» Cookie if you are craving rich dark chocolate and Cinnamon Snick most. If you are a huge chocolate lover, I would also try the Black Widow Tart & Stab In the Dark tart and the Total Eclipse Cake YUMMMM! If you’re looking for something kind of different, I would try the Apricot Ginger scone & the Lavender Almond Lemon scone! Both are not that sweet and really emphasizes the ginger and the lavender taste. Having read the raving reviews on their sandwiches, I will have to try that next time!

I was at the Camp and decided to check out the Blackmarket Bakery to see what baked goodies I could try out while I waited for some friends. Reading some of the Unilocal reviews, my overall take was that baked goods were the way to go since it received such rave reviews in comparison to everything else. Per their sign outside; their specialties include: cakes, breads, espresso, sandwiches, tarts, cookies, chocolate & more. When I walked in, I was actually confused for a few seconds because I walked smacked right into an area where they sold t-shirts, mugs and random assortments of knick-knacks with the Blackmarket Bakery logo on it(visual overload). Don’t get me wrong now, it’s nice that they sell goods with their store logos on it, but it just wasn’t what i expected right off the bat when you think, Bakery… and when you walk in through the front door(where there is a very cute & cozy outside patio area by the way). Catching myself and walking closer, I noticed littered throughout the store, they have packaged baked good incorporated throughout the merchandize area filled with assortments of candies, chocolate and chocolate bars, hand-packaged fresh caramel popcorn, marshmallows, baked shortbreads, etc. Definitely a lot going on where you can easily stop and get caught up in reading the little signs and packaging if you had time. Once you look up though, you’ll see that okay, layout is as such: Far inner left hand corner is a nice & cozy inside seating area with tables and such for eating and sitting around. Far right hand side is the deli where they make your sandwiches to order. Pay attention to the little whiteboard hanging in front for any specials of the days and offers such as that particular day, they were having 15% off all orders on the 15th(awesome!). And finally the bakery takes up the inner wall from left to right. Their baked goods(refrigerated) are displayed in a pretty long length, but narrow width glass display case which showcases their tarts & cakes. Croissants and scones are located near this display cake, etc. Like I said though, you can literally find random baked goods throughout the entire store. Feeling a bit overwhelmed with all these options, I headed back to the bakery and went for the Black Bottom Crème Brûlée, which is basically a vanilla custard, chocolate ganache with touched sugar tart for $ 4.95(not including the 15% off). Overall, taste was just okay. Nothing too unique about the flavors as you have each bite(like a simple cream brûlée) which included a thin layer of chocolate ganache in the middle center. Not the best, but certainly not the worst. Will be interesting to try their other baked goods when I get the chance to see which ones are the best!

We got their berry poptart! The flavor of the pastry wasn’t anything really special, it was actually pretty bland which was upsetting since it looked so cute and yummy. Maybe the other foods are better though ?? The store it’s self if very cute and perfect for setting up your stuff to study or coming with friends and family. Super cute interior and it’s bright so that’s a bonus! The staff when I went wasn’t super friendly, she was short with her words and seemed annoyed which wasn’t great but she wasn’t especially rude or anything so it didn’t bother me much. Maybe ill come back, maybe not. We’ll see!

**BOGO Free Ice Cream Cookie Sundaes w/Yelp check in!!** I got The Hipster and my mom got the Snick @ Nite! Both come with vanilla ice cream, but they have different cookies and toppings! The Hipster was delicious, super sweet, but I still enjoyed it! The cookie was warm and soft, but had a crisp bottom, which gave it a good texture. There was peanut butter smeared on top and I loved it. The bacon bits didn’t really fit in for me, wish they were crumbles instead of flat pieces like that, but oh well. My mom really enjoyed her Snick @ Nite also, she couldn’t finish half the cookie, so we saved it and I’ll be eating it later! The bakery itself is super cute! I absolutely adore it. They sell other things besides pastries, like shirts and cards, and I just want to buy them all! Their other pastries look absolutely amazing, so I have to come back to try those! Will update my review as I try new things!

I wasn’t terribly impressed after visiting the previous location, but I’m a fan after visiting twice now at their spot within The Camp, having experienced a tasty breakfast sandwich, cookies, brittle, and using my Unilocal check-in to take advantage of a BOGO cookie sundae(nice!). I especially enjoy their cookies behind the glass display(vs. the pre-packaged cookies and treats); unfortunately, those cookies aren’t available until after 11:00 A.M. Nice staff. Cute little shop(limited seating), with some fun gift-y items, and even some boxed games to play at the tables. I’m eager to try the other menu items, as well as the many attractive treats behind the case!

Chocolate bread pudding –WAYYTOOSWEET. I mean I love chocolate but JEEEEEZUS lol! The amount of sugar and chocolate was overwhelming . Chaka bread was okay– probably better to eat with some ham and cheese. Not really plain since its dry But what I LOVED about this bakery was the seating. It’s great to come here for some girl time and talks. Cannot lie, the sweets looked great. Cookies, pretzel, tarts, marshmallow anything you can think of really. Great place for photos— FORIGOBSSESSEDPEOPLE

The mocha’s are sweetened with a chocolate ganache – tastes great. The BLAT with egg(tried it twice): the bacon is thin and overcooked, it comes with mayo – who still eats mayo – and a massive sweet pickle wedge that adds an unexpected and unpleasant flavor to the sandwich. The lettuce could/should be replaced with spinach or arugula rather than one giant leaf that tastes gross when warmed by the egg. The Gobbler: the white bread was flattened and toasted to a chip; the Granny Smith slices over-powered the flavors of the other ingredients and were a bit too hard; giant pickle wedge strikes again. $ 10 down the pipe This place has potential; maybe avoid the sandos. Also, one shared restroom for men, women, kids, staff; indoor and outdoor seating; board games.

I came in yesterday cause my coworker always comes in with some sort of pastry in her hand and 9⁄10 times it’s from this place. I have to say I’m a little disappointed… first off don’t come here during lunch or you’ll spend half of your lunch looking for parking. Second of all the treats aren’t really all they’re cracked up to be :/I was in such a rush that when I got to the car I realized the cinnamon roll wasn’t even warmed up and all I could taste was honey and my cookie was hard :(service was amazing which why I’m giving it 3 stars. I guess I’m willing to try it again if I’m not in such a rush…

Never been so excited to find a new bakery in my life. my daughter & I just finished lunch and decided to come in for a little treat. As she opened the door there was a amazing aroma of butter, quite frankly smacked me in the face. It’s as though someone had slathered me in butter… heaven, and I instantly knew that I have found new favorite bakery. . First I checked-in on Unilocal, for my buy one get one FREE BoGo Cookie Sundae. You can choose any flavor of cookie or brownie then they top it off with a generous portion of vanilla bean ice cream & then drizzle caramel all over the top. My daughter chose the Blackstrap Betty cookie. Large, chewy molasses drop cookie with little chunks of dried apricots. She LOVEDIT! she said one of the best tasting cookie ever. Cost $ 5.45 I chose to pass on the ice cream and bring my cookie home… still stuffed from lunch. I chose the Lemon Pukker Up cookie. It taste just as it’s named. Tangy but sweet from the sugar on top & it dissolved on my tongue, because it’s so thin & flaky. Also I forgot to mention that it’s HUGE! Not to huge for me to take down alone ;) especially for $ 2.50 My favorite purchase of the day was their Lemon & Blueberry Croissant. OMG! BOMB! MIND-BLOWING! First off you can taste the popping of the blueberries, in your mouth as you bite into them. A couple rolled onto my dish too ;) The lemon wasn’t over powering, and the top was toasted perfectly. It was flaky on the outside & the inside was soft and chewy. This by far was the best croissant /pastry, i’ve eaten in years! Well worth $ 3.25 The White Chocolate & Raspberry Bread Pudding is delicious! The portion is large enough to share for two. I didn’t get to experience the taste of it the way present it because I ordered mine to go. They suggested 45 seconds in the microwave oven and it came out still a tad bit cool. I added 15 more seconds, and it came out perfect. The raspberry is not over powering and the white chocolate gives it the perfect amount of sweetness. The breading isn’t soggy, or hard. I definitely recommend sharing a slice. Absolutely worth $ 4.75 Overall, the interior was cosy, and so easy to find. Their located right by a very large parking lot & valet station as you enter the Camp. The staff are amazing. So sweet & patient with newbies. They have a huge selection of other pastries that I will be back to taste each and everyone of & their sandwiches look delicious toooooo! Thank you! See you soon, because we’re now BFF’S! HIGHLYRECOMMENDTHISBAKERY!!! MYFAVORITE!

I have been wanting to check this place out for awhile due to the great reviews, and got my chance last week. I picked up a variety of scones, croissants, cinnamon rolls and other baked goods for a morning meeting. Each thing was SO good! Huge portions, unique flavors and just delicious. Hard to pick a favorite but I loved the lavender almond lemon scone and my latte. Most people ended up sharing since each item was so big — so consider that when ordering, you don’t necessarily have to order one item per person. The store reminded me of LGO in Phoenix with all the cute gifts, candles, and fun stuff you can browse. I wish I had more time to look around but had to get to work. I’ll definitely be going back soon. There are some seats throughout the store but it looked first come, first serve after you pick up your food in line. Conveniently located at The Camp.

Blackmarket Bakery cookies! I’ve been to the other location & enjoyed the blackstrap betty so i had to try more of their cookie selection at The Camp location next time i should try some of the savory stuff –two toned chocolate chip cookie: it sports both dark and milk chocolate chips! i got one fresh out of the oven, still cooling on the rack! it was yummy, melty and chewy they also sell sandwiches, pastries, and even artisan chocolates from a decent variety of companies! self serve water! Ive been to a few Unilocal events in the past where they served Blackmarket Bakery items but this was the first time actually going into the store at the CAMP. Ordered one of their apricot ginger cookies as a afternoon snack since we had just finished grabbing lunch over at the Halal guys down the street. The cookie was nice and chewy, probably due to the molasses. The flavors were very light and not overly sweet, which is a good thing, just sweet enough to quench the palatte.

Super cute bakery located in then Camp. Yes, parking can suck but it’s not the fault of the shops in this plaza. Chocolate almond bread pudding — 5⁄5 zomg this was my fave thing here! It was delicious with the perfect consistency and not too sweet. Crème brûlée tart — 4⁄5 very good and the thin layer of chocolate at the bottom of the tart was a nice touch Farmhouse breakfast sandwich — 2⁄5 it was super oily, including the bread. I like to take my time when I eat so about halfway through my sandwich it had become so soggy that I couldn’t really stomach eating it. Jalapeño cheddar pretzel — 4⁄5 my bf LOVED this. I tried a few bites and thought it was tasty as well. I will definitely be back to try the Cookie Monster bread pudding and pretty much every dessert they have to offer ;)

It is pretty damn hard to deny the likability of Blackmarket Bakery. Walking in you are swarmed by the infectious scent of warm bread, cinnamon and freshly brewed coffee. In fact, the smell alone is worth the visit. Once inside your eyes are next in line for treats as an endless assortment of cookies, breads, tarts, knots along with countless other baked goods, kick-knacks and a full coffee bar are for sale. The coffee is very good and they utilize exceptional beans by Kean Coffee. A large latte along with freshly baked Almond Chocolate Bread is a wonderful way to start a cold Saturday morning. Blackmarket Bakery is a great local small business that deserves our support. The only negative I can think of is the fact that they they are located inside of The Camp, a mall with roughly 1⁄5 of the parking spots that are actually needed and a penchant for hipsterdom. Stay patient and good luck.

I love how the bakery is decorated and cozy, but all stores in this shopping plaza need to build more parking spaces. I had a sudden craving of something cinnamon, and checked out their pecan roll(it did have a hint of cinnamon) then I tried it. It seemed awfully sweet but it wasn’t that sweet. At least it wasn’t as sweet as Cinnabon at a mall food court, and it didn’t give me the tooth ache like the Cinnabon. Bread was not chewy enough, rather dried sponge like, but it was loaded with tons of pecan nuts and sticky caramel. Hot chocolate was pretty cheap but it just tasted like watered down Nestle hot chocolate packages you can find it at Costco in a big box. Sorry, I am picky with my hot chocolate, so this one goes into a trash can. Peanut butter sandwich cookies… DID give me a severe tooth ache. It is really really really sweet and pretty salty at the same time. Texture of cookies and the PB filling is great but just too sweet. I felt like I needed to brush my teeth right away or else my teeth would start decaying already! Well, they have many other goodies to try out, including their freshly baked loafs of bread, only if parking condition gets better I would love to come back to try some more.

Meh. Trendiness can go a long way. Is it glitter or grease oozing out that breakfast sandwich? The brioche was good. Nice staff, shiny digs, crowded. Coffee ok, but far from wow. The other breads and pastries were not enticing enough to lure me in. Will return? Maybe, unless I find a better option.

Love this adorable storefront! BMB has been doing its awesome thing for years and I have only recently made it here and boy, am I thrilled I did! The fact that they are open reasonably late is a huge plus. The layout of the store is fun and open and there are tons of things to look at. My husband bought me my first flask here. The selection of baked goods when we went around 5:30 wasn’t huge, but was decent. I got a black widow tart and a crème brûlée tart… the crème brûlée is now my favorite. After dinner my husband and I went back for coffee and my mocha with marshmallows was soooo good! It was rich but not overly sweet, and with the sugary grainy melty marshmallows in it, it felt extra creamy. The staff is really sweet and the vibe of this place is just so fun. Definitely check it out!

I was really impressed by the BLAT sandwich here. I was already full but ended up snacking 1⁄3 of the sandwich away from the BF, so that must be the ultimate sign it’s good, right? The use of the croissant really makes it special and in my opinion ties the whole thing together. And the bacon was super crispy, which is oftentimes the downfall, but not here! We also shared the crème brûlée tart. It was fantastic. I would definitely buy one and bring home to snack on every time I pass by.

Ever since a client brought muffins in from Blackmarket Bakery on a Friday, I have been coming here to pick up a few breakfast scones or muffins for the office every time I feel like being nice. This has been a long standing tradition for me for the past three years. Every time, someone always ask where! The Camp parking lot is always a disaster and a hassle to find parking, but mornings are usually best. Parking is no problem! I usually pick up the usual muffin(Oat Bran) is my personal favorite and occasionally a coffee, but the most recent visit, I decided to pick out some scones and croissants to bring into the office for a Friday treat. I got Pineapple Coconut, Cherry Walnut, Lavender Almond, Chocolate Croissant and a Ham & Cheese Croissant. They were all wonderful! The cherry walnut was surprisingly delicious and I ended up having the ham & swiss for breakfast. If only I wake up earlier, I may include this as my weekly treat in the AM since it’s a bit off the path to work. For now, whenever the mood strikes works for me haha.

I came in here the other day to chill out while my fiancée was shopping. I figured that I would grab a dessert to nibble on while sat down and browsed Reddit. I ordered the crème brûlée tart($ 5). It was really tasty. The tart was flakey and the crème brûlée filling was really rich and even had some chocolate inside. Now it wasn’t the best tart dessert that I’ve ever had, but it was pretty good.

So I had never been to the Camp before and the previous night my wife and I had been at the Costa Mesa Buffalo Wild Wings and they kept talking about the Camp and Tacos Asylum. He said that they had new craft beers every week. We were staying at the Crowne Plaza right up the street so we decided to come by the Camp for breakfast and see what all the fuss was all about. We never made it past the Blackmarket Bakery. The ambiance in the place is very nice with plenty of space to sit and have a pastry, sandwich or enjoy a coffee/espresso drink. The young couple across from us were playing Jinja and another girl was putting a saying on the metal divider [using magnetic words] by the counter seating across from the displays. We had the turkey sandwich with brie. I thought that was kind of interesting because Harvati seems to be the choice cheese for finer turkey sandwiches. It was very delicious with the green apple giving it a nice crispy texture and flavor punch. If i had one complaint, it would be how hot it was in the place. And this was on an afternoon that was not that warm. I can imagine when the temps really go up, it must get really warm in here. Oh, love the shrit slogan«make loaves not war!»

I wanted to bring a sandwich to OC Fair and found this cute little place on Unilocal.(However, I did not realize until just now, half a day later, that overall it seems this place is more known for their baked goods and pastries.) I wish I could love this store more; I really do especially after reading such great reviews! I ordered the Hot Mess $ 9.25 [Bacon, Pepper Jack, Mushrooms & Shallots, Red Peppers, Artichoke Pesto on Seeded Sourdough] and it was just a hot mess!!! For $ 10, I had expected the sandwich to be a bit bigger, but was hugely disappointed by the rather petite size of the sandwich. The mushrooms were deliciously cooked but everything else, especially the lack of meat, was lackluster in both presentation and overall taste. I did try the toffee chocolate cookie as well and while the toffee was yummy, the cookie itself did not«wow» me.

I don’t come to The Camp that often, but when I do, I need to hit Blackmarket Bakery for sure. It’s on the small side with a few tables and chairs close to the doors. The variety of choices they have here from Sandwiches, coffees, desserts, pastries, etc are all really good eats. Here’s some of the stuff I’ve tried: Black Widow Tart — Good as advertised. It’s one of their signature dessert for a reason. DELICIOUS! Pumpkin Spice Meringue Tart — this was just okay. It’s a seasonal offering and the pumpkin really stood out. Chocolate Flourless Cookie — Another winner. I’m not a cookie fan, but these were just super chocolaty good. Bacon Pecan Brittle — I could not put these brittles down. I finished a package in the car as we drove home. Wifey was looking for it, oops, I must have forgotten them. Hahaha. Shhhh… Black Bottom Crème Brûlée Tart — it did warn me that it was black bottom, they were just too burnt for my taste. Pineapple Coconut Bread Pudding — It sounded good, but this was a total fail for me. I love pineapple and I love coconut, this didn’t taste like either. Not a fan of this one. Marshmallow — these aren’t your regular packaged of Jet Puffed. Holy moly was it good. Super airy and flavorful. Get this one. Service was okay. Price was on the high side, but you get what you pay for, well worth it IMO. If you’re looking for some very creative and good pastries, try the Blackmarket Bakery. You’ll definitely find something to satisfy your sweet tooth =) 2015 Review #86

Yum for freshly baked bread and pastries! 4.5 stars overall if I could — won me over with the croissant and bread, but ultimately fell short of 5 due to the brioche and babka. — Chocolate brioche: quite dry unfortunately, and the chocolate fell to the bottom when it was baked — Chocolate babka: loved the texture, though it was a bit too sweet for my taste — Chocolate croissant: super delicious and flaky, with dark chocolate(5 stars!!) — Eggywich with multi-grain: nicely buttered sandwich with layered, thin slices of eggs. Almond six grain bread was hearty, thick and so fresh(5 stars for the tasty bread!!) — Sunflower almond brittle: very sweet but delicate and light, makes for a great gift! Bakery is also filled with a large number of cute trinkets to shop for. Don’t forget to check in on Unilocal to get free coffee! Can’t wait to come back!

To fall in love once is amazing. But, to fall in love twice(with the same person) is pure bliss! I found myself @ Blackmarket’s original location in Irvine a few years ago, after tasting their CITRUSPASSIONFRUITMOUSSE cake at a birthday party. It was light, creamy, sweet & tart. A great balance of ingredients and not too sweet. One of my favorite cakes. Fast forward to 2013 when Blackmarket Bakery opened up it’s 2nd location at THECAMP, a hip and eco friendly plaza. I’ve frequented BB many times, but for some reason I kept my review for them on the back burner. It wasn’t until a few months ago that Linh Dan V told us about their PUCKERUP and that’s what sparked me to start writing ! Ready for a smooch smooch? This lemon sugar cookie is like no other. It’s outer rim is crisp and the center is soft(not mushy). Perfect cookie texture. To enhance your pucker, the sugar crystals are tart and will make you go «ooOO la la!» It’s amazing. My favorite lemon cookie; loved it Though steep in price($ 2.50), it’s big and so worth it. To sum it up, I love sweets and I love’em TART. Blackmarket bakery is creative, yummy and offers a huge selection. They managed to win my heart twice! One of the best bakeries in OC. TIDBITS: 1) They have cakes, cookies, breads, breakfast pastries, tarts, bread pudding, coffee, sandwiches, beverages, chocolates, and«sweet gears.» 2) Good quality ingredients used. 3) Card games to play while eating inside 4) Parking is challenging 5) Seating inside and a few outside(good for people watching:)) 6) Call ahead to see if they have the citrus passion fruit mouuse cake(seasonal; $ 22 for 6 inch round). Also call to see if they have run out of Pucker Up cookies. 7) Sign onto their website. You will be notified of baking classes, sales, events. CON: these goodies are a tad pricey and it takes a bit of effort to get them. «Good things don’t always come easy.» On the bright side, they have VALET parking and happy hour(selected discounted items)!!

Tried the cheesy fun guy sandwich because a coworker said they named that sandwich after me. After trying the sandwich, I’m taking that as a compliment! Mushrooms, bacon bits, melted cheese between grilled wheat bread. I really liked this sandwich and would get it again!
