I can’t imagine the world without this place in my life!
I have been going to Lauren Adams (colorist) and Erika Sheckells (stylist) for close to 10 years now. They make an amazing team, and even independently, they are each extremely professional experts in their fields. They made the move to DESA last year, and I couldn’t be more pleased. The salon is super cute, bright and naturally lit, and always has fun music and mellow vibes going on! It’s conveniently located (right at The Triangle), and booking appointments is super easy.

Lisa is so wonderful! It was the first time I ever got highlights and was apprehensive about it. She immediately put my mind at ease; listening to what I wanted, and gave me recommendations for the upkeep. And now, people keep complimenting me on my hair. Thanks Lisa, you’re the best!

I previously reviewed this salon for the cut I received, because I thought it was a very bad cut, and that the stylist hadn’t listened to me when I described what I wanted because he had his own idea of what would work. An uncomfortable experience, and I was hoping not to deal with the stylist personally because he hadn’t listened to me the first time – what would change with a second conversation? I’d only have less hair to ask someone else to fix.
The update: I have spoken with the owner twice (!) now, and he is the same person who cut my hair. This updated score reflects the business’s customer service now, and not just the cut I received (which I will be getting fixed elsewhere, so I no longer have such a random, uneven cut).
When he first called, I was at work – I explained many times as he talked over me that I had to call him back after, thinking he genuinely wanted to work something out because he was upset that I didn’t like my haircut (sort of like how I’m upset and wearing ponytails these days). The call ended with him muttering «You shouldn’t answer your phone then» *click* Yes, he hung up on me.
Later, and with more than a little fear because of how irate his tone had been during our previous call, I called him back. Big mistake. It started with just me apologizing for having hurt his feelings (not my intention – my previous review only stated that he was a bad match for curly hair, as I assume all of his other abilities must be good and this is just not his wheelhouse), and trying to explain what was bad about the cut, and why I had felt uncomfortable talking to him directly about it. He proceeded to call me names many times («rude», «malicious», and «cowardly»), and to yell at me for leaving him a negative Unilocal review. I can’t speak to the former two labels, as someone who usually goes out of my way to make the customer service experience positive for the person providing the service. I will say that I definitely felt cowardly though – or maybe just scared – as he went on a tirade about how I really DO need to put more effort into my hairstyle, and to tell me how nice of a person he is for «not bashing [me[ for being in a wheelchair».
Maybe I should have led with that – the owner is currently at least partially blaming my bad cut on the chair I was in. Which, totally fair, I just wish he had allowed me to move any of the five times I offered to be moved to a salon chair. So perhaps the review should be revised: don’t go to Chris if you have curly hair, are in a wheelchair, and tend to cry when people insult and make fun of you. Or perhaps, don’t go to DESA if there’s even the tiniest chance you won’t be satisfied. In my experience, the owner will verbally abuse you for not liking his work. At this point, I’ve paid to be harassed by someone, so that’s more upsetting than the usual bad cut.

Called to get an estimate on a TRIM, the receptionist said «uhhhh I don’t know everybody makes there own prices» then said a haircut is $ 80. Again, asked for an estimate in a trim. Atleast ask ONE of the stylist… There’s too many hair salons in CM to have that kind of shitty customer service.

Erika was awesome! I had questions about changing my hairstyle and she gave me great input unique to my hair type and face shape. She took her time with me and I had a great experience. Will be back.

I use to live in LA where I had a great gal doing my hair. After moving to Orange County and trying salon after salon and stylist after stylist I was beginning to believe I’d never find someone who 1) I could trust to listed to what I wanted 2) give honest feedback 3) someone who was reliable and last but not least 4) someone who actually took time to give me a great cut! I don’t even remember why I came to this salon (maybe a referral maybe just driving by) but I’m so happy I did. I found her!!! Yes!!! A great stylist!!! Rachelle is simply the best! I went to her a few months after my worst haircut to date and she fixed it! I’ve been coming a while now and love every cut she gives me. I wish I could wake up everyday and have her style my hair too!

Lisa Wingard is the best! Not only does she have a lovely personality, she also works wonders with hair. I had a mini-​disaster over the summer at another salon (spent over $ 350 across 2 appointments and ended up with a really disappointing harsh, unnatural, bleachy-​looking ombré). After one appointment with Lisa, I love my hair again. Also, I really appreciated that she worked with my budget after I told her my story (I never got any money back from the first salon). So thoughtful of her. I will definitely be back and I recommend Lisa to anyone.
One thing to take into consideration: The Unilocal offer for «20% off services» does not apply to all stylists, so be sure to ask about that in advance.
P. S. The salon is really cute and clean — the staff is cheerful & friendly — they return calls and answer questions promptly — and they offer fun snacks like gummy bears and beverages (incl. wine and beer) to customers — I love that :)

Lauren is the best colorist I have found and specializes in blondes. I have really fine tricky hair that does not like to hold any color and she has been the only one that can handle my crazy locks. I like to change it up constantly and she is always ready for the challenge. It always turns out amazing and if there is something she doesn’t quite like she will keep working on it until it’s perfect. I love how she takes such pride in her work and she’s so warm and fun to talk to. I will never let anyone else touch my hair as far as color. I do see Alyssa as well for my hair cuts and styling and she can do anything!!! I’ll bring pictures in and she always replicates them spot on. She even did my hair for my wedding which turned out better than I could have imagined. So Lauren and Alyssa are my go-​to gurls for the most perfect on trend locks.

This is one of the best I’ve ever been too. I walked in and was greeted with a smile by the receptionist. Christina was my stylist and she did a spectacular job. Not only was she quick but very gentle with my hair. She was patient with all my requests and with my hair. I won’t go anywhere else!

Lisa W. has been doing my hair for over a DECADE. I have followed her from different salons, and I would follow her to the ends of the earth! This magical hair wizard has taken my hair from black box dye, to black and red, to brown with blonde highlights, back to black, and then totally white icy platinum blonde. To go through all that and still have hair left on my head is magic in itself.
You can’t measure a stylist by how your hair looks when you leave, it’s how it looks a week, a month, 2 months after your appointment that tell you how good your stylist is. And no matter what I can always count on good hair days and tons of hair compliments. I recommend Lisa W. to anyone looking to have fabulous hair!

I just visited DESA for the first time because my unbelievable stylist, Christina Leone just moved here. She’s been cutting & coloring my hair for more than ten years. She is a professional’s professional. As a financial services exec I need someone reliable, skilled, and friendly. Christina is the best! She has numerous professional clients, and is always flexible when the situation demands it. She cuts hair amazingly, and is focused on detail. I have never had an issue ever, just a great professional experience.
The salon is very comfortable, easy parking, etc. Visit Christina and tell her Jim sent you!
And if you know anyone getting married… she does full professional hair, makeup, etc and has the high end equipment to do the job like every bridal party expects! I know I sound like her agent, but trust me and take your hair needs to Christina. You won’t regret it!

I stumbled into Desa salon for a trim and came back a month later to do something dramatic. Kelly gave me a wonderful pixie cut! She mentioned her husband, who also works at the salon is awesome at shorter cuts. So I’ll be seeing him when it’s time for a trim.
Everyone here is friendly and knowledgable. Kelly even gave me a few product samples on my way out :) Love this place.

I always go to Rachelle, she does amazing cuts and color! She cuts my husbands hair also, and she impresses us every time! Thanks Rachelle for always giving us such cool hair for great prices! We definitely recommend!

ALYSSA is super talented and professional. I had my roots re-​touched and a trim. Today was my first time at Desa and my experience was awesome. The salon has a good relaxing, cozy ambiance and the coffee is on point. Overall I had a good experience Alyssa is super friendly and easy to talk to no awkwardness here. Go book your appointments ladies.
Ps. If you have sensitive scalp like my self you will love the products that Alyssa works with I don’t remember the name but they are super gentle!

The salon was nice and everyone was friendly. I came here for my full highlights and base. Since my stylist moved into fashion I had to find a new stylist. And the reviews for Lisa were good so I booked with her. But my hair turned out pretty orange :(
So I was a bit disappointed.

I started going to Nicole at Desa Salon earlier this year and am so happy that I did! She was able to lift my already platinum hair to the perfect shade of white with absolutely no breakage. Not only is she super talented at what she does, she makes clients feel relaxed, comfortable, and is super fun to talk to.
The salon itself is clean, beautiful, and welcoming with a wide range of high end products to choose from. I definitely reccommend for anyone looking for a new salon/​stylist!

Lauren and Alyssa are so amazing and talented at what they do! I was a former client at Jack Winn Salon/​Cue Hair Spa and I just had to follow them both here! My colorist Lauren just moved here from Jack Winn Salon and I couldn’t be happier! Everyone was so nice and welcoming. The salon is light, bright and very clean! Lauren added some sunkissed balayage highlights and lowlights to my hair and I loooove it!!! Parking was really convenient too :) I highly recommend!!!

I haven’t trusted anyone with my color in 2 years. I went to Nicole on Friday and she was awesome!!! I love my color, I didn’t know what I wanted just gave her some guidelines about how I dress, how much time I’m willing to spend on my hair, and what I don’t like. I now officially have a new stylist !

The most amazing hairstylist I’ve ever had ! I absolutely love this girl, she asks all the right questions to give you your dream look. And talking with her is so easy. She is so personable and such a sweetheart. She’s not annoying or weird and she doesn’t talk to much. She did an outstanding job on my full head of highlights and I wasn’t there for a life time like other places. You need to go here and book with Lisa. She’s my new girl and I am not going to be going anywhere else!
