I have been thoroughly impressed by Mika and its reputation in the Costa Mesa community. Mika CDC should serve as a model for other community development organizations! Mika’s leadership is truly outstanding. Crissy, Keturah, Caryn, and team have developed such a clear and tangible vision for the role Mika will play in creating a better Costa Mesa. They are exceptional at what they do, and it’s always nice to see non-profit leaders who are as effective as they are passionate.

This is a non-profit organization whose vision is to enable the leaders of 6 low-income neighborhoods of Costa Mesa to transform their communities through community building, youth programs and other community driven initiatives. For a very minimal fee(about $ 10/student) parents can put their kids into afterschool dance classes and other fun events that MIKA puts on. One of MIKA’s big things is it doesn’t believe in pure handouts or complete freebies. The parents pay a minimal fee because it helps them feel empowered to contribute to their childrens’ lives, even if it doesn’t cost much. I’ve been to several events and have seen what a positive influence this sort of community organization can do to benefit a low-income child’s life. The staffers are amazing and genuinely have a heart for the kids they serve. You should see how the kids’ faces light up whenever they’re here.
