I’ve been coming to Shirley’s for over 30 years, since I was a kid. I might be biased because I grew up expecting all bagels to be as good as a Shirley’s bagel. Always fresh and there is a wide variety of different flavors. I’m simple, I just like bagels and cream cheese so I’ve never tried any of their sandwiches. I once ordered the lox platter for about 20 people for a baby shower I was hosting. It was a big hit and I was super impressed with how it was perfect and it was really busy when I picked it up. Costa Mesa is my favorite location. They even seem to taste better at this one too! It can be busy on the weekends!

If you’re coming here for bagels, they are absolutely bomb! Got the fiesta bagel on a jalapeño cheese bagel with sausage. It was also toasted, with a side of cream cheese. It was super filling, so I ate only half. Also got an iced coffee, but honestly I hated it. I took some sips of it and had to throw it away cause it was that bad. I tried adding half and half & liquid sugar but it was still pretty nasty. Customer service was okay. I was new to the place and they weren’t really accommodating.

Love Shirley’s Bagels. Everything is fresh. Great freshly squeezed OJ. It’s a busy place and I can see why.

Depending on the time you go Shirley’s can be packed or it can be you’re the only one in there(it’s open late for a bagel joint [4pm]). Service is friendly and relatively quick. Nova Lox on a Poppy Seed Bagel is my favorite thing from here but $ 9.75 for a bagel is quite steep. They make a tasty Egg, Cheddar and Turkey Sausage on a Jalapeño Cheese Bagel as well(only $ 4.50). Otherwise their bagels and homemade cream cheeses are on point! There may be better spots in the area to get breakfast but if you’re just in the mood for a good bagel Shirley’s is a good place!

I love Shirley’s bagels. ABC is my fav. But the last two times I ate there, the service is pretty slow. Last week, I waited 20 mins for my order. People that had ordered way after me we’re getting food before me. When I went up to the counter, they lost my order, took my receipt, put it back in the line. I then waited another 10 mins before I finally got my food. The food is awesome, but not worth the disorganized wait.

Family run business that gives you the feeling of being welcomed the minute you walk in the door. The bagels are pretty good too

This is a pretty decent bagel place. I came here for breakfast. A California bagel is about 6 bucks and you can split it in half and share and still be full. The bagels are made pretty quick and it is pretty busy in the morning! Park in the plaza with sidecar!

«LOVETHISPLACE» was in the area and used my Unilocal app to find a place to grab a bite. Place was busy but move quickly, service was very friendly, place looked very clean. Had the«California«on a jalapeño cheese bagel, very good, everything from the avocado to the bacon was very fresh, a very good deal for 6 bucks. Ordered a mocha ice blended to go with my bagel, coffee taste was a bit bitter for my taste, I will definitely try the caramel ice blended next time. No pics this time, poor bagel didn’t have a chance to pose, I saw I ate, yum yum. Would and definitely recommend this place.

I love this place it have the best egg&cheese ever! The place is clean, and all the products are super fresh. I love the pact they making it in front of you. They have pretty big selection of bagels, cheeseNd veggie to choose from. I sew they have different combinations on the menu(I don’t eat meat so I didn’t took a look on it). The only reason for the 4 stars is because I think that almost $ 7 for egg&cheese with no meat is little pricey. But still, this place is amazing and the bagels is delicious.

I have been to several bagel places over the years(einstein bagels to Noah’s bagels in west hollywood) and this place is the best by far I have been to shirley 20 – 25 times in the past 3 years and it has been great EVERYTIME! The bagels are always tasty and fresh and I get their california breakfast bagel and it awesome! The staff is ALWAYS polite and helpful too! As Unilocal says… ASGOODASITGETS! Keep up the great work and I will ALWAYS be back!

FAST, CHEAP, SATISFYING– all the fixings to what a bagel should strive to be. I ordered the Lox & Egg breakfast bagel. I waited 10 minutes to order, and received my bagel 10 minutes later. I ate the bagel in 6.2 minutes. The entire exchange(from entry to exit) took around 26.2 minutes. I spent less than $ 10, and left a very happy camper. The locals seem to love this place, and they know what’s good.

Every Sunday mid morning we go to Panera breads to get our usual bakers dozen for $ 10.99. My family loves the cinnamon crunch and asiago cheese best. This past Sunday we went in at our usual time and to our surprise, all the bagels were gone! We were very disappointed, so we decided to give Shirley bagels another try. While we were waiting in line we were looking at the choices in bagels, and they did not look very appealing. The bagels that my family like most at Panera breads cost extra at Shirley’s bagels, and they don’t taste as good. Panera breads does not except tips even when you try to give them a tip, whereas Shirley’s bagels has a tip jar on their counter; and when you pay they have a tip section to pay on their computer. We the customer are standing in a long line for at least 10 minutes. Then we pick out the bagels we want, we are being told we have to pay extra for certain bagels. There are no signs telling the customer which bagels cost extra, I guess you have to be a regular to know that. Bottom line is, I will make sure I get to Panera breads earlier to get my bakers dozen. I don’t know what they do different, but my family, friends and I like there bagels best!

If you don’t come here early, expect to stand in a long line. I got the Salmon Lox bagel and it was delicious but I thought it was a little pricey. I would rather spend $ 9 on bagels and cream cheese from the market. Parking in this plaza is absolutely horrible. It is almost impossible to find a spot here.

Hands down the coolest bagel place ever! Great people, great food! Located on 17th next to where I run my laundry errands. They even have a window so that you can see them make their bagels fresh in the morning.

i’ve been wanting to try this place for awhile, and I’m glad I finally had the chance to. The shop is in the same shopping center as Starbucks. Parking is not too bad. There’s usually space when I go there. I ordered the baker’s dozen which is actually 13 bagels. I picked the jalapeño cheese bagel and the cinnamon sugar bagel and I didn’t realize that it costed $.50 extra until I saw my receipt… I wish the lady would have told me… Not that an extra dollar would have been a big of deal but I think it is common courtesy to let customers know if they will be paying for something extra. I wish the baker’s dozen included cream cheese, but unfortunately, that is also extra. What is also nice is that they have day old bagels for half the price. So if you’re looking for cheap bagels, there is rack near the condiments. They sell them per half of a dozen or per speciality bagel. All in all, I would come here again because their bagels are simply delicious!

This is my first time here and I will come back for as long as my arteries don’t clog into oblivion. I came in at 2:43, almost closing time so I figured pickings would be slim. They still had an assortment of flavors available such as: pizza, jalepeno cheese, marble(rye and something), chocolate chip, everything, oatbran, etc. I was expecting more interesting flavors of cream cheese(cookie butter, your basic pumpkin spice), but I was a tad let down. However, I tried their chocolate chip cream cheese and was whisked off into a land where you can exercise after eating and not get cramps. They make all their bagels behind a glass window so you can see everything :) I ended up with a blueberry bagel with a light spread of strawberry cream cheese. The bagel is crispy and chewy, however I wish it had more blueberry punch. The amount of cream cheese requested is also a good portion. Definitely would come here for my carb fix. $ 2.95 at most for a bagel with cream cheese ! They also offer bagel sandwiches and acai bowls. This is a seriously dangerous plaza, as there’s Shirley’s, nothing bundt cakes AND sidecar!

They forgot my potato salad so I’m a little offed by that. However, food was delicious and on point… if I had eaten it and not taken it to-go. Ordered the veggie bagel, add cucumbers, on the jalapeño cheddar bagel, cream cheese on the side. Mmmmmmmmmmmm, would have been perfect for breakfast! Unfortunately the bagel was wet when I had eaten it so, a little bit weird in the texture! It’s light and not too heavy for breakfast. Again, would have liked to try the potato salad but they told me to keep the receipt and they’d give me one next time.

I recently found this place and it has quickly become a favorite! After overhearing a young woman in front of me order this open face bagel I rushed to the counter and said«i’ll have what she’s having»(I’ve always wanted to say that). I had an everything bagel, toasted with the CTA(cream cheese, tomato, avocado). I order this with Fiesta cream cheese(with jalapeño bits) and added bacon. It was insanely good and stimulated my palate on so many, complimentary, levels. The bagel was around $ 6 and I could barely finish it. I would definitely recommend Shirley’s to friends! The only drawback was that many of the workers had thick accents and were a little difficult to understand in the loud and crowded environment of the lunch rush, but it was worth the hassle.

Okay. This place is DELICIOUS. Fresh, tasty bagels in comforting sandwich combinations? Refreshing smoothies and lovely coffees? It’s all you would expect for a beachside bagel shop – delivers the goods with all the casual comfort. This place is located in a tiny plaza in Costa Mesa/Newport, thus attracting your carb-conscious beach chicks and careless Costa Mesans. They have a TON of bagel sandwich offerings – I opted for the Chipotle Turkey Aioli and was blown AWAY by the amount food and flavor they put in it. They toast the bagel to a perfect sandwich-crunch while still remaining fluffy, and add all the freshness of juicy vegetables with tasty(and hearty) offerings inside. It’s an explosion of carb-comforting flavor! Of course to wash it down I’d need to get their Strawberry-Banana smoothie. It was mediocre but satisfying nonetheless. Made on the spot. I wouldn’t expect much. The sandwich also came with some of their own toasted bagel chips(how clever/genius, made with their own bagels I suppose; tasty as well). The employees were super friendly, as one of the guys upgraded my drink(on accident, he claimed!). The entire feel is super beach-casual. Very casual location, attracting early risers to late-afternoon crowd. Young, old, adult or not, this spot delivers the goods and can definitely cater to any one taste. When I’m feeling not so carb-conscious, I’d love to grub on this again. Tasty, filling and fresh as heck!
