It’s a shame this place is being shut down and kicked out in this manner, but based on the quality of the food and the loyalty of its customers, I’m sure they’ll be up and about somewhere soon. My friends and I came here after a hike on Saturday because 1) we were hungry, 2) we heard it was closing down and 3) I had it bookmarked. We left stuffed beyond belief and sad that they would no longer be there in a couple days. Well, not sad in the sense where we were crying about it, but we all just thought, «Man, that sucks.» Regarding the food, this was one of those places where you really couldn’t go wrong with a selection; everything ranges from the ‘good’ to the ‘awesome’ categories. Unfortunately for me, my Ehringer’s Irish Answer omelette was«only» in the ‘good’ range: it didn’t explode with flavors and the idea of it was better than it tasted, but I always enjoy bacon and potatoes, so don’t take this as a real complaint. The Southwestern Scramble was great and Mrs. Beecher’s Delight(w/egg whites) was refreshing and excellent. And the dish that scored an ‘awesome’ was the Combo Waffle. We ordered this as a community plate and we massacred that poor thing; it never had a chance. The waffle was soft, the fruits were fresh, the walnuts added texture and the whipped cream was so dang good. I highly recommend you try this… when they reopen. I hope the new Vons gets no business whatsoever and has to shut down.

Fire Station #3=A good way to start the day off with a bunch of protein! It was chicken, egg whites, tomatoes, onions, and salsa. Sub extra fruit for breakfast potatoes. There wasn’t anything wrong with the omelette, it just lacked originality. I was expecting an amazing omelette(courtesy of the 300 something raving reviews), and it was fine. I do agree that the apple butter was good, but overall, I wouldn’t recommend this joint for breakfast. I liked the feel of the restaurant… an old establishment where everyone knows everyone. It seems like a typical place to have weekend brunch. So for the locals sake, I’m sad to hear its closing.

I waited 45 minutes to eat the BESTWAFFLESEVER for the last time … it makes me SOSAD that their closing. I highly recommend the COMBO waffle(strawberries, bananas, walnuts, caramelized sugar)… I have had A LOT of waffles in my life… A LOT! OP has the best waffles by far. I went to try Plum’s Café’s waffles the next day(thinking it would be my next waffle place after OP closes) but it was not even close to the way OP makes their waffles. I will miss your OMNOMNOMN worthy waffles, Omelette Parlor(tear).

This is a fun place to go, doors close on May 31st of this month. I’m guessing that they will re-open in another location — I hope they do. I’m a fan of their English muffin, especially with the apple butter they serve; it’s great. This is a really nice, casual place. The omelets are served with potatoes, fruit and the aforementioned English muffin and apple butter. The apple butter is one of a kind and not to be ignored and left on the tiny paper cup on the plate. I haven’t been to any other place that serves it; you really should try this in my opinion. It was packed when we went and it won’t be around much longer in that location. Hope to visit it again should it open in a new location. Judging by the crowds the restaurant attracted, I’m betting it will.

It’s the last week of service for the Costa Mesa Omelette Parlor, which was served its 30-day notice by Vons to vacate after 27 years in the plaza. My brother and I went out to brave the weekend crowds at this gem of a breakfast place to give it one last hurrah. We both got the fresh squeezed orange juice, which is a must! **Note: They charge by the glass for the OJ — no free refills! The food was heavenly. I got the«Every Clouds Silver Lining» omelette, which came with diced bacon and three different cheeses. All omelettes come with a wheat English muffin served with apple butter(so yum) and home fries that are piled high and so fresh(my favorite!) Come by and flood this place with business before it closes its doors on May 31, 2010! You can visit their facebook page or sign up to their guest list to see if they will move to a new location.

SO sad about them being kicked out by Vons. Damn that Vons!!! Their lat day is May 31st… it states that they are still not sure if they will relocate, which I hope they will, or just close down for good. Man that sucks. Ok update on the food. I’ve tried most of their omelettes so that morning I try the OC country fried steak and eggs! OMFG,., yeah its like that. Great portions. their country fried steak was crispy and moist in the inside… The potatoes were bland but I think they do this so you can season it to your liking. The apple butter was bomb which I took from my wife’s plate. hahaha Their OJ is the best around. I will truly miss this place if it permanently closes. I really hope they just relocate. Either way Thanks CM Omelette Parlor for feeding us great food for so many years!!!

So sads. «The Costa Mesa Omelette Parlor on East 17th Street is shutting its doors sometime this month after a near 27-year run, said owner Susan Adkins. Adkins said she was given a 30-day notice last month by the property owner who plans to level the shopping center to include more retail shops. The makeover will include a bigger Vons. Adkins said it is unclear whether she will find a new location. Time will tell where and when she will reopen the restaurant, she said. Adkins said she would post an exact closing date on the restaurant’s website.» source: – This place has awesome food. wonderful servers who enjoy making their customers happy. good food at wonderful portions. breakfast is the most important part of the day and to have this place close down is way too depressing. Their apple butter! :’(

Top thing: whole wheat english muffin buttered and toasted with AMAZING apple butter. although one of my english muffin slices was burnt dark brown, i still ate the whole thing. 4 friends and I went there on Sunday at 11 and was seated in 20 minutes. Our host was young, rude, and showed favoritism. He was awkward. I don’t think he’ll be a waiter anytime soon… chatting up random people and totally ignoring us except to wave us aside, or in my friend’s case, taking the pen out of her hand as she signed up for the waiting list(since she didn’t know he was the host b/c he was just wearing normal clothes and chatting with some guy on the job). I ordered the«what’s cookin’ ma» omelette(instead of the waffle combo which I was eyeing) and although the ingredients sounded good, surprisingly, everything was sort of bland. The huge mound of potatoes looked great, but I had to add more than just tabasco. I never added salt and pepper before! Other friends ordered the hawaiian omelette, it came with stuff and pineapples. that was interesting but again, everything was bland and heavy. one friend ordered the bacon, avocado, and cheese one. and the insides were yummy, and really huge. but. nothing that made us want to finish everything. Last friend ordered french toast. Yummy! Honestly, HUGE portions for way affordable price. CUTe booth that we all crammed into. Interesting decorations. Food is good if you add salt and pepper. Would I go again? yeah — a good joint to chill with people.

I think I met the nicest waitress ever at The Costa Mesa Omelette Parlor. Once we found it that is. Because I’m here to tell you finding this place is a little tricky. It’s in a strip mall and the main sign out front and on the actual building both say Chester Drawers. So, when you see that sign you now know you’re in the right spot. The interior is really open and full of cool wooden booths. We ordered a bevy of beverages and so I was able to experience first hand the very spicy Bloody Marys as well as gargantuan mimosas and tasty coffee. We were waiting for a bit for a fourth person to join us so while we waited we shared biscuits and gravy as a breakfast appetizer. I’m kind of a critic of this dish because I ate it a lot growing up in the South(Tennessee for part of my childhood) and I’m happy to say the Omelette Parlor did not disappoint. For breakfast I had a California omelet and while it wasn’t anything spectacular it was just as good as omelets I’m had at dozens of breakfast spots so I’d order it again. And that nice waitress I mentioned? She let me have egg whites and tomatoes instead of potatoes with no fuss at all which I definitely appreciated.

So 6 hours after having breakfast at Costa Mesa Omelette Parlor, and I am still full. The breakfast here is fantastic and the wait for a table proves it. Because there were only two of us, we were seated(after about a 10 minute wait) in a small table against the wall. We were quickly given water and needed a few minutes to decide what we wanted. They had a variety of omelettes on the menu and it was difficult deciding which one to get. I went for the South Coast Finest Omelette which was cheese, bacon and avocado. The omelettes come with a side of potatoes, a wheat nut English muffin and some fruit. It didn’t take very long to get our order. The English muffin they have here is one of the best English muffins I have ever had. I am sure the bountiful amount of butter helped but man is it good. I smashed some of my omelette on top of my English muffin and I was in breakfast heaven. The side of potatoes are good but not the best I have had. I am glad to have found a new breakfast spot!

Special thanks for my friend Nina O. for introducing me to this place! I never would have found it if I hadn’t gone with a local Newport Beach-er. The Omelette Parlor is similar to a Carrow’s or Denny’s but 10x better. The décor is comfortable and homey in an eclectic sort of way, and the servers are really friendly. As for the food, I ordered one of the omelettes(of course!) off of their extensive omelette list; it was good, but not spectacular. What really stood out, surprisingly, was the buttered English muffin and their apple butter. English muffins are usually so «blah», so I don’t know what the heck they did to theirs to make it so delicious, but I loved every bite! Something cool: They let us bring in our coffees from Kean Coffee down the street and didn’t give us any weird looks while we sipped away at our table. Thanks, guys! P.S. How do you spell«omelette»? My computer tells me it’s «omelet», but I don’t like that version… it doesn’t look as fancy…

So… I guess I should have read the reviews more carefully. If someone says this place is a better alternative to Dennys or IHOP… you know that can’t mean it’s that great. Yes, there was a line going out the door. And yes, we waited for about 20 minutes for a table. Was it worth it? Still not convinced. While the food was tasty and plentiful, the menu didn’t offer any selections that I couldn’t *easily* make at home, nor did it impress me all too much. By tasty, I mean it wasn’t disgusting, but it also wasn’t amazing. Had the Goofoffer Omelette — but wanted the marinara on the side. Unfortunately, they pre-mix the ingredients, so you can’t substitute this one; this omelette has Italian sausage, mushrooms, mozzarella, onions, and marinara. I wanted the marinara on the side. Talk about confusing — there’s nothing on the menu, at least that I saw that tells you how much it costs to custom-make an omelette. But anyways, I had to order a custom to get the sauce on the side, decided to forgo the onions… which somehow made my omelette 50 cents cheaper. The combo was good, but again… very easily could have made this sucker at home. My husband really liked the potatoes. The apple butter was ok. Nothing to write home about. The Mr. ordered the Two and Two and a side of yogurt and granola. Uh, his 2 eggs looked like 1. It’s nice that it comes with French toast, but that was just average and not something I would recommend ordering on its own. I know that some people really dig the whole vintage look but… this place just came off as dirty to me. I dunno, maybe I’m getting a little too OCD for my own good, but I felt a little grossed out by the black buildup of something on the steps, and since I was seated facing the kitchen, I could see the waitresses in the kitchen, eating while they were prepping plates, etc… not too appealing. Summary: Passable, but extremely ordinary(and boring). Will not be going back.

This place definitely lives up to it’s hype. Luckily, we strolled in right before the rush. We were immediately seated in the back. When you look around you get this sort of country feel. Wooden booths, potted plants, etc. It was definitely a change in what you’re normally accustomed to in the OC. I found it all to be endearing. After much debate on what to order, i decided on the Fire Station #3. From the looks of it, I probably should’ve ordered the Belgian Wonder Wa-Fulls! Oh well, there’s always next time. All the omelette plates come out looking the same. You get fresh cut fruit, home-fried potatoes, and a wheat nut English muffin. My omelette consisted of 6 egg whites stuffed with white meat chicken and tomato. It also came with a side of salsa which is very much needed. The omelette was so fluffy on top of all the chicken and tomato that were stuffed inside made the omelette amazingly fat. The home-fried potatoes were absolutely delicious. It included the skins of the potatoes and onions. You got some of it mashed and some of it in clumps. The service was very swift and efficient. Not to mention friendly. The staff is very much on top of their game here and they work at making sure all of their patrons have a good experience here.

Just like any other good things in life, this place is hard to find. You seat yourself here; don’t wait for the host to seat you. I heart egg and I heart breakfast. so this place is perfect for me. We ordered Mrs. Bleecher ‘s Delight omelette(swiss, mushroom and spinach), Costa Mesa omelette(bacon, avocado and cheddar), apple juice and coffee. You get to choose either english muffin or toast with your omelette. It also came with home-fried potatoes and fresh fruits. Bleecher omelette: generous amount of swiss… very yummy Costa Mesa omelette: yummy also Apple juice: not fresh… from the bottle My favorite was the toast; it came with apple sauce. At first I thought it’s kinda weird to have bbq sauce with omelette. It’s home-made apple sauce. You can also ask for jam and they give you fresh strawberry jam. I would go back there just for the toast and apple sauce… really! I would come back here. Maybe I should play hookie and go here instead of working tomorrow… The Costa Mesa Omelette Parlor. A reason OC is the second best place to live!

Sweet Apple Butter for Your Delicious Muffin! Started my 3-Day-Mini-Vacation with a great breakfast. What a way to start those 3 superb days! Costa Mesa/New Port Beach is my favorite area in the OC. So, what a blessing the area has with such a great breakfast place as this! The Parlor even sports a Costa Mesa Omelette(Eggs, Cheddar, Avocado). There was minimal avocado. thus the loss of a star. Apple Butter This is 5 stars and is delicious. Spread it all over your muffin and enjoy! Bath Room was as stinky as H***! Hopefully they fixed it. Costa Mesa Omelette Parlor. Another reason the OC is the best place to live!

I’m not a breakfast person, namely because Mon-Fri, I am on the go and off to work. On the weekends, I enjoy to sleep in. So it is no surprise that breakfast is the rarest meal for me. I had a friend visiting up north and because I haven’t seen her in quite some time, I thought waking up early to catch breakfast wouldn’t kill me. By the end of my visit at Omelette Parlor, I do not regret pulling myself away from the comfort of my bed. First of all, the place is practically invisible… literally a hole in the wall. If you see a Vons in the plaza, then you are in the right place. It’s tucked away in the corner and the sign for the actual store is painted on the window. When we came inside, we were greeted by someone that couldn’t be any older than middle school/early high school. Shocked, he led us to our table. Anyways, the place is decked out in all these cool knick knacks… bottles there, hanging plants here, huge suspended wagon in the air there… Anyways, the menu is pretty expansive, and the place is open from early morning til about 3(serving things from breakfast to lunch). Our table all opted for some type of omelette. I got something I can only refer to as «Clouds» and the rest of my table got things like pineapple, ham omlette… a tomato, italian sausage based omelette, etc. I wish I could remember the names so I know what to get next time. For a measly 7.50, you get a decent sized omelette(made with 3 eggs, egg whites are also available), home fries(yum), fresh fruit and buttered English muffins to go along with their homemade apple butter. Man, what a steal. I threw in an order of sausage patties and my meal came out to about 15, tax and tip. Not bad… Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal, devouring it in no time. The table also got the grapejuice. One of us thought they had to have added sugar to it, but it didn’t matter, everyone loved it. The only thing I noticed was toward the end of the meal, we were basically ignored. We left our money out and servers after servers walked by not paying any attn to it. Finally, we got up ourselves to pay. This place was kind enough to ask if we wanted to split the bill, that rarely ever happens this day. If for some reason I am up early, I’ll make it a point to head out to this place for breakfast again. P. S. On our way out of the restaurant, we passed a nail salon… and one of my friends saw a woman’s boob slip out of her bra. If a good breakfast and that doesn’t wake you up, I don’t know what will!

We came here the other day to grab breakfast. I guess this place is a miss for me on my visit as the food was average. HUGE portions, but average the least. I ordered the omelette with onions, green peppers, cheese and ham which came with a side of their potatoes, a few pieces of fruit, and your choice of muffin or toast. The potatoes came out a little too mushy for me, I prefer mine crispy. Our server was great and even paid attention to the fact that we had a baby and gave us some coloring pencils/paper for the baby to pay attention to while we waited for the food. If I stumble here next time. definitely going to split an omelette, too huge of a breakfast portion for me to chow down.

Delicious, but maybe the 12 mile bike ride around the Newport Back Bay made everything taste so damn good. Expect a wait if you go at brunch time. Normally i share my meal with the wife, but we just knew it wasn’t going to be enough today. I ordered me some Chicken Fried Steak, with three eggs, potatoes, AND biscuits and gravy. I love chicken fried steak and gravy, but now that i know how you make the gravy i have to watch myself. I know that they basically just use the left over oil from the frying and add some cream and flour and now you have breakfast gravy. So bad but oh soooo good. Probably didn’t need to order the potatoes well done, but that was my bad. The wife ordered the banana nut waffles which were also tasty, but she did scarf down her portion of the fried steak. Along with a cup of coffee and glass of OJ our portion of the meal came out to around $ 23 before tips.

Came on a weekday morning. We were told to just pick any table we wanted. The place had that funky old building smell that whacks you in the face when you step in. Service was quick and we got our food in record time. Just thinking about the apple butter with the wheat English muffin is making my mouth water again. Omelet was perfect like everyone else says it was. The bacon they used in the omelet was super thick and chewy, mmm. Potatoes were whatever; mine were on the crunchy side and super lumpy. The orange juice is pretty pulpy and tart… and ~$ 2.55 per glass. I’ll just stick with water next time.

Where have I been? This place seems like it’s been around forever, and I’ve been totally missing out! Kitschy, almost grungy, yet totally charming atmosphere. Awesome variety on the menu, totally reasonable prices(hello! Plum’s anyone??) and great portions will make me come back again and again. Our party all got various types of omelettes and everybody wolfed their food down. I got the bacon, avocado and cheddar cheese omelette. The crunchy bacon and creamy avocado worked perfectly together. It’s almost 9p.m. but writing about it makes me want to drive out and get an omelette right now! Can’t wait to go back and try all the other items on the menu.
