Got off work one day went in to meet a good friend of mine for lunch he told me about this place so I tried it out all I have too say awesome food nice environment cool people that work there i highly recommended this place to anyone i will be coming back

Worst fish in chips I think I’ve ever had. Went with a party of four, and two of the four orders were wrong. The batter was extremely chewy, and soggy. And the service was just as bad as the food.

After reading the Unilocal reviews this evening, I got myself psyched for fish and chips and went to Cape Cod in Cotati. After seating myself at a table just opposite of the soda fountain against the wall, I sat, and sat and sat waiting for a menu and for someone to ask for my drink order. It was becoming apparent to me that I might be in a clothing store instead as I watched some 19 – 20’ish guy trying to get into the pants of one of the (obviously new) employees. During the 10 plus minutes of watching this and waiting for a menu, the girl did manage to take the order of the party who walked in at the same time as me (they actually got menus when they walked in). Typically, I’d be very understanding if the place is busy but this is a Tuesday night and there were exactly 7 customers at two tables and the counter in the entire place!
Finally after the guy left making his attempt to score later tonight, the girl working there finally noticed that I was sitting there with no menu and no silverware even though she had been to the soda fountain less than 36 inches away from me twice before. It was fully another 10 minutes and after the party who arrived at the same time as me was served their food that I was asked if I would like to place an order. Rather than make a scene or make her feel badly, I simply told her not yet and left. While I’m certain that the food here is very good, I’ll never know. I do appreciate this girl saving me from spending my money here.

Came here with the intent to eat inside but the TV’s were a bit annoying so we decided to take our food to go. The staff was all very friendly and the restaurant itself was clean and inviting, other than the televisions blaring. The chef threw in a couple extra pieces of fish because he said he had made too much, so that was really sweet to hand over to us. We had more food than we could eat, but my boyfriend got lunch the next day with the left overs, so he was happy.
We ordered the fried mushrooms which were the best I’ve ever had. Full mushrooms, not just the caps, fried perfectly and with a side of ranch. They were delicious and you got quite a few for the price. We also ordered the 1 piece fish and the 1 piece fish + 2 prawns. Both meals came with chips (fries) and coleslaw, and we enjoyed the it all. Each piece of fish was HUGE and we could hardly finish one piece. The chips were tasty and the coleslaw was fresh. Their tarter sauce is really spot on.
Only reason they don’t get 5 stars is because of the batter… and I see many others have mentioned that in their reviews. The batter is too thick, in my opinion. It takes away from the fish when the batter is super thick. There wasn’t much seasoning in the batter either, from what I could taste. That would be my only complaint but really, we were pretty satisfied and will definitely be back soon! Glad to have found good fish and chips near my house. Thanks Cape Cod!

Craving GIANT portions of fresh, deep fried seafood that’s easy on your wallet then look no further! You’ll be seated promptly and given a laminated menu.
My friend and I shared an order of fried mushrooms served with ranch. These mushrooms were whole, huge, and so very JUICY. Beware that while exteriors are perfectly crispy, not at all greasy, nor hot to the touch: the water trapped inside each one truly is! I strongly suggest letting each cap rest in the bath of cool ranch dressing for a minute before biting into them because the juices will begin to flow out immediately and otherwise burn your tongue. Remember you were warned; no seriously be careful!
I ordered the chicken and fish combo basket. It comes with house made coleslaw. I added garlic fries for 0.75 cents more; and oh, yes it was so worth it. No garlic powder here; just fresh minced garlic poured over crisp potato wedges. The 2 chicken strips are large flat style that’s been lightly seasoned then fried to rich brown color and served with ranch for dipping.
But who cares… We all know that the chicken while good is just part of the chorus and you came to see a 5 star show, starring Cape Cod’s very own, the beautiful… FRESH FISH!
These portions are so HUGE, delicate, and flaky pieces of fish that’s not over– battered but served golden brown and costars with a bright wedge of lemon and with an uniquely flavorful FULL bodied tartar sauce, that can not disappoint! Ask for extra sauce, don’t be shy. It goes very great with a Red Trolley ale or two.
You’ll definitely want to get a separate order to go and you won’t want to share with friends, at least I didn’t.
Come hungry and bring a few friends for added fun and laughs.
When you finally get up from your seat, leave the table to pay the tab… One of the first thoughts you’ll have is why can’t this establishment do delivery? Followed by dammit I need more than a lunch hour!!!

Very greasy, not worth the price — butttt because of the cheap beer and sports playing (although on small tvs), i would be willing to give it a second shot — in awhile

I just recently tried this place. I wanted to compare with 2 other popular fish N chip places i go to. I have to say this one is my least favorite because, it was so coated in batter. I couldn’t taste anything but the batter and grease, and it has lots of it. I prefer the lighter battered fish. I would try again if i can get less batter. For the price, you do get a lot of food. Of the 3 places, this one gives the most food for your money. They also have the best fries out of the 3. The coleslaw is good, and so is the tarter. We did order the extra pieces of fish, since only one liked we had too much. I will redo if i retry or can get with less batter. If your a person who loves lots of batter, this is the place for you :)

To me, the benchmarks of good fish and chips is a crunchy batter, firm fresh fish and imperceptible of grease. This met the mark! I actually had the #8, which was one piece of fish and two prawns. The fish was a huge fillet that was fresh, moist and flaky with a batter coating that was a bit thick but crispity crunchy, light and nicely seasoned. Prawns were huge, fresh and crispy in the same batter though a bit thinner. Chips were these amazing wedge fries that are also crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. Slaw is savory and sweet, hint of pineapple and not overly dressed. Came with cocktail sauce and tartar sauce that had just enough dill in it. Place was very clean too. Love it1

I LOVE good fish n’ chips!!! I had one piece cod meal. Huge piece of fish and outstanding chips. I made them garlic. Really good cole slaw and excellent tartar sauce. These are without a doubt the best I’ve ever had. Prior to this it was Jack London Pub in Carmel. If you love good fish n’ chips like I do, flock to this place. You will not be disappointed.

I waited for almost 20 min for my order only to be told they couldnt complete it. They should have told me off top instead of having me wait so long. Ill never go back again, horrible service

It was good. The kids portions were nice and I liked the chips. I was not that excited about the fish tacos though. It was hard to find the fish and more like a fish salad in a tortilla. Like the ambience and it was a nice find.

Cap Cod fish and chips has been located in Cotati for as long as I can remember. Granted, this is their newer and much nicer location.
When you enter Cape Cod, you are welcomed with the aroma of mouthwatering seafood. Their clean modern restaurant has a good amount of seating. You can sit up front and look out the windows. Or, can tuck yourself in the back for more privacy. I prefer to sit in the back. It’s very quiet back there.
You will be seated promptly and given a simple 2 sided, lamented menu. I have never been disappointed here. They serve generous pieces of cod. Since chowder is one of those «hit or miss» kind of things, their chowder is pretty good compared to others.
You can definitely get all of your seafood cravings taken care of here, instead of driving out to the beach. They only thing Cape Cod is missing is the smell of the salty air and the sound of the waves crashing.

You must support Cape Cod Fish & Chip. Service & Food are top notch. Fish taco was delicious. Chowder was fantastic. Finding places like this is why we use Unilocal.Great job to the owners & staff.

This Restaurant was suggested to me by a friend that visited their old location but admits it is not the same anymore.
I was not impressed with the food or the service.
They have appetizers listed and we thought we would start with that. The whole concept of an appetizer is that it comes before the meal while you are waiting. This did not happen. I was well into my second piece of fish from the meal I had ordered before it showed up.
The fish and chips were decently portioned, but the breading was a heavy dough type rather than light. It was overly drenched in the breading as well. Not my idea of good Fish and Chips. I ordered Garlic on my fries and that was omitted too.
I can’t recommend this Restaurant and I will never be back.
A personal pet-​peeve here. but I think this whole TV set in a restaurant concept is in poor taste unless it is a sports bar. Yep, there was one here that the employees were busy watching. But that is just me.

One of the best fish and chips in the north bay without having to go to the wharf. The food always tastes fresh and delicious and I love their fried zucchini as an appetizer.

While Cape Cod’s food is fine, I’m giving 5 stars because of their outstanding consistency and amazingly clean restaurant.
It’s a rarity in SOCO for an establishment to be this consistent AND serve up cheap food.

Three for 1 fish and chips please. Well that turned out to be a good decision. Plenty to each, all freshly cooked. Fish is one of the better I have tasted. Fries are not the British chippy type but were very good — hot and crispy.
Will be back. Maybe the best in the County.

This place is delicious. I’m so happy I finally decided to try this place after driving by it so many times. I received a coupon in ValPak for a dinner for 2 for $ 20 which includes an appetizer, two 1 piece fish n chips and two drinks. My husband and I dined it and got the onion rings for an appetizer. They were SO good. We both loved them. The fish n chips were also amazing, although my husband wasn’t as wowed as I was. He said it was okay but I thought everything was delicious. The service was alright. The food did take awhile to cook, but they cook it fresh so that’s okay. This deal was really good, but the normal prices are decent I suppose.
Since then, I’ve ordered for pick up a few times. One time I came in to pick up my order and it was very slow. The cooks (all male) STARED me down the entire time I was standing at the counter waiting to get my order. It was really awkward and bad customer service. Please don’t stare down your customers and make them feel uncomfortable (reason for the 4 stars). Other than that though, I love this place and will definitely be back to order more when I get the craving.

I like their fish & chips & claim chowder.
It’s a little pricey, but nothing in the area compares. The only better chowder around I’ve had is in Bodega Bay.
