in my opinion, Cotija’s has the best burritos in this area. –the tortillas are never soggy –they don’t fall apart while eating them –the meat is always tasty and cooked perfect –the guacamole and salsa are on point — very reasonably priced i would definitely give this place a try if you haven’t already…

We live here in Cotati. We like to try new places that open in our town. We came for dinner on a weekend at around 6p. The place was empty except for one other couple. I ordered a grilled chicken salad. I figured that there would be something Mexican about it. There wasn’t. The description in the menu mentioned guacamole. When the salad finally came. A very long wait for an empty restaurant. The salad was iceberg lettuce with a few pieces of chicken on it. Boring! I had to ask for the guacamole and some salsa. It was an awkward experience. We will not give these folks another try. Weak effort.

Very Fresh Mexican meals. My friend and I were thrilled that this new little place exceeded our expectations as recommended by a friend ! I had the chili relleno and it was fantastic ! With fresh, hand made tortillas, which were so good we bought some to take home !

I’m so glad I finally tried this new spot! …savory bean dip and awesome fresh salsa with your chips! I had the chili relleno and enchilada, all on point, as was the homemade Horchata. Warm service and colorful, festive atmosphere, I’ll be back soon try more of the varied menu:)

I’ll start with saying that I have been to this place 3 times in the last 3 days! That’s how good it is. The food tastes really authentic and fresh and the service is outstanding! The owners really go out of their way to make sure you’re enjoying your meal. I mentioned to the owner that I love Horchata water, but can’t have it anymore due to lactose intolerance and she offered to make me some lactose free horchata when I told her that I would be back on Sunday. I get there and sure enough I finally got to taste Horchata again it was amazing!(Forgot to take a picture of my huge cup). Oh! And they saved me birria for my tacos cause they knew I was going and they were running out. THEYARETHEBEST! FYI Birria, menudo and handmade tortillas on Saturdays and Sundays only. Reasonable prices as well. So happy that I live nearby and have decided that this is now our go-to spot for Mexican food.

Great food! I had shredded chicken tacos that were delicious! Salsas were good too, good flavor. Service was good, would definitely go again.

I think the food was very, very good. I had a combination plate — a fresh chicken tamale with the tomatillo sauce(also known as chili verde sauce) and a chicken enchilada with a red sauce, and I think the food was flavored well. My boyfriend had the al pastor tamale with the red sauce, and a chicken enchilada with green sauce. He was happy with the al pastor tamale. I think I found another«go to» Mexican restaurant. We were the only customers in the restaurant so the food server was very, very attentive, the food was served in a timely manner and the food was delicious! I hope they will stay open because the competition is tough — Marvins, a local favorite, China Chef, another local favorite and SuperBurger, which moved from Penngrove, is in the plaza.

I think the 2-star review was WAY too harsh. You have to keep in mind that this is business is two months old. Running a restaurant is HARD. Try and take everything in a greater scope. Right now I am eating beef soup with hot, hand made corn tortillas. No Mexican restaurant has ever brought me hand pressed corn tortillas off the grill. The soup is just what I wanted, comforting and yummy and fresh. I’m also eating an avocado tostada which sounds boring but is surprisingly yummy! The salsa has lots of oregano which makes it taste super fresh. I have been on the hunt in Cotati area for a Mexican meal that is really fresh and authentic, clean, friendly, and not a grease pit. Notice I haven’t reviewed any other local Mexican spots, because they weren’t worth mentioning. This one is my Jackpot!!! Also, the service was very familial — the owner was so sweet — and the breakfast looks SUPER yummy.

My boyfriend and I gave this place a try on a Friday night. He ordered a carne asada super burrito and a fish taco and I went with a carnitas super burrito based on the hostess’ recommendation. Chips and salsa were nothing special. Fish taco came ahead of the rest, wasn’t great, tasted like they used frozen breaded fish. His burrito came next, an awkward 5 minutes before mine, which showed up with a side of guacamole because, as the waitress explained, the cook, «forgot to put it in.» My boyfriend’s burrito also lacked the guacamole that should have been on it, but he noted that it did have plenty of sour cream and the carne asada was quite tasty. My carnitas tasted, well, very porky. I didn’t hate it, but if I ever go back to give this place another chance, I’ll be ordering something different.
