We would enthusiastically recommend Northern California Dryer Vent Wizard for vent & dryer cleaning. We have not been happy with the performance of our dryer for some time and hoped that cleaning our dryer vent would reduce the extended drying time measured in hours. Late last year we had our dryer serviced and dryer vent cleaned by other companies and were disappointed that our laundry drying time didn’t improve. Before investing in a new dryer, we decided to have Dryer Vent Wizard out to check on the vent line again. We were surprised that there is a diagnostic fee, but they came as a referral from two happy neighbors, so we booked the appointment. As promised, James called as he left his first job of the day, so we knew he was on his way. He was neat, polite, friendly and thorough. After listening to the dryer churning like a jet engine and observing the minimal exhaust air at the outside vent, James surmised that there was a combination of dryer and vent issues and proceeded to follow those leads. He first pulled out the dryer, removed the front panel and a lint path cover to discover a significant build-up of lint that I couldn’t easily have accessed.(At this point, I should mention that the other vent company doesn’t touch customer’s appliances, presumably to avoid being accused of damaging them.) Guessing that this was just the tip of the iceberg, we agreed to the price for a dryer cleaning rather than go back to the repair company to ask for a redo on the service they performed last year. James gave us a price for the vent line cleaning, but said that after he hooked up the blower, if not much blew out through the line indicating it was clean, he wouldn’t charge for that work. There was a substantial amount of damp lint that blew out into a pile outside of the house, so James snaked the line all 22′. He cleaned up the debris and helped us lower the deck cover back into place. Then he disassembled the dryer to get to all of the areas of lint build up which were many. James used a shop vac and damp paper towels to clean the inside and all of the parts. I was very impressed that he carefully used a fine metal pick to reach the tight places — excellent attention to detail. He finished up by cleaning the floor of any loose dirt. The best part is how quiet the dryer runs now and the increase in exhaust pressure outside of the house. I am actually looking forward to doing a load of laundry!
