Spa Express and Derek are amazing. If you want personal, friendly, expert, and thorough customer service with out being pressured then this is the place because Derek is your guy. Derek was patient and super helpful with the selection of our new spa, it’s delivery, and was also helpful with information/​resources for the concrete slab and electrician work that needed to be done before the spa’s arrival. If there was a 6 star rating, he would have earned it easily. There are so many personal touches that we experienced in this process that confirms that we selected the right company for the purchase and ongoing questions/​service that I know we will be long time Marin county customers of Spa Express. Stop searching, you have found the best option for your purchase so drive right past those other bigger shops. Seriously.

I needed to replace a worn out tub, and after being hugely disappointed by Creative Energy’s lack of responsiveness, I found Spa Express. What a refreshing business. Derek came to my house 2 days after I called, did a site assessment, gave me a quote for the tub and delivery, and everything from then on moved like clockwork. Thanks to Derek for taking the time to resurrect my 1980’s spa with a new timer and control panel that is more energy efficient. He took extra time to make it all work. I am sure other spa people would just say «get a new spa». + he had to deal with coming back because of a manufacturer defect — he took care of it promptly.

We have been really happy with Spa Express for the regular maintenance of our hot tub. They take grate care of the tub and do a monthly cleaning and balancing of chemicals. On their first visit when they noticed we had small kids and were not going to be using the tub heavily they suggested we switch from chlorine to bromine which would be less harsh on the kids and less of an overall chemical smell. It’s that kind of attention not just to our hot tub but our overall needs and experience which makes me highly recommend Spa Express. They are going to be taking care of our tub going forward.

I came to Spa Express about 2 months ago looking while doing research to find a hot tub. Derek and Michelle were both very friendly and knowledgeable. They understood my limited budget and quickly located a slightly used top brand tub that exactly suited my needs. They arranged to have it installed, and even came out personally to check on it. When a minor issue surfaced, they had it serviced free. Derek even gave us a bunch of great products free to get us started. I couldn’t be happier. The tub is exactly what I wanted at the right price. Much appreciated!

Derek and Michael (our servie man) are professional knowledgable and honest people.
It IS service with a smile and a calm demeanor. They helped us with an older leaking tub. They helped us figure out going from manual controls to digital controls when we updated our motor and pump. Derek took what ever time I needed, on the phone, to help me whenever.

We had to replace a very old hot tub/​spa in an existing deck and found ourselves wandering from one spa storefront to another in Marin County. We finally found Derek and Spa Express through the excellent reviews on Unilocal and his ad on Craigslist. We needed a round 72 inch spa and he had three available. We took the ride to Cotati and found a perfect match for what we were looking for. Derek arranged for a contractor, spa delivery, and setup to insure that the installation would be perfect. Both the contractor and delivery company were excellent and delivered as promised. We are very happy with Spa Express and the excellent follow through by Derek.

Excellent experience with Spa Express with Derek and the team!
I was out of town when my existing hot tub needed replaced. Derek took care of it all. Drained and removed the existing tub; delivered and setup the new one.
He was knowledgable, professional and friendly. He went the extra mile to make it all happen in a timely manner. Even after the sale, I had a bunch of questions that he spent time on to ensure I had the right understanding.
I’m very satisfied with my overall experience. I would/​will use him again in the future for my Spa needs. You should give him a shot also; you won’t be disappointed.

Let’s see. Derek sold us our hot tub 28+ years ago and recently rebuilt it to like new.

Derek went above and beyond to help us get our first spa.
He stayed after hours on a Sunday so we could look at a few different spas and then answered all of our questions so we got the spa that was right for us. He was also able to get it delivered to us the next day.
We’ve used the spa just about everyday since we got it, so it more than paid off to work with someone that knows the business and what spas work for their customers.
We got a great deal and Derek has been awesome to work with. I’m glad we took the trip up to Cotati to get our spa.

Many years after Spa Express us a hot tub, we had a solar company tie the tub into our domestic solar hot water system. The solar company used improper fittings that rapidly corroded, failed & dumped all the water onto the tub motor. That, together with years of a rat wintering in the insulation surrounding the tub, called for replacement. We went back to Derek, owner of Spa Express, & downsized to a 200 gal. tub manufactured by LA Spas, which now comes with a rodent-​proof metal pan that should keep the critter out.
Unfortunately & perhaps stupidly we had the same solar company redo it’s solar loop, this time using marine brass fittings. But they attached the temperature sensor in a place where it could not read the true water temperature properly & would let the tub reach 112 degrees on full-​sun days, which sent the tub into overheat mode & disabled the pump. When we asked Derek to take over that part of the job, he redesigned the hookup of the solar hoses & put the temperature sensor inside the tub, where the controller for the solar loop gets an accurate reading & shuts off the heat inflow at a therapeutic but still bearable 106.
It took some trial & error but Derek & his associate Al ultimately got this complicated installation right, plus the tub he sold us is really attractive & seems well made. Besides striking me as a nice guy with a good product, I find Derek responsive to customer concerns & good about returning calls & e-​mails.

My partner and I recently purchased a house in Guerneville which we are renting out as a vacation rental. One of the conditions of renting in this area, is that we instal a hot tub, which we knew nothing about and really couldn’t stretch our budget to buying a new one. I called into Spa Express and got a fantastic reconditioned six person spa which Derek held for us until we were ready for installation. Derek arranged for delivery and an electrician to set it all up. Thank you for your help and we would certainly recommend spa express to friends in the future.

Spa Express gets a rave review. My husband and I had a great experience from start to finish. It was great to find Derek after being disappointed by the spa offerings and the sales staff at several other showrooms closer to our home in Berkeley. Derek provided great advice and suggested a spa (by LA Spas) we had not seen or been told about anywhere else. It was exactly what we wanted, size, features, shape, everything, and we had almost given up. Although he didn’t have that model (the Ibiza ES) on hand, he volunteered to order one without obligation so we could see it and try it out filled before making a decision. We bought it, but when our construction project was unexpectedly delayed several times, Derek patiently stored the tub for us. He’s been responsive to all our needs and questions, both before and after delivery. He did everything promised. Even if you don’t live near Cotati, Spa Express is worth the drive.

We’ve worked w/​Spa Express for 7+ yrs… for normal maintenance and cleaning. When we upgraded our tub, it was a complicated installation. We were using some existing equipment, which had to be tied in to the new Spa. plus an add’l motor. When some initial issues popped up as a result… Derek was right on top of it. With only a few days until guests arrived… he made sure that everything was working properly before they showed up!
He has always gone the extra mile to be sure that we were fully satisfied! We are happy to recommend Spa Express to anyone thinking about a new Spa… or maintaining an existing one.

Spa Express is definitely one of the best spa places in Sonoma County. Cheap, family friendly, fast, efficient, these guys do it all. When I originally went to Spa Express, I wasn’t expecting very much; however the staff was knowledgeable and was able to explain to me long term and short term costs, tub types, and what would be the best tub for me and my family overall. The owner personally walked me through the differences between ozone and chemical filtration, as well as what would be best chemical wise for my spa.
When I had decided on the spa, it was shipped to my house with some professional movers which went off without a hitch. It was installed and the whole process was very quick, and I was able to use my tub the next day.
I highly recommend Spa Express for anything hot tub related!

The owner personally guided me through the buying process and set everything up from delivery to service calls. Real small business care and service that listens. The prices were great too, all the other places I looked were more expensive and not as helpful.

I’ve noticed that people don’t use Unilocal very much for home services and contractors in Santa Rosa. So if you’re from SF and want to find help, here’s a great hot tub repair service you can use.
The Spa Express guys were able to help me out before a busy holiday weekend, actually, ON the weekend of Labor Day. They do a great job, communicate, send invoices and take care of business.
This is really important, especially when you have a rental and the hot tub has got to work. I know this sounds like a fake review, but I swear, it’s just the reflections of a grateful long-​distance homeowner.
They also really stand behind their work. After spending a considerable amount on a new heater/​control set for our brand new (!) hot tub, (and after two brand new factory control units melted down), they came back to follow up when it wasn’t working as it should. If there is more work to be done, I’ve found them to be reasonable in their prices.
Hot tubs are known to break down, especially after a few years. When it counts, I’d call Spa Express in a heartbeat. Ask for Derek.
