This is a mom & pop shop, with good prices. It has a feel of a shop of retired folk, peaceful and simple living, just passing the time doing it more as a hobby than a business. They have a decent variety/selection of plants. When I arrived, the gate was open, with a 20% off sale sign. Just inside the gate the plants seem to be updated. As you continue walking in to the areas with the display tables, some are labeled, but not all. I went in the middle of winter, so the deciduous trees were completely barren, looking like twigs, and you can’t tell at all what trees/plants they are. However, I think in the summer it would look quite nice. There are some nicer bonsai and Japanese maples, in the $ 100’s range. There is an area towards the front with what looks like older junipers/bonsai, and maybe bamboo. There is a covered area with a very faded sign with barely visible lettering«Shade plants.» Like the first reviewer said, this place has seen better, more well-maintained days. However, that’s cosmetic. I’d wandered around outside for almost half an hour just taking my time, looking, not seeing anyone else around. I could hear noise coming from the shack, but I hadn’t gone in. I assumed there were a couple of people in there talking. Finally I decided on a juniper to be my first bonsai, and walked into the shack. To my left I could see there was a TV on, and a man sleeping in a chair in front of it. As I put the juniper on the counter, he awoke and walked on over. The prices labeled were not including the 20% discount to my surprise. His juniper’s are $ 7.95, which I think was a good deal itself, and after another 20% discount, was a steal! I’m sad I didn’t notice where the bonsai pottery was. I think I was a little uncomfortable wandering around the shack. I felt like I was entering someone’s home while they were napping and didn’t want to bother them too long. If this was closer to my home, I’d certainly be coming here more often. If I’m in the area again, I’ll definitely stop by and looking forward to it.

charming little place. it was opened several decades ago and is currently maintained by Sumigawa’s daughter in Law.(he passed away) Her service actually deserves 5 stars. The inventory was pretty good considering she’s running this large place all alone. I noticed that mostly all of the tree material is old(in a good way) with many evergreens. it’s a real challenge to maintain my own bonsai, let alone manage an entire nursery alone. So, if you’re in the area and are looking for good pine or juniper material, this place is worth a look. The old woodwork is very charming only it appears to be pretty old, meaning it could use a good work over. I’ll continue to support her and hope she can gain more business. Give them a try!
