My first visit here was on a Thursday evening about 6PM. I was in town for a conference and this restaurant was close to my hotel. Glancing around when I walked in, the place feels open and looks clean. I was quickly greater and seated. I ordered the guacamole and veggie fajitas with rice and beans. The guacamole seemed to be made on site and was okay — just basic spices and onions with avocados. At first, the fajita«fixings» seemed scarce on the rice and beans, but it proved to be plenty when combined with the fajitas. One of those times when«my eyes are bigger than my stomach». Anyway, the food was all good and my server was attentive throughout. With the lack of food diversity in the area, this is certainly a good option.

Finding a better Mexican restaurant than Mi Toro(Corinth MS) is always on the agenda when we are in other towns. This restaurant was no disappointment. I’m partial to the Chile Relleno, beans and rice at any Mexican restaurant. The lunch dishes we ordered were very filling and hot. My Relleno was better than the ones I get at Mi Toro. I was doubtful at the first sight of the pepper. It was flat and plain looking as if there weren’t any cheese inside. The white cheese shredded on top had a very creamy texture and the pepper was spicy and so full of flavor. The real kicker to this was the batter used on the pepper was weird, in a good way, you can feel the air bubbles bursting in your mouth as you chewed. This never happened to me at Mi Toro. My dish stated on the menu it is served with guacamole sauce and I hadn’t seen that at any other Mexican restaurant. It was a shredded lettuce salad with a tomato slice and guacamole on top of the salad. The guacamole was very good and had chunks of avacodo, much beter than the other paste-like versions I’ve gotten at other places. Overall, a very pleasant meal and dining experience. It’s a 23 mile one-way trip, so it isn’t a place we will be dropping by often, but when we are in the area and in the mood for Mexican, this is IT!

Three S’s, slow, salty and saucey. The quasidilla was cold and the tamale was drowned in a bland tomato sauce. Sadly they even messed up the beer. My first Dos Equis amber had a lime in it but was missing a glass. My second still had the lime and instead of a glass a iced up mug. At least I didn’t drink the water, because I wasn’t offered any. Good value… well the prices are low. Friendly service.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food of this Mexican restaurant in Counce, TN. I will be honest, dining options that are not bbq or fried catfish or standard fried fare are hard to find in the area and a lot of places that try to be different do not last, so I am happy Nuevo Vallarta is in Pickwick and that it is very good. I have yet to be disappointed in any of the dishes I have tried and I love that I can get a Patron frozen margarita for a decent price. If you like Mexican and are in the Pickwick area then I highly recommend dining here!

I didn’t expect to find good Mexican food in Southern Tennessee, and though I wouldn’t consider this great, it will get you through. This is not authentic, and a little too greasy. Swing and a miss on the rice. I don’t mean to be negative, certainly all of the components are there, just not to the standard we get at home. Lastly, clean your nasty bathroom.

I was really surprised the food here was actually good. We went here late one night after being on the lake all day… as I am sure most people do. I had the beef tacos and Chris had the beef nachos. I have to say we both enjoyed out food… it is not the best mexica food you will ever eat though. The service was great we went here 2 times in a weekend… about all that is open in this small town after 9. We had the same waiter both times and he was really great. We will definitely go back this summer during our lake weekends.

Sat on patio. Waiters forgot two of four orders. When he did get the food to the table. The salads were wrong. Finding Shrimp in a beef salad is not a good thing. Had to ask for bill. The place is clean and there were many families enjoying the place. Drinks were good. our visit was during the middle of the week so waiters may have needed more experience, who knows!!! Friends had okay food. It is a lovely area close to Pickwick. Chips, salsa and drinks were enjoyed.

I like authentic Mexican food. I’m not a fan of Americanized Mexican, unless it’s really good Tex Mex. I had a really good experience here, because the food reminded me of true Mexican flavors I had in Mexico City. I ordered the Molcajete, which was the special of the night. Wow! I was stunned with the presentation when it came out. Not at all what I was expecting in Counce, TN. The shrimp, beef, chicken, tomatoes, and cactus leaves were all really good, but the caramelized onions set the dish off with an amazingly rich flavor. I’m not familiar with Chihuahua cheese, but I think that is what was combining with the onions to make for the richness in the dish. And, this outstanding dish was only $ 10!

Fairly new Mexican restaurant located very close to Pickwick. The décor is plain with a few pictures on the wall, large dining area. We came here twice once for lunch and once for dinner. They have great lunch specials for under $ 7. Typical Mexican American food, burritos, Carne Asada, Taquito’s, taco’s, etc… They have a beer and liquor license. I would not recommend their Margarita’s, unless you like very sweet with barely any alcohol, this was a bummer. Someone needs to show them how to properly make a good Margarita. They had the very best Taquito’s ever. I ordered the Beef Taquito’s which came with rice and beans for under $ 10 for dinner, brother had a special pork dish that he loved and sister in law chose Quesadilla’s. All of the food was good especially my dish. The chips and salsa were light and crispy and the salsa was a tad spicy and delish. The Taquito’s were a soft golden brown, great flavor of pulled beef, cooked perfect. The service is scarce, sometimes they are refilling your drinks other times they just ignore you. All in all a good inexpensive restaurant that yes I would come back to, just not for drinks.
