Meh, service is never good. Doesn’t seem like anyone that works there is happy. Prices are high and returns have stipulations, ie can’t return sale items or holiday items. Store is kind of dank, like shopping in a warehouse. Just not a pleasant experience overall.

I just started going to(any) Joann Fabrics a couple of weeks ago when I found out they sell Wilton products. I signed up for email alerts in hopes to get special discounts once in a while. To my happy surprise, I received a text… 60% off one full price item. Such a deal! I went back, excited to get something wonderful, even though I didn’t know what it was going to be yet. After searching and searching the entire Wilton section, I found nothing that wasn’t already on sale at 25% off. That’s a 35% difference and it really disappointed me so much! Then, I decided to walk around the store to see what, if any, good deal I could find, only to realize the entire STORE(or at least everywhere I looked before finally giving up) seemed to be on sale for 25% off. So, it appears that they sent their customers a text with an AWESOME discount, only to ENTICE them into their store to spend money. I didn’t fall for it but it makes me sad that they think of their customers as stupid or «suckers» so to speak. I won’t be going back and I will, when I figure it out, ask to be removed from their mailing and text list.

I’ve been shopping at this JoAnn’s for over twenty years. and now, I will be going somewhere else(Hobby Lobby, etc) for my craft materials. Let me tell you why. On Wednesday early afternoon I was there to buy 6 inches of felt. Tammy, the woman at the cutting table took her time about working with the woman ahead of me; who by the way, only bought a yard each of two fabrics and a pair of scissors. This patron could not make up her mind about how much fabric she needed or what type of scissors, so Tammy basically catered to her while the rest of us stood there sweating in our winter coats. After fifteen minutes, Tammy calls for backup and nobody comes. After twenty minutes she takes on another customer who was off to the side(no number) and walks off with her to help her decide what fabric she needs for her project. After another ten minutes, and no help, I took off without my six inches of felt! I called the manager, Sue, who nonchalantly informed me that they are doing their best. I’m sorry but waiting half an hour and still no service or even an acknowledgement that you will be helped, is unacceptable. And Sue was completely oblivious to the fact that she will be losing customers. Oh well, Hobby Lobby here I come!

I took a basic sewing class here a couple of weeks ago and loved it! Colette was our teacher and she did a great job. Most of us there had no idea where to even start and she patiently explained everything. We ended up making a cute little bag instead of just talking about the sewing machine like they do in other classes which was so much more fun. I will definitely take another class here, but will make sure to call ahead to see if Colette is the instructor!

I had my daughters Birthday party here & that was a big mistake. They shouldn’t offer parties here, they have no clue on how to keep the kids entertained. Plus they expect the kids to be quiet because of the customers in the store. There party room is soooo small & they don’t have a door. Their website is very misleading about party package!!!

Oh my, this store is overwhelmingly huge. I was just looking for a simple latchhook and I was blown away by the selection of all the fabric. They certainly have the market cornered since nothing in the area compares.

Every single time I go into this place its the same story… 2 ½ hours on Black Friday to get fabric cut. I was up for 24 hours when I went in and had other places to go after that. i missed out on other sales. 3 people cutting fabric. when there are places where at least 3 more tables they could have used and many more employees that could have done the cutting. Cash registers crashed after waiting another 30 minutes in line. Finally got out after a little after 3 hours total.

I came here on a Saturday afternoon to pick up a few things for a Halloween recipe. It was packed. There was a huge line at the fabric counter and the line at the cash registers was even longer. I saw a some people drop off their few items because they didn’t want to stand in line. They only had three registers open but the line was moving fairly quickly. Their prices are a little expensive but when they have a sale, items are usually marked down by 30−40% so come here for the sales!

I have been to this store so many times, and each time I think the service will improve. It seems only to get worse. It’s really too bad, as there is a decent selection of fabrics. Certainly not what one would find at Vogue in Evanston or Fishman’s downtown, but it will suffice. Any time I have been at this Jo-Ann location, there is at most one person working at the cutting table. Often, I have to flag someone down to help me, and I get the impression she doesn’t want to be bothered. Lines at check-out are usually long, and none of the cashiers seem to be able to get on the intercom to call for extra help. The straw that broke the camel’s back was when I’d found a fabric remnant, and carried it to the checkout counter. When it was finally my turn with the sullen cashier, she told me I wouldn’t be able to buy the remnant(a marked, bundled, priced piece of fabric) until I took it back to the cutting table so they could measure it. WHAT? Needless to say, I set the sorry thing down in front of her, and walked out. Never again, Jo-Ann, never again.

This place has a very large selection of items to choose from. I was impressed with their scrapbooking section and the prices seemed pretty on point. The people working were friendly and helpful. I am not big into crafts much but was able to find what I needed!

Even though this place is a bit far I prefer it over the Hancock’s just a couple miles away. This store is large and has a good selection. Lots of fabrics, craft items and yarns. I’ve only been here twice so far, and it’s never been crowded. It is a bit hard to find an emplyee if you have a question though — but so far that’s my only complaint.

Those that know me– know that I don’t have a lot of time…although somewhere back in time I learned how to sew and to create things with fabric. So while Jo-Ann Fabrics is not a regular stop of mine– when I am in need of something and can’t find what I want at a department store, I will swing buy– purchase some fabric and create whatever it is I can’t find from scratch. I love this Jo-Ann Fabrics as it is huge and has more fabric than most around. They also carry a complete selection of other things you might need– sewing kits, patterns, scented pine cones, potpourri, home crafts, etc. The women who work at the cutting table are knowledgeable and helpful in suggesting alternatives if you cannot find what you want. They throw those bolts of fabric around like the pros they are,” thump, thump, thump” as they un wind the fabric and with a few quick snips– I am on my way to fashion creation be it for a Halloween costume, home improvement project or repair job. I also like the remnant bucket. Various sized pieces of fabric that could be perfect for that next project that cost any where from 50 cents to $ 10. Can’t beat that! I rarely have time to sew anymore– but when I do, Jo-Ann Fabrics is my first and last stop. Hmm. .. now I wonder what I can create with this little leftover piece of fabric?

I gave this store four stars because of it’s size and selection of fabrics. It’s AMAZING! The prices are wonderful when the items are on sale. Even if they aren’t there is almost always a 40% off coupon for a regular priced item in the weekly paper or on-line. If your running short on time and find yourself in a spot where you can’t find where you put your coupon, then don’t bother going here. Unlike other stores I’ve been to this place will not give you a coupon. Even if they have the coupon code. Then again I think they know they don’t have to give it to the customer because the closest Joann Fabrics besides it is like 35 minutes away. Although, it would be nice if they helped their customers once in a while. Other then that the customer service is ok. They at times can come off and be quite standoffish and hard to approach. At times I felt like asking them to help me was almost to much for them. So my advice is: If your looking for a great a variety of fabrics and have coupons go here. If not hold off till you get coupons.
