This the worst antiques store I’ve ever been, looks like a bunch of insanely overpriced trash piled together and a LOT of non-antique items mixed with antiques. Worst of all there is no heating whatsoever inside the store. Save your time and avoid this place.

I have purchased several gems from them over the years. Happily they are located between my house and my cabin so I get to stop in often. Sometimes I just browse but normally I find something great. The owners get busy and can be a little quirky but when you have their attention they couldn’t be more pleasant. The prices are fair and they are willing to negotiate on most pieces or have sales on occasion. There is a LOT of merchandise in the store so I assume they have whatever you might be looking for. Recently I found myself in need of some lamps for my cabin… Let me tell you, if there is a circle of hell that Dante left out, it is lamp shopping! What a chafe… Lamps are either hideous, too tall, too short, too expansive, too fancy or have either no shades or shades you wouldn’t house break your pet with. In my most recent stop by Covesville, they had just the thing. Two in fact. It’s a great place and I highly recommend it.

I’ve shopped at most of the shops in virginia and this is one of the best. The prices are great to begin with and the more you purchase the cheaper it is. Everytime I’m in the area i’ll drive up to 50 miles out of my way to drop in. They always go out of their way to help me and always have new inventory.

Not pleased whatsoever. I attempted to work with this store in the purchase of an antique table, but found the owners disagreeable and terse in their response to my inquiries to the extent that I would not deal with them even if they had a mint and genuine Philadelphia highboy for sale at $ 100. What one might save in reasonable prices is completely lost in the company’s substandard and off disconcerting customer relations. As well, I question their level of expertise after my poor experience.

I recently visited this store on a very wet and rainy day following a two and half hour drive from home. I purchased a rope bed which was disassembled. A member of the staff left the impression that the bed could be returned within in seven days if I was not satisfied with it. After returning home I tried several times to assemble it without success not being able to get the tenons of the side rails to go into the mortises of the head and foot boards. I return the bed within the week but was then informed by the owners that they would not accept return of the bed. They informed me that the return policy only applies to items bought online and not directly from the store. I informed them that due to the rainy weather that day I had to wait until after returning home to try to assemble it. I also informed them that I have owned several rope beds and had never experienced such difficulty in trying to assemble one. They insisted there was nothing wrong with the bed and then proceeded to attempt to assemble it by pounding the end boards into the rails with a log from their woodpile. They were unsuccessful in assembling the bed and said the most they could offer was to sell the bed for me on consignment less a 25% commission. At that point I had no faith or trust in what they told me and decided to leave with the bed and never do business with them again. I find it strange that a supposedly reputable dealer will allow you to return an item which you have inspected at the store only if you bought it online initially. I have been buying antique furniture for 30 years on both the East Coast and Midwest and rarely have seen such customer unfriendly service.

This place is fantastic! Great selection and great prices. They carry a huge range of antiques from primitives to high end pieces that are from the late 1700’s through early 1900’s. Art, glasswear, lighting, furniture. The prices are less than ½ of what you would pay in DC or Richmond. The web site is great– with new inventory being added once or twice a week. The only bad thing is that with their low prices, the items sell quickly– if you are interested in it, then buy it. Rarely do things stay in the shop for more than a week or two. Rick and Sara, the owners, are incredible people. They are not snootly antique dealers. These are real people– friendly, honest, fair. The other staff is just as wonderful. I make the 2 hour drive(so 4 hrs round trip) several times a year. Once I had to drive into Charlottesville to rent a U-Haul to rent a trailer to transport everything I bought. I intended to get just a few things but the selection and prices were just too good. You have to visit often. They may not meet everyone’s style but all in all, you can not beat the selection, prices, and friendliness. BTW, I am a serious collector. I’ve referred many people to shop here and everyone has been very happy.
