Tried to find good Hawaiian food around the West Covina area. Been to Oahu several times & you can’t compare w/the plate lunches there. But so happy to find this place. Decent food. Wouldn’t say it’s authentic Hawaiian style, but really well made. Called in an order of chicken katsu, Hawaiian stir fried noodles, Hawaiian bbq plate, spam Musubi & extra Mac salad.. I drove all the way from west co. Food was ready to go, nice man helped us. Took it home & everything was delicious. Would drive 6 miles again to get this food. This is my go to Hawaiian place now in my area.

Place was pretty solid when it comes to their Chicken Katsu and macaroni salad side. This place is def like other Hawaiian spots so do not expect much difference. Regardless, the food is pretty good.

This place serves up great food at affordable prices. The owners are very friendly. Plenty of parking. I suggest getting the Spam Musubi.

So this little Hawaiian BBQ joint sits in the lot that Superior and the Hibachi Grill are in, right next to the Wing Stop and a smoke shop. First of all, this isn’t a sit down place unless you’re a table for two, or three, because there’s only about 3 – 4 tables there, and it’s not gonna be very fatboy friendly if you and your homies are of the«BBW» body type. I’m a big boy, but the wife and kids aren’t, and we were a little cramped at the table when we chose to try this place and dine in. Second, which really should have been the first thing, the service is awesome! It was a couple, and they were all smiles. The man’s smile was bigger, and his English was better, but they both attended to us with a genuine desire to make sure that we were good to go, and I appreciate their willingness to be great hosts while we tried their establishment. Third, and I’m just gonna go totally cheesy here, da kine grindz here were ONOLISCIOUS!!! We decided to get this family special for $ 30, which according to the menu, serves 4. Maybe four big giant Samoan football players!!! Not complaining at all, rather, I’d say I was shocked/impressed/happy that there was enough food for my family of 4 to pretty much pig out AND still have some leftover to take for us to brown bag the next day! So, the«white» rice was nice and sticky and slightly sweet. My personal opinion about the mac salad was that it could give L&L a run for it’s money, and definitely better than the Rainbow Drive-In in Waikiki! The BBQ beef was tasty, but I felt that it was cut a little too small for my taste. I would have preferred bigger pieces, as opposed to what was basically cut like taco meat that you’d get in a real street taco. The both the teriyaki chicken and katsu were very well executed, but the breading on the katsu didn’t have much flavor on its own. With the sauce it was good to go though. The Hawaiian stir fry was VERY tasty and the consensus favorite of the evening. The spam musubi was probably one of the best I’ve had around these parts, but the fatty in my would have liked the spam to be a little thicker than what was in mine. For me, what made the musubi so tasty was that it tasted to me like they might have put the musubi on the grill for a quick second or two because there was a slight discoloration in the seaweed, and it tasted«toasty», which to me, was the perfect finishing touch. Overall, should we ever be in the area, I’d come back here again.

Friendly owners & the portions are big! This is only my 3rd time here, but I’ll definitely be making myself a regular here. I’ve tried the Spicy BBQ Beef, the Hawaiian BBQ Beef, and now the Chicken Katsu! All are great, plus they have different portion sizes. You can get a «mini» plate(which isn’t mini at all) for under $ 6! Highly recommended!

I had an urge for some Hawaiian bbq and I ran into this location. As I walked in I found the surroundings interesting, it was clean, friendly environment, and with a cozy touch for a fast food place. This is not a franchise but you can tell their objective is quality. Although I wanted bbq I opted for the Hawaiian fried rice. The portion is big and packed with a great taste. I would certainly come back again and recommended it to my family and friends. It’s places like this that make you want to take risks by trying new spots.

Not a fan. First, the cashier messed up my order which probably screwed everything up because I felt she was trying to get over on me. Secondly, the mac salad had way too much mayo in it — disgusting. I had the loco moco and while the presentation almost made me throw my plate in the trash, I decided to give it a try and it wasn’t terrible. My family wasn’t a fan of the chicken katsu or short ribs. We’ve experienced better and won’t be returning

Wow, this place is great! Their chicken katsu is SO crispy(even after I pour the sauce on it). Their mac salad is so creamy and delicious. Egg rolls are great! Love the stickyness of the rice! My husband liked the gravy for the chicken katsu. They are very friendly and the food was fresh and hot when we got home. Nice and close to home! We will definitely be regulars! You totally get your moneys worth. :)

Do NOT get Loco Moco. I ate it and on the way back home feeling ill. Straight to the bathroom and everything went to the ocean… As I am writing this, I am feeling like I am going to puke again…

This is our favorite place for Hawaiian food!!! My husband and I go here at least once a week. They always give generous proportions and the food is great. Our favorites are the chicken katsu, Hawaiian bbq chicken and spam masubi. The staff here is always so nice and polite as well.

Living in Azusa and having gone to Hawaii more quite a few times throughout life, I thought it was going to be a struggle finding a good Hawaiian place around here. Well this place didn’t disappoint. The chicken katsu is VERY on point and they give you a lot! The BBQ beef was good but had more of a Chinese taste to it, but like I said it was good! Have been back a few times and will keep going! Excited to try more things here. People working there are also very kind! Good tasting and filling meal!

Everything here is delicious No matter what you order, you can’t go wrong. Everything is cooked in perfection. The service is wonderful. They are very friendly. My two favorite here would be the Chicken Katsu Misubi and the Bbq Short Rib. 10⁄10

I enjoy going to small restaurants like this one and support them. This place is located in the plaza with Hibachi Super Buffet and Superior. Its towards the back at a corner of the plaza so it could be hard to see. Inside definitely has a Hawaiian vibe, but I wish it was a little bit brighter. Dining area 6 or 7 tables and the restrooms are clean. Their menu consists of typical Hawaiian restaurant items such as masubis, ribs, chicken, beef, loco moco, and Kalua pork. I decided to get a BBQ mix(ribs, chicken and beef) and a Hawaiian fried rice. The portions are pretty big here, and you get your money’s worth. The marinade on the meat tasty pretty good and the addition of the teriyaki sauce is a must. The Hawaiian fried rice was pretty good, and came with chicken and shrimp. If it’s your first time trying this place, I suggest getting those two items. The service here is pretty good. The owners are friendly and kind. They cook to order and got my order done fairly quickly. If you’re looking for something different around this area, then you should definitely give this place a try!

I normally come here on my lunch breaks from work. It’s been my «go to» place for lunch since they opened. The staff are really kind and generous and the place itself is really clean and newly decorated. I normally order a Mini Chicken Katsu with Gravy and a couple Spam Masubis. Aside from being delicious all the time the portions are pretty generous and the prices are pretty good. I always leave full, happy, and satisfied. Keep up the good work! Be back again soon.

I like coming to new openings of Hawaiian Food joints and came her looking for a Hawaiian place to just chill and enjoy something local and see what all these reviewers were talking about and I have to say… I won’t be coming back to this place… I ordered the BBQ mix and I’m not impressed… disgusted is the word. The seasoning on the chicken and beef was too salty… Didn’t bother adding teriyaki sauce. The beef had an unfamiliar taste and smell to it that I decided to pass on continuing to eat it. The first pic I took is exactly where I stopped eating and chucked it in the trash. Parts of the BBQ chicken was cooked in the same area where the beef was cooked and passed on those parts of the chicken. The texture of the beef and chicken was just rubbery. The macaroni salad lacked flavoring of salt and pepper which is the only thing that wasn’t salty along with the rice. I could over look the interior deco being cheap but don’t go cheap on the quality of the food. I agree that anyone can open a Hawaiian joint and not be Hawaiian. But if you’re going to venture into a cultural food. Go with quality. Quality will always win the customers decision to take their families and friends to. No friends, family, or me coming here. It looks like a mom and pop shop… And I’d love to support a local fav Hawaiian joint but this doesn’t cut it. I don’t endorse anyone but if you want quality and if you plan on opening a Hawaiian foods restaurant, check out Brody’s in West Covina, I believe. Took my daughters there and we had a fulfilling dinner. The only draw back of Brody’s.(Not about their foods) they have no AC. So expect some perspiration while you eat. Final words: «Eat satisfied, or chuck it» Laki Hawaiian Foods verdict: «Chuck It».

I have been looking for a local Hawaiian BBQ place, since the quality and atmosphere at L & L in West Covina has been going down hill… Laki’s may be a bit hard to find, as it is not easily visible from Citrus Avenue. If you go past the Auto Zone to the back corner of the center, it is next to a smoke shop and across from the Laundermat. To the food! I ordered the BBQ mix to get a feel for what may be good(chicken, pork or beef). The container must have weighed over a pound! And the rice, not just a few mini-scoops like other places, but about a third of the take out container was rice and some macaroni salad! I also got a shrimp fried rice for lunch at work, at least 7 good sized shrimps and once again the container bursting with fried rice. I will be back, with friends! Very generous portions, nice people behind the counter(owners I think), and I was given a flyer with coupons for next order: 1) 10% off any order, 2) 99 cent Spam Musube, 3) 99 cent egg roll(2), 4) 3.99 Monday/Tuesday Special Hawaiian Chicken Bowl, 5) Free drink with any Regular Plate, 6) 10% off a party tray. The other side of the flyer lists popular menu items.

Michael and his wife Jasmine, whom I’ve come to know, are very warm friendly and cook deliciously. I’ve been going here since their grand opening. – side note: I discovered them by returning to my favorite Chinese take-out that used to be here and sadly discovered it had closed. Happily Laki Hawaiian BBQ is very good food and service.
