We’ve eaten here several times, and each has been a winner. My all time fav is the catrachitas $ 5.50. Today we had the honduran chicken $ 3(which was authentic, but average, the filling was heavy on masa, with few potatoes and only 1 olive). However, I ordered the Tajada con carne molida.$ 8.50 It is plantains topped with ground beef & potatoes in gravy, topped with cabbage, shredded chicken, salsa, pickled jalapeño, pickled onions, and fresca cheese. OMG — the layers of flavor — ABSOLUTELY delicious !!! Local, family owned, on the street behind Home Depot. Very reasonable prices. Good service. All dishes are made from scratch. Good for families or singles. Lots of TVs — usually tuned to soccer. They also serve BREAKFAST and make tripe soup on weekends.

I’ve gotten several dishes here and they have all been excellent. The Chuleta Frita(fried pork chop) was the best pork chop I have had in my life. The Pastelitos Hondureños(beef empanadas) were amazing and a great deal for how much food you get. The fried chicken is wonderful; crispy, crunchy, and well seasoned. On top of good food, the service is friendly and attentive. I can’t wait to go back and try more dishes.

Really, I have no idea why this place is rated so highly unless the owners friends are doing the rating. Food was just ok and frankly fairly bland. I asked the wait staff if she recommended the pork or chicken tamale because we wanted to try it. I told her that our table wanted to try it. She said pork and then I said we’d go with her recommendation and I asked how many tamales were in an order for $ 3 and she said one, so I ordered three. We ordered our meals at the same time as the tamales, so there was no confusion on her part that we were just ordering tamales. The tamales are big and for us all to try it, we could have easily ordered one to share but she didn’t mention that. She asked if we wanted the tamales out first and we said yes. Tamales were delivered and not two minutes later came the rest of the food. As for the food, the pork tamale(S!) were fine. The pork on the inside is a hunk of pork, not shredded but it falls apart easily. I’d have liked mine better except the pork was cold in the middle. Surrounding cornmeal is thick but tasty. There were three of us at lunch and we ordered the Mexican Tacos, the Honduran Tacos and the Cuban Sandwich. Cuban Sandwich was good. Served without fries. Mexican Tacos were not bad, almost good but not enough to order them again. The green sauce that came with them was very tasty. They were generous with the cilantro and the onion. The Honduran Tacos were good, but the ratio of chicken to fried tortilla was off. The person who had this had a few bites then unrolled it to get to the chicken. Overall, worth a try maybe if you have to but there is too much good food in this area to waste a meal here.

Teenage girls were tired and cranky. Thank goodness we used Unilocal!Found this place super close to the hotel and based on the reviews decided to try. It was OUTSTANDING food! Get the tamales(pork) — they are different than the Mexican variety and large. Best $ 3 spent ever! We also had some type of fried meat pie with ground beef in it. This was my order and my daughter insisted I put it i the middle of the table and everyone tried it– vanished in seconds! One daughter ordered a chicken dish that appeared to be a pan fried breast that was seasoned exceptionally well and she adored it. My other daughter ordered a salad that came out steaming from the freshly prepared egg and bacon, and she loved it. My husband got the fried chicken– it was good, but he regretted not ordering something more authentically Honduran from the menu given how delicious everything was. We also had an order of what appeared to be tostadas and they were terrific too. Overall, freshly prepared food that was seasoned amazingly well and nicely presented. The restaurant is located in a strip mall behind a Home Depot. The place was surprisingly decorated, modern, super clean, etc and not something you would expect in a strip mall. The waitress spoke only a little English, so we ended up pointing a bit to the menu for our order. The only caveat is that the food came out in shifts, instead of grouped together like a typical restaurant. We didn’t mind this at all as we all ended up eating each dish to try anyway, and it ensured everything was fresh off the grill or fryer. We truly wish this place was near where we live back home! I did see a different review that mentioned it was very slow and that at the time the place was about ¾ full. When we were there we were the only customers, but perhaps if busier service could be an issue? Prices were extremely reasonable for the quality of food served. Most everything is $ 10 or less. Give this place a try– you won’t regret it!

This is a very clean and very quiet place in an uassuming shopping strip on the North Shore. My boyfriend ordered the enchiladas, which came on two, small round homemade tortillas. Not what we expected enchilidas to look like but they were very good, had a tex-mex flavor and piled high with cabbage and chimichurra sauce. I had the Cuban sandwich, which was close, but not the traditional Cuban sandwich I am used to. It had the pork, ham, pickle, provolone and crispy bread but it was very dry… once I added some mustard to it, it was good. Dinner for two was just $ 20 and we didn’t have to wait long at all for it. It was our first experience with Honduran food. We liked it enough to return another time and try out some other things on their menu. Their breakfast looks good. They also serve natural drinks llike Horchata, a rice drink, and a cashew drink. Cabbage, yuca and plaintain based recipes are predominate on the menu. I also noticed fried chicken, liver and onions, and chop suey on the menu. They do not offer dessert which I found interesting.

Normally when I have a bad experience at a restaurant, I like to visit and give them another chance. My experience here was so disappointing that when I pulled into the parking lot to try it again today, I couldn’t bring myself to go in. After seeing all the positive reviews on Unilocal,I decided to give Baleadas Express a try one day for lunch. The restaurant was around ¾ full which I took as a good sign. Little did I know I would be in for an awful experience. Service was horrible. From the moment we walked in, it was as if things moved in slow motion. Ordering took far too long, but the delivery of our food and check really soured me on the place. My order consisted of a kid’s chicken tenders, Cuban sandwich and one of their breakfast dishes. Nearly an hour later the chicken and Cuban sandwich arrived, but the breakfast dish was nowhere to be found. Considering the time it took to make a simple Cuban sandwich, I figured maybe the other dish took a really long time. Around 15 minutes later, I was able to get the server’s attention. He had never brought napkins or utensils, plus he seemed confused by my questions about the missing dish. Thoroughly frustrated, I asked for the check. Waiting for that took even longer, bringing my total time at the restaurant to nearly two hours. Making matters worse was the food. My Cuban sandwich was just not good. Maybe I made an error ordering a Cuban sandwich in a Honduran restaurant, but I love Cuban sandwiches. This version seemed completely different from what I’m used to and was dry and bland. The fries that accompanied it, and the kids meal, were grocery store type curly fries. They were awful. I’m guessing the addition of the Cuban sandwich and items like po-boys are an attempt to cater to local tastes. If the food was the only downfall, I would gladly go back and order more adventurously. But the food coupled with the poor service make me very reluctant to ever return.

The experience was great and the food was over the top. Liked the un carbonated drinks like cashew and passion fruit. Presentation of food was excellent. The staff went above and beyond over there service and making sure you leave happy. The place was clean and the booths and chairs are comfortable… can’t wait to use the drive thru. The prices were extremely reasonable. The food is the best Honduran that I’ve had. I enjoy the enchiladas and tacos and there hand made tamale was so unique and moist. The pork tamale is good and to my surprise the chicken one was great too but I favor the pork…

This is a very casual place. I got the pescado entomatado with a side of plaintains… it was all delicious! Not much else to say!

Delicious and favorably-priced! This little Meso-American gem is hidden in a strip mall behind the Home Depot in the outer, big-box/strip-mall reaches of Covington. I had something that was beef and potatoes in a corn pocket. It was kind of like a Meso-American calzone and tasty. The staff was very friendly and the place was nice and clean. I have to make a list of places that you can have an excellent lunch at on the Northshore for not much more than fast food. Baleadas would be on it. Sala Thai’s lunch buffet and China City would be on that list as well.

Excellent food and service! The price is right. Nothing like a fresh tortilla. Try there breakfast menu as well — the baleadas!
