I have been going to The Covington School Of Music branch of LAAPA(Louisiana Acedemy of Performing Arts) for about three years now. The staff is very nice and welcoming. The Covington Branch has only a music department. My original teacher was Cara Williams, I had her for about a year and a half or more and she was the best music teacher I ever had. She was alway happy and ready to teach. She had a unique style and was extremely kind. She left in 2014 to return to college for a course she always wanted to take and was offered by The University Of Arizona which is where she was from. She performed in the play«The King and I» as the lead Anna before leaving. She also told her students she was leaving on the last day she saw them so they wouldn’t perform as bad on any lessons if she had told them earlier. My current teacher is Amy Young Green. She has more experience with classic and theater music which are my least favorite genres of music to sing besides rap. Sometimes she makes the lesson about her and just keeps singing song after song until you say you like it then she will try to top that song. She has a hard time playing in certain keys mostly the only I prefer. If you do join this school for singing or piano I would suggest asking for Meridith or Bethany other instruments I’m not sure about.
