Glen’s Chevron

There's a mechanic there that wears cowboy boots, if he works on your car make sure you check his work. He put rear brakes on my Astro van and he did not sand the rust smooth on the backing plates, and he did not use any brake grease so the shoes would slide smoothly, I paid the $75 labor for the installation of the shoes I took the van for a test ride and drove down Kyle's Lane, came to the bottom of the hill and went to stop my brakes hung up. I brought my van back to Glenn Chevron and told Mark that my brakes hung up, Mark suspected that the emergency brake cable might have been rusted up and told a different mechanic to check it. The cable was in fine shape no rust and it worked properly. So I had my brakes done again bought my own shoes again and paid to have the rotors turned. Well the other mechanic that checked the emergency brake went to put the new brakes on the back axle of my van. This other mechanic that installed my brakes the second time Saw that his mecnic buddy who wears the cowboy boots didn't bother to sand or grease anything he installed the shoes and ignored the thick rust and just slapped everything back together. So it was obvious those two mechanics knew why my brakes hung up, neither one of them would say anything to the boss because mechanics don't tell on each other they have to work next to each other every day and get along! They had each other's back! This type of honor is normal in most workplaces.... Mark was pissed off about something but I couldn't tell what it was it couldn't have been me, Mark ask the mechanics if my emergency brake cable was okay they told him yes but nobody wanted to look any further to see what caused the problem! So I paid for another brake job this time it was $175, I had to pay it I was stuck there with burnt up breaks and a car I couldn't drive unless I paid to have my brakes done again. And what really killed me was those two mechanics saw what was causing the brakes to hang up but all they did was look each other in the eyes and bite their tongues! They didn't say a word that their boss! Anyway the second mechanic that put my brake shoes didn't cut any corners he did it properly. I'm still wondering what I did wrong or how I offended Mark or why he was so mad at something that wasn't my fault. All I can say is Mark You need to pay a little closer attention to what goes on behind your back !! Also the reason I didn't say anything myself to Mark was because I learned from past experience that one Joe public like me doesn't have a chance arguing with certified mechanics that are committed to keeping their mouth shut when they see one of their buddies make a mistake. Anyway Mark I know you're a really busy man, sometimes too busy to notice what's going on behind your back!!!!! Sincerely ! Steve ???? Steve

Glen’s Chevron fixed a problem with our struts, and soon thereafter their «fix» fell apart. Given our issues with their timing belt repair (see the previous review), we don’t recommend this service.

I have a car that I love that is getting to «that age.» You know, the one where you evaluate each repair in how many payments on a new car it would be. I’m so lucky to live close to Glen’s Chevron. From clutches to belts to axles, they always take great care of me and almost every time, they come in under their estimate by a few dollars.

This was my second time visiting Glen’s — great service, great price and personal service. I’d have to say the only noticeable thing was the oil on my steering wheel… it happens at the small shops more often than not, but I had to wipe my steering wheel.
Still, the work was done well, the price was fair & it’s close to home.

When anything happens to my car I take it here. I have had some recent issues with my car and taking it here I was either not charged for them looking or charged a very reasonable price for fixing/​repairs. I will never take my car anywhere else. The people here are very knowledgeable and will meet your expectations. I started coming here last December when I was having electrical problems on my Honda Civic and the guy worked on fixing the problem for 35 – 45 mins and I was only charged for the new light bulb. This was the first of 3 experiences I have had and I have not been disappointed. The other experiences were in the 100,000 mile maintenance and the most recent with my malfunctioning indicator lamp light coming on. They fixed the problem in a shorter amount of time I was originally told. I’m hoping not to need to bring my car into the shop anymore this year but if so I’m taking it here.

I learned the hard way. They are «it:» for me from now on!

We’ve always driven imported cars – Honda, Toyota, so we always went to an import garage in Elsmere. Last couple of times, we’ve been less than thrilled with the way they’ve treated our longtime customer loyalty, so we’ve discussed finding another place. Unfortunately, we never actually «decided» on that place before something terrible happened to our Toyota and we had to do something QUICK.
I work with a guy who is, as my grandmother would say, «so tight he squeaks». He also has a pretty good knowledge of cars, and HE uses Glen’s Chevron. I figured, if he trusts them, so then should I. It’s about a 5 minute drive from my office, and I could walk there if need be.
I made the call about 11 am, told them the situation (which involved towing). They had my car at the shop by mid afternoon and did their diagnosis… which wasn’t good. The car was dead, for all intent and purpose, but in speaking with Mark, the owner, he was really honest. I mean, he could have said, «yeah, you need a new engine. We can do that for $ 3k.» Instead he said, «I’m really sorry, but you’re going to need a new engine. It would cost about $ 2,875.00 for us to do that, but honestly, I wouldn’t put that much into the car – you can buy another car outright for that.»
So, with that information, we also decided that they should be the ones to do some maintenance work on our existing Honda, to keep it running smoothly until we scrape up enough for another car. With the credit they gave to us for the junked car, and the work they did to the Honda, we only owed them $ 94.00. I would have paid them 3 times that for how comfortable they made me feel, how they didn’t speak down to me or call me «hun».
Honesty goes a long way, folks. Glen’s will get my business again, hands down (though, no offense to Mark, I hope I don’t have to see him for a while!!!).

I know that it’s hard to find a mechanic that you can trust, but I think I’ve found a good one here.
I’ve been going here every time I’ve needed my car fixed for the past 5 years or so, and I’ve never had any problems with them. I’ve never needed to bring it back. The staff are friendly, and they’ve even done a few things on my car for free which was really nice.
Like once, I went camping and stuffed my trunk too full, so that when I went to close it, it hit something and wouldn’t shut. Something got bent. i took it there, and they hammered it and fixed it for free. That was really nice.
Also, I’ve gone there a few different times when my car was making noises fearing that it was going to cost a lot, and it was something really cheap. I don’t know much about cars so they could have easily screwed me over, which I’ve heard a lot of stories about some mechanics that do that, but they didn’t, therefore earning my trust.
I’d recommend them to anyone.
