This place advertises they have online ordering. After two hours with no delivery and no phone call I cancelled my order. Don’t advertise something that is blatantly not true.

Hands down the BEST sushi place to go in the area. From the food itself to the friendly staff– everything exceeds all expectations. The owner David is extremely friendly. The sushi is, above all, FRESH, and tastes wonderful. We first discovered them at the sushi festival that was held in New Orleans. They were sampling their Tataki roll(seared ahi tuna with avocado) and we were hooked. We came to visit them in Covington and we are impressed to say the least. I am expecting so I was unable to indulge in the raw fish, but my husband had the Tataki roll and it was just as great as when we had it at the festival. I had grilled teriyaki chicken which came with soup, salad, and shrimp tempura(a great deal) and it was delicious– so for anyone in the family who isn’t into the raw selections, there are plenty of tasty options. Even the green tea was great, real green tea leaves steeped in a kettle– poured about 10 cups between the two of us. So if you’re looking for great sushi and great service, this is your place. The restaurant itself is small and quaint. They have 4 tv’s and had the top football games on. Good selection of beers as well. Price is also good, not cheap but also not at pricy as most sushi places you go to. Our bill was 46 $. Which included my whole dinner, tea, an order of chicken fried rice and a Tuna Tataki roll. Check them out guys! You won’t be disappointed.

This is a very nice neighborhood sushi place — not gourmet, but very fresh sushi. This is not the place for the expense account meal with 85 sushi choices. When we came in today, two young kids were at a table playing a game and clearly the children of our waitress. We like the family atmosphere and the service is very personal and wonderful. I ordered sashimi and the sushi was delicious — it melted in my mouth. My kids had chicken fingers which is predictable, but they include fruit juice and fresh fruit as an option. I will mention one minor complaint which is the edamame is more than $ 5 which is what you would pay in Manhattan. A very nice family restaurant.

My boyfriend and I eat sushi all the time, and this was unfortunately the worst sushi we’ve ever had. Reminded me of premade sushi you can get at the grocery store, only worse. It was also pricey, especially considering the poor quality. Would never order from here again.

I was so disappointed in my chicken hibachi the other night. It was basically fried rice and chunks of scrambled eggs. The chicken which looked like a chicken breast you’d thaw out from the freezer section of Walmart was sad and bland. I basically had to drown my meal in soy sauce to even slightly enjoy it. I was looking forward to a decent meal and was very excited about it being opened late since I usually work late shifts at work but I’ll not be back. Surely you can do better than this.

Standard fare, but IMO there are far better options in town for sushi.

This is a decent lunch spot. You will probably spend close to $ 15 for lunch but it’s a good amount of food. Best Bang for the buck are the Bento boxes. My favorite thing about this place is the food is cooked on the spot. Even when you call in or place online order it’s cooked when you get there. Always fresh! The service is great. If I had to rate the sushi, I’ve definitely had better but it’s conveniently located near my job.

Tried a couple of times despite higher price, and I just don’t get it. So many better options on the Northshore for the money.

Very poor quality sushi. Loose rolls, rolls are cut extremely thin so it appears that you get a lot when you don’t, bad flavor, over priced. The tempura flakes in my crunchy roll were near burnt. My daughter wouldn’t eat hers. They use cheap ingredients. They are not knowledgeable of the products they use. I asked what base the soup was made from because I don’t eat poultry or red meat and they couldn’t tell me. Only that it was a clear soup. They are NOT friendly. They are very rude and pressure you to order when you’re their only customer. The restaurant smells bad and the ingredients are definitely NOT fresh. DONOT waste your money here! There are better places to get sushi at a better price! Update: I came to find out that it was the owner David that made the sushi and was my server. He made a rude comment about my daughter not eating her food. For a business owner this is beyond pathetic. Also my entire meal I had to listen to the other employee sit behind me and smack every single bite of his food. This was an extremely horrible experience. I will never go back. Never. BEWARE!!!

Upsides: good quality sushi, made quickly to order. Downsides: on the pricy side, even for quality if you compare it with at least one other local place, and sushi chef made us really uncomfortable. Come here as a person of color if you want to be awkwardly and loudly stereotyped by another person of color. Let me explain. I got the impression that the middle-aged guy sushi chef behind the counter was the owner, though I am not sure. The visible ethnicities of all involved are relevant to this story, so I will tell you that upon first glance, these are the relevant visible ethnicities: Sushi Chef — he appeared to be East-Asian(maybe Japanese). Me — I appear white. Female Coworker I was with — visibly mixed white and black. Male coworker I was with — visibly Southeast Asian(actually ethnically Pakistani born and raised in England with a British Accent). The sushi chef immediately asked us whether we were paying together, and we said no. He said, «you came in together, but you aren’t together?» and we explained we were together but not paying together. He seemed clearly weirded out and fascinated by three people of different ethnicities walking into a room together. As we decided what to order, he started peppering us with inappropriate questions. He wanted to know if my male coworker was my female coworker’s boyfriend, even though they were not standing anywhere near each other, just looking separately at menus. Then he wanted to know if my male coworker was related to Bobby Jindal. The chef went to great efforts to try to convince us that my coworker looked like Bobby Jindal, even though he clearly looks nothing like Bobby Jindal. There were more inappropriate, awkward questions that revealed his own stereotypes and prejudices, but at that point my brain just turned off and I was ready to leave. I won’t be coming back. Too bad, because the food was pretty good.

I’d give it 10 stars is possible. Been a while since I have been there. Went last night, was awesome. Service is excellent. Sushi the way or its supposed to be. It might not be what you’re use to, because David does it right.

Best sushi on the northshore! The owner and his wife are so sweet and service is always great. The tatakki roll is my favorite. I also love their hot tea. Recently they started online orders and delivery.

Yes, the sushi is fresh. IT’S RAW! IT better be fresh. Portion sizes are quite small compared to their competitors. The volcano roll was sprinkled with crab and made like an 8 pc roll. Wrong. The sauce on top was watery. Wrong. My naruto looked like Freddie Kruger was the chef. The presentation was awful! It was also served with a plastic soufflé cup of broken ginger dressing. Yum! The service was very poor and slow, even though we sat at the sushi bar. I liked this place much better when it was in Mandeville and the chef was serving things on foam plates. Everything has been marked up 2 – 4 $ per roll. I mean 6.79 for a crunchy roll? I know he has to pay for plates and a nicer location, but the owner should have thought about that before his relocation, remodel and hiring of non-existent staff. We just left and are headed to another sushi bar!

We were a bit turned off when we first walked in as the atmosphere was lacking and you were required to order at the counter. When dining out I would rather have a waiter/waitress take my order instead having each person in my party stand at a counter to place their order. However, after receiving our food we changed our minds. Everything was awesome! We would definitely visit again.

I used to frequent this place when I worked in the area, and have met very few sushi chefs that can beat the kindness and hospitality of this chef. He always seems understaffed so don’t expect a hustle and eat atmosphere here; however he has many pre made basic rolls and salads in the front for those in a rush. If you want good conversation with your sushi this is the place.
