We really like this restaurant and visit it on a regular basis. Monday — Thursday they have happy hour where you can get 3 long rolls for $ 20. They have half price appetizers too! They even have an «all you can eat» option some days. We have never had to wait longer than a few minutes for a table. Leann is the best. She is so attentive and friendly. I personally don’t like raw fish so I am glad they have some long rolls that are cooked. We will definitely return to this restaurant.

We use to love Trappers when two locations… As they have grown the quality has gone downhill. Tonight at Covington location we started with miso soup which was so watered down it was tasteless. Waiter was good and tried remaking for us but still not good. When our rolls arrived the rice was so over done it was more like paste than rice. Sad to say we will probably never go back.

Today was my 3rd visit to this particular Trapper’s. A friend and myself met for dinner. We both love Trapper’s rolls! Today I am so disappointed, we were served cold Miso soup, turns out it was the last of the pot… The bottom residue… Gross! the waitress replaced with new batch., but it wasn’t even hot. When ordering I asked for spicy mayonnaise sauce on my «Covington Roll», it was given to me in a soup bowl on the side… What? Not drizzled decoratively on the roll. The waitress had to come back several times to clarify our order. But the straw that broke the camel’s back was, she came back one final time and asked if we wanted one check or two? We had told her it would be on one check when we ordered. At this point we looked at each other and said«do you think she has listened one word we have said?» And we both said«no way». All in all and I promise we will try not to let this affect our next visit to Trappers but this visit certainly left a bad taste in our mouths!

Trapper’s has a pretty successful business model: all you can eat sushi. They have tons of rolls to choose from, and a few nigiri pieces if you want to go traditional. There is always a «deal» going on in the form of happy hour or a flavor of the week, but be careful, it may be more expensive in the long run if you get more than one order compared to all you can eat. The food quality is as expected for mass-produced raw fish. The sauces and tempura are plentiful, and the copious amounts of rice will fill you up quick. They are always busy and the staff try their best to accommodate everyone, but it can take quite a while to place another order or get a refill. I kind of like this place, and their location in Kent is similar, but sometimes the long wait times, high prices, and ultra-Americanized rolls get to be too much.

Don’t tip with debit/credit cards… Server changed the amount and the manager just told us he couldn’t do anything about it when we called to get it fixed the next day.

Menu has a nice mix of favorites and rotating specials. Prices were a little spendy, but service and consistency makes up for it. It’s a comfortable and modern setting, family friendly, and isn’t trying to fool you into believing it’s transplanted from Tokyo. This is sushi for almost adventurous American tastebuds, and everybody can find something they’ll like.

Went early this morning, when you have a toddler sleeping in is not a thing. Kind of took a while to get our food considering how empty it was. Service was good. Food was ok. Value is questionable. They have a knack on this niche-market and while others try, no one can seem to compete with them. Some of their items are great and I like them, some are deep-fried mayo grossness. I have found things I like and I rarely stray from the known.

Average sushi. Don’t get me wrong the food is good. But nothing that stands out. It is your average sushi place. Never had a bad experience here. Prices are great and reasonable.

Took my parents out to sushi this afternoon around 2PM thinking, hey, we beat the lunch rush. This will be great. It’ll be quick, easy, painless… False. There were clearly many tables open, but several were not cleaned up when we walked in, and even when they were cleared off, they were not reset for seating until we had waited about 15 – 20 minutes. There were other open tables as well, but those were also not set for seating, even though there were a couple of parties waiting before we had arrived. The girl who was originally at the door glanced up at me, but didn’t take my name down or offer any type of service. It wasn’t until another waitress came by 5 minutes later that my name was taken for seating. It’s clear that there was a bit of a staffing shortage today, so I don’t blame the waitresses for the wait — however, the girl who ignored me upfront was simply unacceptable. I could tell while we were waiting that she was either still ramping up or not very good at her job — she wiped down the tables that were already wiped down after ignoring me, and proceeded to ask the other waitresses, «Who needs a table?» — thanks, more professional waitress for pointing out, «Everyone needs a table.» Food-wise Trapper’s is not bad at all for a suburbian spot — the pieces of sashimi are generous and quite fresh compared to any other fast sushi joint in the area, and the rolls a reasonable size. I really enjoyed the entire dish of sashimi, and will remember to order that should I find myself at Trapper’s again. We ordered 3 rolls in addition to the sashimi appetizer: a Spider Roll, Rock & Roll Roll, and the Timmy Roll. I normally love Spider Rolls, but I was not a huge fan of this one — my dad fortunately was, and finished the majority of it. The Rock & Roll Roll was a recommendation by our waitress — this was alright, but not my favorite. I should have read the description better and saw that there was cream cheese in it. This made the roll feel a bit heavy, so I was not a huge fan. Don’t get me wrong the — this was good, and if you like cream cheese in your sushi, you should definitely go for this one. Just not a personal preference of mine. The Timmy roll was probably my favorite of the 3 — it was tempura’d, which made me worried, but had great flavor balance and was really well done. Overall, you’re a solid neighborhood sushi joint Trapper’s — I would have given you 3⁄5 stars, but that service at the beginning really took away from my overall experience. The waitress at our table did make the experience a tad bit better, but really — you should set the tone from the start, not try to make up for it later on.

Bf and I come here often but the other night was a let down. Multiple tables open yet loads of people waiting to get seated. One girl asked us our name and where we preferred to sit. Bf said whichever is faster. So as we are standing there another couple walks in behind us. They said they wanted to sit in the bar area and we’re seated immediately. Before us. By the girl who took our names. Super ridiculous. We realize it’s busy at night. But the tables that were open were obviously clean and ready. And there were tables in the bar. Just lame. Great food. Crap service.

This is the best sushi I’ve ever had, and I have gotten so used to how good their stuff is that when I travel and try new places, I find I’ve turned in to a sushi snob. Their All You Can Eat lunch and dinner are pretty great if you bring a big appetite and can get a seat at the counter. I find the lunch to be a much better value, but I don’t order a ton of their specialty rolls either. My favorite is the Bonney Lake. I don’t know how they formulated all those tastes together in to something so great, but they are fish magicians back there. I also like the Rock & Roll, and their originally«Philly» which isn’t on the menu anymore but had crab, shrimp, crème cheese, and then was rolled with sesame seeds on the outside. Sometimes, if you’re really nice, they’ll make it for you if you just ask. Their sushi chefs have really great personalities for the most part, and they are great to talk to while you’re watching them turn your food in to little slices of art.

I’m giving this one star because u have to. If possible I would do less. Jimmy is one of the worst managers I have ever met. I thought he was rude in front of customers while talking to his employees. He yelled in front of us to his employee and really ruined our experience. Why he has a job i still don’t know but I would never come back knowing he’s still employed. He made my experience awkward and uncomfortable. Thankfully our server made the experience memorable but because of him i don’t know if I would come back

Overall I wasn’t super satisfied with the food. The service was great and it was a pretty cool place. I have been to a trapper before at another location and I thought it was pretty good there, but it wasn’t the same story here. The service was great. The waitress was friendly and the staff seems to work well together. They made there work environment fun for themselves as well as the customers. The problem for me was the food. It was just so plain to me and cheap. No flavor and nothing that had me satisfied. My wife and I had the Very Happy, the Seattle, The New York, and the Spicy Tuna. None of them had me wanting to come back. I’d say maybe the Very Happy was the best of the four. The Spicy Tuna was not even spicy, and I am pretty sensitive with spicy foods(my wife ordered it). I feel as tho I am being nice by giving this place 3 stars because the only thing that saved them was the service. But for a restaurant, you can have the friendliest staff in the world, but it’s the food that makes a restaurant good or bad.

I started going to Sushi Town in Bonney Lake in 2006 and now it’s a chain ! In fact, there is one 5 minutes from where i live. I’m not surprised with their growth and i rave about it to people i know. My husband, kids and I love love love the sushi here! It’s everything you want in Americanised Sushi. The chefs take their time to get to know you… they would genuinely conversate with my kids and put their personal touch to their creations. I have forgotten what authentic Japanese sushi taste like(the kind of sushi served where I’m originally from) and i don’t care because this place is so freaking off the chain you want to keep coming back for more.

The sushi rolls are pretty good and they have a wide variety. This is their specialty. Ordered the Tempura Shrimp Vegetable dinner. Came with cucumber salad in ponzu sauce, was ok but woud have liked to see a mixture of lettuce and tomato. The Miso soup was a little waterery so flavor only had a slight miso flavor. The presentation of the dinner plate was on chopped cabbabe. Would have like to see it on shredded cabbage and the chop just look like it was thrown on. The tempura was ok but served with teriyaki sauce. Mixup with the staff. The owner manager came over and appoligized and gave us free fried ice cream. Was ok but a little doughie. Fried ice cream is hard to make and serve without melting the ice cream. Glad we had a chance to meet one of the owner’s whose Brother, Trapper, started the business. Would I go again, yes and try more rolls and other dinners.

I came here knowing this isn’t an authentic sushi restaurant, so my expectations were below bar but I didn’t expect it to go underground. I use to make sushi and waitress at sushi and asian restaurants for 7+ years shelling out at least a couple hundred rolls and pieces of nigiri a day. It wasn’t the best stuff but I do eat out at sushi restaurants quite often and know where all the places get their fish. How to tell which salmon grade and how fish is supposed to taste. Lets get to the review. The rolls sounded like its worth the price(Mt. Rainier roll on the specialty section: Crystal shrimp inside, topped with salmon, yellowtail, tuna, cooked scallops and crab). Honestly didn’t expect what I was getting. Almost every roll either has a «crab», crystal shrimp or tempura shrimp as the filling, it’s the cheaper way to go. That I don’t really mind but at least specify if it’s imitation crab and at least SAY on the menu that the«crystal shrimp» is fried. I got my Mt Rainier roll and I was extremely confused. Some rolls say tempura shrimp. So I thought the«crystal shrimp» wasn’t. I asked the waitress and she said it’s supposed to be fried.(I would not have ordered it in the first place if I knew). Not only was my roll stuffed with just a dry over cooked piece«crystal shrimp.» It had one piece of salmon, one piece of yellow tail, and a dinky piece of tuna. The«cooked scallops and crab» on top were little rubbery pieces of overcooked nuggets and imitation crab. Super oily and hard to chew. The menu is standard. Your average tuna, salmon, albacore, yellowtail, and tobiko. I was surprised they even had squid too. Just I had expected from an Americanized sushi restaurant. No asians in sight, except me and my Hubster. The only highlight was the tea, squid, and service. The tea doesn’t take a genius to make. Hot water + tea-bag, done. It was gen-matcha. Brown rice tea, my favorite. All squid are packaged and frozen, then delivered to businesses. Unless the house makes it themselves, 90% of all the places which has squid on the menu, is pre-made and packaged. Just defrost and slice. So I can’t say anything good or bad about my squid nigiri. The service was average. Wasn’t the best but was nice and friendly. Helpful but took way too long to get my card to and from the check out. 10 minutes after we got the bill, she finally came back to grab the checkbook. I still tipped her a 15% even though the food was awful and left me full but unsatisfied. Obviously I won’t be coming back. Even for the all you can eat option. I’d rather go to Mizuki buffet for unlimited sushi for 30 bucks than to pay 25 for all you can eat overcooked scallops, thick riced rolls, fake crab, with a bit of fish on top.

Service is great. It’s looks like it’s busy with the local residents. No asians. Since there are no truly great sushi restaurants nearby, I tried this place to fill me up with just what I need. Spicy tuna roll and their combo sushi sashimi plate. Rice was a bit hard and not enough seasoning was in the sushi rice. The cucumber had no vinegar flavor so I asked for vinegar to add to the cucumber bowl. I don’t love it, I don’t hate it. The employees were very friendly which I appreciated.

I’ve been in western WA for eight years and this is the first sushi place I’ve found with an AYCE special. YAY! It’s fairly Americanized(lots of specialty rolls involving tempura, as opposed to just high-quality nigiri) but tasty. And the value is spot-on. The selection of rolls if much larger than I expected, and they have a good selection of sake, beer and non-sushi foods as well. Is it the best sushi place I’ve ever been to? Nope. Is it better than Blue C and other sushi-go-round places I’ve tried? Absolutely. Also, you can’t beat the sushi chef service– be prepared for guys with a wicked sense of humor, waiters who are on the ball with refilling waters and answering questions, and a staff that doesn’t give you the stink-eye for being the last ones in the restaurant. We’ll definitely be coming back often. (also, the squid nigiri is amazingly buttery and delicious!)

If you sit at the bar, you can do the all you can eat option. Its definitely a cheaper price than I expected. The Sushi is good, and they put on a nice amount of fish, and they dont overdo it with the rice. Good Friendly Service. They make the rolls fast, and are creative with them. I will definitely venture in again at some point.
